I love the hull decor that you've added, it gives a very distinct late 16th/early 17th century feel to the ship! We don't usually get a whole lot from that period on here.
-
Interesting... I'm having trouble making everything work in LDD, so this is just to approximate, but is the stern light attached via means similar to this?
-
Likewise, which is why I immediately opened LDD and started trying to copy the first one- hence my asking for more details on the stern, specifically in relation to how it attached to the rest of the boat.
-
I don't think you're petty, I was trying to suggest that you're trying a few different methods, but you were worried that we wouldn't like them.
-
Yeah, right. We know these are actually yours, and you're hunting for compliments, Kurigan :-P
-
As one who has about two dozen of these laying around with nothing to do with them... THANK YOU! These are excellent, and there is a roughly 90% chance that I will be borrowing some of these ideas in the future! Is there any chance we could get some detail shots of the stern of Jack Sparrow's boat, so we can see how it's held on?

Roughly how many studs long is this, excluding the bowsprit, if I might ask. -
I know that Chase Marees exist because of this thread... I'd actually kill to see you make a large ship, given all of the terrific smaller vessels you've made.

Ok, for some reason Brickshelf won't let me log in. I've created two separate accounts, but it still isn't working. Also, it won't send me password retrieval or confirmation e-mails. I'll keep trying, though. Mischa, the offer still stands, if you send me your e-mail address in a private message, I'll send you the file. Cousarmy

When I saw this had been bumped, and saw that Kurigan was the last poster, I was hoping he'd added something to this thread. I've got the file, Mischa, but it's too big to post here or to send in a private message, apparently. If you send me your e-mail address in a private message, though, I'll see if I can get it to you that way. Unless Kurigan has some suggestions for getting LDD files sent via this website. Cousarmy

Even more than the accordion, I like the use of the feather to create wine falling out of the woman's glass next to the accordion, and I'm definitely looking forward to more pictures of the cutter! Have you thought about making the barrel of the rusting cannon out of brown pieces instead of black? I have to agree that one of the best things about your recent sets are the playability. It certainly adds a great deal of fun to your layouts.

I love how random and disorganized it all is. Also a really big fan of the little privateer, and I love that you found a use for the old rope bridge!

I like a lot of this. The colors look good, and you added some good details to the hull. I also like the swivel guns, and the captain's cabin fits in surprisingly well with the rest of the ship. Speaking of the cabin, might we trouble you for a peek at the interior? I do have one criticism, though, but it might be difficult if impossible to change without undoing the entire ship. Generally when an ship gets this size, it's best to have some form of tumblehome in the hull. It doesn't have to be incredibly complex like Captain Greenhair's method (which looks great but can be a pain to implement, as I've learned with my attempts to copy it), but I personally think that multi-deck ships should not be straight up and down from top to bottom on the sides. I hope this doesn't sound too negative. There's a lot of good here, and I am quite impressed. When viewed from the sides, the ship looks terrific, and I love the details that you've added. Making multi-level decks that can all be removed is a very impressive feat as well, and you've executed that brilliantly.

There is *one* classic trope that I think it's missing. The monkey stealing the treasure chest.

I like it very much! Honestly, though, the thing that struck me the most was the parasol :-) I like the hustle and bustle of the place, and the ship feels very classic-y as well. Lots going on there, as should be the case in a busy harbor.

I always forget how small and lightly armed the Caribbean Clipper is- which is funny, because when I got mine back in the early 90s, it seemed freakin' huge! A very well done rendition. I particularly like all of the little details you added to the ship's decor. You have gained the highly vaunted Cousarmy0001 Seal of Approval!

Or India. Indian elephants have ivory too, right?

That's a lot of ivory! Clearly they've been to Africa :-D

I like this very much! An excellent build! By chance is there an interior?

Armament seems a bit light, though. You should try upgunning to the normal Lego cannons, Kurigan

Kurigan! You have ship rigging to fix, and sleeping to do! Leave the post bumping smackdowns to people like Phred!
