[TECHNIC] 2014 Building Itinerary
Jim replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have a Mindstorms EV3 Wall-e like robot in progress. Definitely want to finish that one. Furthermore working on two MODs, a double rotor (Chinookified) 9396 and the white 8070 supercar with full remote. And I am planning on doing lots of reviews for the Reviewer's Academy. -
I understand and appreciate your opinion and I know there are basically two opinions about instructions getting less difficult (maybe three, like, don't like and don't care). I for one, like the overall building experience, whether the instructions are easy or not. Others think easy instructions take the fun out of building. I reckon it's an agree to disagree situation
-
I don't think having interactive instructions does damage to the imagination. The building instructions are.....building instructions. So being able to rotate etc, just increases the quality and clarity. Being able to rotate resembles rotating the actual model. I don't have a problem with that. Just my two cents.

Mechanically Programmable Drummer
Jim replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
True that! I will put the idea on the short list Nice build Sariel! Programming cards are very cool. -
Superkalle, Nice topic I really do like the idea of having instructions like these. Being able to rotate, pinch and zoom during the build pleases me a lot. However, I do agree to some extend with Pbat that an HTML5 version would be better, since I am almost always using a desktop computer and PDF while building. It's good to see that TLG is making progress in the interactive instructions section!

Power Functions Motor Coasting
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I could try to use the speed remote, but I'd still want the model to behave properly when using the normal PF remote. I was wondering the same thing. Could you elaborate a bit on the "one direction clutch" implementation? -
Nico71's Creations

Nice build Nico I really like these kind of machines and yours is no exception. The switching mechanism for alternating the output direction is very clever. -
[INSTRUCTIONS] Carver

Very nice build! It resembles the real carver a lot. Thanks for providing instructions. I will definitely be building this model. -
[WIP] Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1
Jim replied to Zwergi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Using Google Translate: moinmoin have a little bit more tinkering the Outtrigger have become a real challenge, it is to build so they do not sag not exactly been easy due to the high dead weight. well enough whining here are some pictures Happy Wow, this is going to be a very impressive MOC!! I especially like the fact that it has a Model Team-like design. -
After building the 9398 4x4 Crawler I have been wondering about the difference in behavior between the Power Functions XL-Motor and the older Power Functions L-Motor. My concern is about Motor Coasting. Coasting is defined as "Performing a natural deceleration of a motor when the power is removed". In layman's terms; the vehicle continues rolling a bit, until completely stopped, so no abrupt stop. When the power on the XL-motor is removed, the motor coasts gently to a halt. However, when the power from the L-motor is removed, it abrubtly halts without coasting. This results in very shocky behavior, which I think can be done without. Any idea why the two motors behave differently? And more importantly; is there a way to use the new L-motor with coasting behavior? Possibly with a 24T Clutch Gear or other mechanism/technique.

Hi, Could you change my +2 to a +3? I will bring an extra friend. -
Unimog, Service Truck and Moto Cross Bike. Thanks! Too bad you couldn't join. Your winning entry in previous contest was very original. You would have earned some of my points!

Hi EW, Welcome to EB! Nice to see a new Mindstorms fan! I don't have experience with Android devices, so I can't really help you out. However, if my memory serves me well, there was some discussion about this in the Mindstorms General Discussion topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87371 (I'll search the thread in a bit)

Technic General Discussion
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe it was due to a certain time restraint. Final parts still in production, while the box needed to be printed, or something along that line. I will try to find the old topic. -
Technic General Discussion

There's been debate about it (in an old topic). I think the conclusion was that nobody actually had those springs. They were probably preliminary images, although they ended up on the box. (Correct me if I'm wrong) -

Nice picture indeed! It was my crowning Technic set back in the days. I still have this set in my old collection. -
Very very nice! I really love the ice sculpture setting you came up with.

It's awesome! You've really captured the spirit of the Winter Village. Well done This could easily have been an official Lego set! Or part of it.
