  1. I suggest lots of goggles, leather jackets and gloves, and a great many large cannons, that will likely have to be brick built, because they'll need breeches, as well as traverse and elevation mechanisms.
  2. I think you sell yourself short on the fort. Assuming it's more of a blockhouse for the local garrison/gendarmerie, and not a coastal defense structure, I think it's just fine. You could maybe add in a few grey bricks or something so that all of the structure is not pure white, to give it a more realistic look, but other than that, I think the design is good.
  3. I like the green! There's hardly any green ships on this page! Keep the green, but make your own sails to ditch the red!
  4. Do the ports conceal brick build guns, or the full size heavy guns we all know and love?
  5. A very good build! Are there four mid-sections to the hull, or five?
  6. Nah, I'll help him see the light when he's older :-)
  7. So yesterday was my son's first birthday. One of the presents we got him was a set of mega blocks (yeah, not Lego, but close enough). I walk out into the living room this afternoon, and lo and behold, he's built a ship from them! I hurried and took a picture, then asked them the name, and he said "Da-da". He then placed a red block near the mainmast, so I can only assume that it was a crewman, and that crewman was wearing a red uniform. Obviously, I had to share this with you all, so without further ado, I present my one year old's first MOC, the four-gun HMS Dada :-D Other small vessel 4A
  8. I love the gallery on the stern.
  9. What pieces did you use for the statue pedastal?
  10. There is this guy: http://www.little-legends.com/images/source/s10_revolutionary_soldier.jpg It's an official Lego minifigure, I bought a dozen or so of them a while back. The only downside is that they lack shoulderboards. If you Google "Lego Revolutionary Soldier" you should find a bunch on ebay and Amazon.
  11. It's not a merchant ship... I do intend for brick build cannons. The carriages in the picture are 2x3s, though that's probably a little difficult to see in the pictures I provided. If I'd used full size guns, they'd be touching each other :-) I had tried raising the bow by another section, but it made it look like the old police boat hull. I'm playing with it, though, to see if I can get it to look higher via other means, though I've already had to give up the bow chasers in order to do it. I had been going for a small brig, but upon viewing the index, I'll probably be switching the rigging for a topsail cutter. That'll free up some deck space, as well.
  12. So I set out to make a smaller warship, similar in shape and size to the merchant ship that came with the Imperial Trading Post. The bow pieces in LDD are larger than the ones from the ship, though, so I wound up with a creation larger than anticipated. It doesn't quite seem right, though, and I'm curious as to whether anybody could help me figure out what's wrong?
  13. I had a similar problem when I built Thunderchild. I can't give pictures atm because I'm completing a move and have yet to put her back together, but the way I overcame the gap was to raise the deck high enough that I could expand it to cover the gap with the highest level deck plate.
  14. Tumblehome is very difficult to make look good in smaller ships. I've tried with ships that short before (my aforementioned upgunned clippers, incidentally) and it was obscenely difficult to do- frankly, not worth the trouble.
  15. Very nicely done! I did something similar with a pair of Carribean Clippers that I had, though I think yours looks nicer. And I dare say that your Imperial could match blows with BSB. She outguns them, after all!
  16. I absolutely LOVE the figurehead! Easily the best part of the ship. I've been wanting to come up with better figureheads for two of my ships, and that gave me some great inspiration! I also like the waviness of the hull tops in the middle, but I agree that they should be higher up, or the gun crews are going to be soaked at all times, and so will your powder! I would add a layer of bricks, or perhaps two layers of plate, but keep the waves at the very top. It's an original concept that I think looks terrific. You might try adding two chequered layers in there, similar to Maeve Auselbruck. (which I copied in the blue and white chequer pattern on my Thunderchild, if I may be allowed to shamelessly plug my own ship) Additionally, I would move the large flag so that it's flying at the very aft end of the deck, behind the ship's wheel. That'll allow you to display it flying in the same direction as you're sailing, and allow easy access should your crew decide to fly a false flag to sneak up on those foolish redcoats!
  17. I very much like the stern decor! Very nice!
  18. I have never seen its equal.
  19. So I had the thought, is there a collection of MOC figureheads on this site? If so, please let me know. If not, I'd like to encourage everyone to post theirs here. I'll lead off with the one I made for my 14-gun Thunderchild a while back.
  20. Of course, now you have to design and build a port capable of supporting this fine creation...
  21. Like you, I always wanted the Eldorado Fortress as a kid, but didn't actually get it until I was almost 30. This is an excellent reproduction, I would go so far as to say that it is BETTER than the original. Well done!
  22. So I was walking through Target today, and saw something that the rest of you are probably already aware of, but just tickled the hell out of me. Guess who's back... back again... Bluecoats are back... tell a friend!
  23. There are so many levels of awesome in this...
  24. Nice! A ripe target for my Thunderchild :-D http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66990&hl=thunderchild
  25. Are there 2 mid-sections in the hull?
