New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
TheLegoDr replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I agree with Fives the more I think about it. Originally I wanted a blue feather for the Falcon knight which I do still think would look really awesome. But just imagine a white feather atop the full black ensemble might be just the right amount of contrast he needs. I still like the blue color for the old faction, so if they did reintroduce them, I'd be happy with the black/white/blue or the black/white. But please not another green feather since we still have the dragons. Also, I noticed some people were originally upset because they wanted another dragon knight instead of a new faction. The new faction is surprising to me, but I welcome it. But regarding the new knight with new barding vs a new dragon knight with potentially the same barding (which was easily acquired in 7187 for cheap), I'm much happier with the new barding. Granted, if they chose to do a new dragon knight with new dragon barding, I would welcome that too. But I much prefer this new knight idea. Also, since the lion knight barding was only acquired through 7947 for much more than 7187 I welcome another lion barding into my army. If no other words to describe anything, I am excited. After further review of the pictures, the weapon stand and the flags all involve green/black which to me are reminiscent of the dragons (instead of gold/green), but that probably means the new falcon faction would have green/black with a little white thrown in. I do prefer the new black/green flag combination compared to the green/gold combination. -
Nice little vignette. It really captures the reference image well. If you notice the table in the image, it is a little sparse also, so no worries about you feeling your table is also sparse. I do like the cheese block for sure.

I like the zoo idea with various smaller sets to composite a larger zoo perhaps? That way different animals could be purchased instead of having to purchase one giant zoo. Duplo did something similar to that since we purchased that for the little one. A strip mall might work better than an actual mall that is all indoors. But the strip mall would be really basic since you can see what happens with their modular buildings that have a lot more detail.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive

As brilliant as this set is, I do hope they make some changes before the final product. One being the use of a generic dragon knight under the new armor instead of changing it to be more unique for this new Falcon. And the second being the dark green plume instead of a dark blue. I will change it if they don't, but if it is more like the Falcons of the past, they shouldn't use it dark green and use a dragon body. Other than the shield it doesn't feel like much of a new character then. I do really love the new armor piece and the new barding. The new shield is neat too, a nice little update. I am disappointed that the new barding/armor doesn't have an eagle crest anywhere though. Since all the other bardings have their crest somewhere on there, this new one is pretty generic. Don't get me wrong, I love how it looks and am glady accepting it. I just find it odd they didn't include that in the barding since every other faction has it in their barding. Two sets does look really neat back to back, but one set alone is pretty remarkable, plus at over 1500 pieces for $120, sounds great to me. When I first showed my wife the new pictures she said "that looks really neat." And I said well it is two sets back to back and she said "oh, well why don't you get two." I love that woman. I will be getting a ridiculous amount of legos come Christmas time, so I won't even have time to build this until probably February/March at the earliest. -
Great city skyline. Batman is A+ all the way, so this will be a great finished product.

I love AC. Good build. Interesting concept. The game has a lot of features to build on.

Very interesting tale. A story that we all know quite well in other works. I have been drawn to the Dragon Masters a lot since I received my old legos from storage. Probably drawn to them because I thought I had a lot more than what I did. I have the urge to buy up old sets/figures to amass a larger army. But time will tell. I do like this build. The rocks in the water are probably my favorite part. That and the fact it is Dragon Masters!

Katarina will cut you so bad you wished you didn't get cut so bad. Interesting backstory. I can't wait to see the ship!

I had the same issue and received my chrome gold coins about a week after I did the online part replacement. I stated the set name and that it did not come with chrome gold coins but of a pearl gold color and that others have had the same issue. They sent me an email saying they were sending out the replacement part and I received the chrome gold. I didn't send any part numbers other than the set number. They seemed to know what was up.

