Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Do you think we'll get a dismembered leg mould? There are plenty of places discussing the goat, but finally found the link to the T. Rex set. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/175775-lego-ideas-the-medieval-blacksmith/&do=findComment&comment=3344960- 5,914 replies

Jurassic World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't think so. The moulded dinosaurs make for great playsets. Brick-built ones are great for 18+. If that diorama is accurate, I can see a brick-built T. Rex looking amazing, compared to a moulded one that might make it look cheap or inelegant. When you get down to the scale of the mid-sized and smaller dinosaurs is where you likely lose the ability to produce a brick-built one that looks good. The Ideas Dinosaur Fossils T. Rex 21320 vs the new Jurassic World/Camp Cretaceous 76940 is a good example. I much prefer the look of the Ideas brick-built fossils as an adult, but the moulded head in the new version is excellent for a play set, for kids to build (and to tie in with the other sets). I doubt it. They wanted to bring it back for the T. Rex Rampage 75936, but couldn't. And that was a $250 set. Anyone fancy painting a sheep and gluing some horns on? One day we'll get one, and I shall buy them to put into each of these sets. -

This would be so amazing. I love the idea of it, and the potential for expansion with the JP gates. -

Jurassic World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Jurassic World. I was disappointed in it compared to Jurassic Park as it felt like a huge step backwards from the original film. Maybe it's the two years of not going out in COVID, maybe it's the return of Sam Neill and Laura Dern (along with Jeff Goldblum), maybe it's the general nostalgia, or maybe because it's actually good, but it does look good. And the sets will hopefully be cool. But it would be lovely to get an original Jurassic Park set in the wave too. Excited to see what's coming. (Also, I do like the JW LEGO sets and have a few, but mostly for some of the dinos and for my daughter to play with). -
Agreed that if it is a roller coaster, I'd like a completely different colour scheme.

It's dark orange, which I think is the same as the CMF (I didn't get the CMF).

Ha ha! Although I think that might be a lot of people on here. Me included.

Why is your username not Clone OPedia? Fabulous knowledge, as usual.

I went to the Burlington Mall, MA LEGO store today and they had most of the new BAM figures in. They arrived last week. Sadly not the chicken suit or fairy. The terrifying pink bear was also not there. This is their full selection. I've not seen the green top (#8) before, so got one of those to go with castle stuff.

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote

I saw this updated version of the LL928 on Rebrickable - LEGO MOC LL-928 Galaxy Explorer Classic Space by The Brick Artisan | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO via DuckBricks - LEGO Classic Space Galaxy Explorer REVAMPED Review! - YouTube And I think it's pretty much perfect for modern classic space. But then, that was pretty much Benny's Spaceship, so maybe we had updated classic space already? -
I suspect, given that it's a low volume run and people in Europe have their sets, that they have them all picked, boxed, and ready to do. They're just waiting on a container to put them in, or it's on a container waiting to come into port. Although none of that really changes when we'll get them. Knowing that it will arrive at some point is nice.

My Jan 11 order still hasn't shipped, so the order date for shipping is somewhere in that two week period. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, at least it's given us all something to talk about with a unified voice. What I don't get is all the time and effort he spent on this forum. Jokes tend to work when they are short and sharp. Also when they are funny. But who wastes two months of their life doing this? Oh well. Still looking forward to this likely happening, or whatever coconut turns out to be. -
Just had an email from LEGO saying that my order (to the US) from round 1 will now be shipped by March 3. This is the third email update I've had with a delayed delivery, so I suspect it means that it will arrive when it arrives and we have no idea when. Hopefully it will be a nice summer evening building experience.

And the way that investment in LEGO has picked up in the last few years, I can only imagine it would be worse now. -

I didn't even want that horse, but now I'm tempted to call up and see if I can add it to my last order that hasn't shipped yet. Probably too late, and likely not what I actually want, but it's staggering that the cost has increased so much. When it inevitably goes on sale, you may as well say "buy the horse & husky 60327 minifig pack and get a free horse jump build + an additional 170 bonus pieces to build a car and transport trailer". -
Ah, yes, that's more sensible and much more achievable physics-wise. Are you worried about the cost of the two sets, or the cost of the house required to give you space to put them together?

Knights of Valor 2022 rumored theme
RichardGoring replied to Mr No's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
To be fair, I can sit down, but will also fall down if someone shakes me. This could be really good. I think Friends sets are often up there with some of the best. They are interesting to put together, look good, and have great detail. Plus, my daughter loves the play value they bring too (as well as building). The Creator 3in1 castle was good, but really lacked on the inside. Hopefully this will address that, although the price points mean they will all be smaller than 31120, which is a bit of shame, but maybe leaves the door open for a halo set in the theme later. -
Unless the new one is substantially taller than the original, I suspect physics will get in the way. On the original roller coaster, the cars only just get round to the start point again. Lengthening the track would require extra height to make it run all the way around. I also don't know where you'd combine the two without bypassing one of the sets almost completely, unless you wanted multiple cross over points. However, combining the sets into one megacoaster would be fun. I look forward to whatever genius can come up with it on Rebrickable.

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
RichardGoring replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. That would be perfect for the bonus CMF series we're supposed to be getting. A space, castle, pirates CMF. A Bionicle minifig? Town and Friends would round out the six nicely. Or two from each of the classic System themes. -
Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
RichardGoring replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't really follow Ninjago, but I have to say that the Friends Treehouse as the 10th anniversary set is pretty much spot on. It's an excellent homage to so many of the things they've done in the time. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is purely speculation, but it may well be down to production time or storage volume. They may have limited time on the moulding/production machines for each part, and if the bodies take more time to produce, they can do fewer of them in each batch. Or they may produce as many parts as fit into their storage containers. The bodies are far larger than the heads, so they produce more heads purley so that they can fill the storage bins, and then do body production more frequently. Changing the mold and ABS colour likely takes a while and requires a pause in production, so they maximize what they get from each run. Whatever the case, there will definitely be a reason that this is more efficient for them, than doing a 1:1 match of piece numbers. -
I expect HUGE is hyperbole. Given that it's $20 less than the original, and prices have increased somewhat compared to a few years ago, I suspect it will be smaller, although maybe not much. And it would be a shame if they just did the same as the original but with a loop. That's why a drop coaster would be so nice, with a different lift mechanism.
