I reckon they've winterized the new Fortnite battle bus set and will just release that! -

I'm very tempted to get the castle now, with the second run GWP. I missed it by 30 on release day. I even bought multiple sets of the different 1x1 eyes from PAB in anticipation of making my own version.- 686 replies

Agreed. These look so nice in the plastic. More so than the render.- 686 replies

It's likely exclusive for the first three months or so, and then will be available from other retailers later. Although I've noticed that they seem to keep it marked as Exclusive for some sets now that are limited release (and used to be labelled as 'Hard to Find'), so who knows.- 686 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I saw that recently and thought it looked excellent. It could probably have another floor or two added to make it really tower, although it also feels like the footprint is too small for that, and you'd have to extend it over another 16x32 baseplate to give the building the footprint it needs to make it taller. I'm hoping that's what the planned extension does, so we'll see. Of course, at 4000 pieces already, adding two floors and essentially doubling the footprint means the piece count would be huge, so there's always compromises for it. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I really hope they don't do it. The Marvel sets look totally out of scale compared to the modulars to me, so it would be a real shame if they changed the scale to do a skyscraper in the Icons modulars. It also irks me that they have different floors on the outside to the inside. Totally with you that they should continue with smaller buildings with exteriors and interiors that match. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes, the orange doesn't torso. Someone posted the link to the part number on PAB, but by the time I tried it, it was out of stock. I know that LUGs were able to order them. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
It was on PAB a couple of years ago though, although I never saw it in stock. I know that it was available to LUGs to purchase. -
I've been in two LEGO stores recently (Boston and Washington DC) and asked about the new BAM figures. Both said they were delayed by a few weeks and one said they'd been told that stores in the US with minifigure printing stations were getting them first as a priority (she also said that she didn't know why, nor why there was an apparent limit on stock). So if you have a regular store, then it may be a while before you see the figures. In other news, I found 26 of the older blue butterfly, so combined with other acquisitions and a Pick a Brick order that's arriving at the weekend, I'll do a butterfly themed bonsai tree

In past rounds there have been people with sets lost in the mail who got a refund and not a replacement set, with LEGO saying they had no more stock and only made sufficient quantities to fulfill orders. I had a friend who was away during delivery and the set got returned to LEGO. He asked if it could be resent and they said they had no more in stock. They may possibly overproduce sets in a small quantity, but the major thing here is likely logistics and having access to any spare sets so that they can go through the order fulfillment process. For such small volumes for these edge cases, it's not worth it to them to create a system to cope. If that's what you value, then that's great, but it's also worth noting that the cost of buying the individual pieces is generally a lot higher than the cost of the set (at RRP). The box doesn't add any value to me, although it may if you're trying to resell it. An open box likely far less than a sealed set. I hope yours arrived unscathed though!

I agree. It sounds great, has a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to it. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The only one I really love since Downtown Diner is the Boutique Hotel. But all the rest are good, solid models, and, for me, leagues ahead of some of the older ones. Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, and Town Hall don't really excite me. Palace Cinema isn't that great either, by today's standards. And while I do really love the Fire Brigade, the build is so poor compared to all of those since Parisian Restaurant. -
42172 - McLaren P1
RichardGoring replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just had a look at photos and the Designer video on YouTube and Supercars of London has it too. The back looks great - really great - but the front doesn't look right at all. It's too squashed? Or maybe the elements aren't continuous enough to make it work? I don't know, but it doesn't appeal, which is such a shame, as I love McLaren's and the colour. Maybe it will look better in person. -

That's a good point on complex decorations. I wonder why they chose to do it for the goat instead of dual moulding. It must, ultimately, be less expensive for them, but it may be facility availability that counts towards cost too, and maybe that's where it flips.- 5,909 replies

RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The goat isn't dual-moulded though, is it, just painted? They've also had various dogs in BAM that are a similar size. But yes, they may decide it's too valuable to put in there. Good call on the advent calendar. I wonder if they'd do a special festive print on it though? Might be quite good fun!- 5,909 replies

Love that addition, great work! It definitely makes sense to try something similar when I build mine. Thanks for the inspiration! -

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wasn't there a designer interview where they said they tried long legs and arms, but didn't like the look? Or am I thinking of various fan attempts to mock it up and it not working that well? ETA: Oh, and there was a discussion about potentially not doing it because he wouldn't have fit in the throne room too, so it may have just been fan mock-ups. -

I ordered eight Wolfpack torsos and hoods which all arrived today too. All the rest are standard elements, so a while to wait yet. I'm holding out on goats being less expensive at some point in the future. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
There should be a side-build building with it. I can imagine the building being larger than the hot air balloon, but it won't be the focal point of the set, hence the name.