That's the only time I've heard of them being discounted. I was told it said "clearance" with a red sticker, but I have yet to see them that cheap anywhere else. So that is odd for sure. -
Cecilie's Collectable Minifigures vignettes - series 5
TheLegoDr replied to Cecilie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very clever scenes for each minifig. I really like the curtains for the graduate and the scene with the mobster. But great work overall. Much more creative than I could do. -
Echo Nice little squadron. It is good to seeing new life in this thread. I never had any of the KKII or KKI for that matter, so the shields and different style of factions is always welcome. I finally received all of my legos from my parents garage (in storage for 15 years), so they are quite dirty/dusty. Once I get them sorted and cleaned, I will be posting some of my classic castle armies.

That was my plan. I love the torsos. Although I only have 5 and was quite satisfied with that. Amazing that you have 31 already! It took me forever to find the 5. -

I wanted a handful of dwarves and got them with the feel method. I don't plan on getting any more, but I do agree that having more shields/axes would be good. I also wanted more torsos to build up an army, but not of necessarily only dwarves. And like a lot of people, missed out on the fantasy era, so they may want to build up dwarves much cheaper with these minifigs compared to the aftermarket price of the fantasy era dwarves. -
The recreation looks amazing. Probably fun to drive around The car's worst enemy: speed bumps in parking lots...

I really like that ice cream maker and the blender. My mom has an ice cream maker very similar to that and I recall many delicious milkshakes as a child.

I thought I was actually in a hurricane when I saw this. Great work.

I like that the horses have different hair colors and the idea of different flags/color schemes for different factions is a good idea. I'm sure the actual quality would be laughable, let alone some of their concepts of weaponry and headgear.

I agree that it wouldn't be impossible, but improbable for that many sets to come out for one giant setting of LOTR. The only way any store could handle that is if Lego had scheduled release dates that would essentially remove the previous from the shelves to make room for the next series of sets. The problem of course is many people missing out on the previous sets before it gets "discontinued," which again, would cause dramatic financial shifts for Lego and the consumer. I do not see that happening personally. I do see LOTR sets like the one previously shown in LDD and letting your imagination fill in the gaps. That, of course, would not fly for most AFOLs, let alone children wanting the sets since there isn't a ton of playability and more than likely a higher price tag because of it. I am probably different than most people, but I have only purchased the licensed sets when they were on some sort of sale. Never full price. To wait that long for LOTR to come on sale, that would be difficult. I missed out on the first Fantasy era and I'm not heartbroken about it. But I think Lego could catch a few stragglers with a new release of Fantasy in the next few years. I don't see it happening while Kingdoms is going though.

I really like Llurg Gondrog, the unstoppable troll warrior, and his traveling partner Wyrf Lobo, the wolfman. What a duo. I can just picture them strolling through the forest at night.

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
TheLegoDr replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I can't imagine how many legos I would buy with 1 million dollars! Overall landscape is looking brilliant! I do like the flow as someone stated previously. It does appear more realistic due to the size of the buildings compared to a minifig size, but I also like the smaller real lego versions that aren't so enormous. But brilliant detail work as everyone else stated! I do love that signature shot. -
I do enjoy the interior shots as well. I'm glad to see a few more entrances from above. I'm reminded of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with all their little hiding places under branches/leaves. I agree a pseudo-sleeping area would be nice to see and there would be plenty of room for such. Keep up the good work!
-
Nice work! I like how it looks like a cliffside and no one would ever suspect there are entrances hidden to hide out. Brilliant! And I do miss those Forestmen. I have about 17 of them and grew pretty fond of them.

I was just informed I will have Whitecap Bay and London Escape waiting for me under the Christmas tree. It ruins a surprise, but I was only told which sets were purchased because Whitecap bay was $55 instead of $80 and London Escape was $35 instead of $50 at a local Target recently! So I'd say good savings and I am really excited to build these sets. I just saw a review for Whitecap Bay and will be really pleased with the set-up. -
I like the concept. It does add a hidden dimension to it. Although, it isn't a very quick hideout if it takes that many people to open the entrance.
