  1. It sounds great to me. Should be fun. I also really like the smaller set that goes with it.
  2. I think I might have to sell mine too. It's just not worth it to me and I could get so much more stuff for that kind of money.
  3. The thing about capes is that if you want a lot, it's very easy to create custom ones and it's hard to tell the difference. They don't fit into the system in the same way, so quality control isn't as crucial. And given that they don't produce capes in anything like the volume of plastic elements, I can see that their cost might be higher - especially when each one/pack is individually packaged. But the price for the goat being more than double what similar elements are sold for smacks of scalping, which most consider to be unfair. You could look at it as supply/demand and maximizing value for shareholders, which is what companies are supposed to do. And then consumers are supposed to stop buying to lessen demand and so prices fall. Or, they increase, because it's a low volume item. But either way, it just feels like poor form. Anyway, I've emailed them, very politely, to say that I'm disappointed by the price and won't be buying any, but I would appreciate them considering a lower price in future that's more aligned with similar elements.
  4. So disappointed in LEGO. Ludicrous.
  5. I think I heard, but I can't be bothered to do the Google search to find out, that it's a thing in Australia, as July is mid-winter for them, so they like to have more traditional decorations up for it. I never heard about it in the UK though.
  6. The voice of sensible reason here. Sigh. I saw the bulldog price and assumed it was dual-moulded and so more expensive because of that, but didn't realize the other version was half the price. The white chicken was in BAM a couple of years ago, where you effectively get them for $0.67 each. So it's definitely not just production cost-based. Anyway, continuing the sensible tone, I'm still really glad PAB is an option.
  7. If they try to charge $5.90 per goat they are worse than the scalpers, to be honest. I have no problem with people ordering lots of a product that will be of (effectively) unlimited supply, and it just means others have to wait. But to buy up lots of low volume products (for scalpers) or artificially inflate the price due to initial demand is pretty scummy behaviour, so I really hope they don't fall into this. About $2, like the sheep, would feel a lot fairer. Some of the dogs that are similar to the goat are about $2.50.
  8. Setting a limit can be hard though. You might have a legitimate reason for wanting loads. For instance - based on their own suggestion - I modified the bonsai tree to incorporate different elements for each season. Ordering 60 ducklings and 60 candy canes is crazy for most uses, but it's a build I really loved making. I'd really like three grey goats for my 'summer' tree, but tried to order five given the price. Will still likely get three when they come back. If they did do a limit, is that a household limit? Over what time period? They permanently limit you on set orders, which seems so silly. But don't seem to track GWPs, which are supposed to be one per household. I'd worry that they'd screw it up, so would prefer to just be patient and wait.
  9. It may be bad news for anyone who got goats through. Report on Reddit that the goats are being cancelled. They cancelled my goats! : r/lego (reddit.com) Which strikes me as kind of unfair really. Typically if a retailer screws up with their pricing they take the hit for better PR. And, as pointed out above, they're still probably making a profit at this level.
  10. Yes, very true. There are so many good sets. I recently audited my LEGO wish list and halved it. The sheer volume being produced now means the filtering has to change. It's also making me re-evaluate some of the older rounds - that I've not built yet - and whether there are a couple of those that I should sell. I sold the modular LEGO store last year, realizing that I didn't actually like it, and it would always be lower on the build/display list than something else.
  11. Doesn't bode well for future pirate sets, which is a shame. Also surprised by the ocean house. Seems that the open back is a big barrier for many.
  12. I got two of each of the new MTS torsos (had to search by part number for the sand blue one), but no goats. They were in the cart, but then removed. Sigh.
  13. Yes, I wondered that. Far too cheap compared to other things, and for what they could get away with charging!
  14. Wow! Goat is only $0.59 in the US. Added five to my basket. And then by the time I'd added a few more things - just ten minutes later - it was gone. Sigh. Oh well, will have to wait.
  15. Well, July 1 is here, but the new PAB parts are not. I don't really want to play the 'checking every hour to see when they come into stock' game, so looks like I'll order the new pieces when they're back in stock in October!
  16. I was looking for the list of new elements for July 1 and New Elementary has a visual guide (Jay's Brick Blog has a list). New Elementary: LEGO® parts, sets and techniques: New parts added to LEGO® Pick a Brick
  17. On the one hand, it's a shame. On the other hand, I haven't bought much of the Monkie Kid line, and there always seems like a bit of an overlap with Ninjago in some of the areas it could go and some of the styles they produce. Yes, this is a very broad generalization, but if you compare it to something like DREAMZzz which is very different, I could see why they might try a new theme. I hope they continue to push in interesting directions. Monkie Kid gave us some great sets. As has DREAMZzz. It also doesn't help that it's not sold in retail stores in most of the world.
  18. I like the Greek goddess and horse rider. The pink beanie is nice and being able to get a couple of labradors in BAM is nice, as they're a lot cheaper than on PAB. I'm trying to collect a load of butterflies for a customized bonsai tree, so hopefully I can get a box or two of those - but I always wait at least a month of them being out before try to scoop up lots of anything. I tried to do the same thing with the blue butterflies in the last wave and there weren't many left, so they appear to be popular.
  19. I got the same email. It feels so quick compared to last time.
  20. I don't have many (although I'm also not hugely active in this thread, so...). It was the 1989 Batmobile that got me interested, so I have that and the 1989 Batwing. The minifigure versions of them (promo and retail set for the Batobile). I love the style of the Burton films and BTAS, so I wasn't interested in much otherwise. Having said that, I did get the minifigure scale 1960 Batmobile, and then the Tumbler. And then people said that the UCS Tumbler was a good build, so I got that too... I'll get the BTAS Batmobile and really tempted by the Gotham skyline. But it will have to be a really good set for me to buy any more. I can't really see them improving on any of the current vehicles, and I don't think there are others in the canon that are appealing to me. A decent Wayne Manor, Batcave, and maybe an Arkham Asylum (for the gothic vibes) would be interesting. But otherwise, bizarrely, given the line, the last couple of years may well be peak LEGO Batman!
  21. I wonder if they do it deliberately for reason? I can't see an advantage to a standard retail store trying to hide that, given that most buyers won't know about QR code scanning for the figures. And who uses price labels now anyway? The extra effort to manually price things seems very inefficient. Sorry you got the rough end of it. Hopefully you find something else soon. In more positive news, I went to a Wal-mart in the US today and found an entire endcap display of CMFs and not a single box was ripped open, so hopefully the scannable codes are helping.
  22. I saw in Brick Clicker's latest video that the Ideas minifig stand designs are now available from Pick a Brick. He got it from Brick Fanatics, and as I can't find it anywhere else, it feels right to post the link, but OMG, their site is such a spam-fest of cyclical or useless links. Three of them seem particularly suitable for the modular buildings. Minifigure Crossing Stand - 200 pieces - $29.56/£25.62 Remote Control Car Minifigure Stand - 200 pieces - $22.50/£19.93 Botanical Minifigure Stand - currently out of stock, but maybe 158 pieces?
  23. I've been using the Brick Hunter browser extension for this recently. It's amazing!
  24. The nice thing about these sets is that they all use current production pieces, so it's quick and easy to get the parts from Pick a Brick, and it shouldn't be a huge cost over the RRP of the set, especially as it's relatively few pieces.
  25. As much as I hate it, seeing the GWP go for $120+ (and often a lot more) is making me very tempted to sell it and build a load of these. I think I prefer them to the official one anyway, as I don't really like film wings.
