  1. I agree with this completely. I don't imagine people buying huge expensive sets multiple times to build something "life-like" for their minifigures. A few people might, but the vast majority would not because they want to spend their money on other licensed sets or other sets in the same line. I can picture battle packs selling well for the sole purpose of the army builders since there are so many armies in LOTR. Various city armies, orcs, elves, dwarves would/could easily sell much better than some giant set multiple times. People love the collectible minifigures and people would love to see the characters from LOTR in lego form. I am one of those people. I don't like LOTR enough to spend tons of money on sets multiple times, but to see the people in minifigure form would make me want to buy the sets and/or battle packs more freely. The same goes for the new superhero theme. People keep talking about how the minifigures look and how they want this one and that one, but I haven't seen that much interest in the actual set other than getting the figures.
  2. Very impressive build! One of my favorite weapons in the game for sure. This is very close to a carbon copy. He should build the energy sword next! haha
  3. The greenery and the automobiles are awesome!
  4. I never had any interest in the games because I didn't plan on playing them. The thought only occurred to me now and again for buying them for the pieces. I didn't realize some of these games had such good pieces!
  5. Very clever build! I really like the straw structure. Exactly as one would picture it.
  6. Fantu Impressive Elf Army. I was pleased with my 5, but I am impressed with yours. SirSven7 I actually like your "grainier" images. It makes the dungeon look seem more realistic. It adds another dimension so to speak. But new photos are always welcome here. Andonii I'm sure you can heavily modify any set you want. Or you can create something unique for everyone to enjoy. The choice is yours I do believe.
  7. I like the rock-work. Very eye grabbing tower. The waterfall is excellent as well.
  8. Very clever build. I know there isn't a well there, but by seeing it, my mind thinks there is one! Brilliant.
  9. I don't really care about the boot stripe, but I agree on everything else. The fleshie torso was much, much better and we definitely need the bracelets! The promo version is significantly better. However, when I saw the new one without the promo one, I liked it very much. Now that I've seen something better, I am disappointed. Ah, the joys of naivety.
  10. That second one may be the best picture ever!
  11. I know nothing about the subject matter, but the build/decal is very clever and exquisitely done. Brilliant work! I have never used decals before, but I want to start customizing. I have never heard of this dry rub decal paper. It sounds promising.
  12. It is not necessarily my dream license, but I'm surprised they haven't done something with Chronicles of Narnia. They already have a Disney deal and they have Minotaurs coming out in the new CMF series 6. They just need fawns and whatever other creatures in the movies. Granted, I think the movies haven't done as well lately like the original one, but it would make sense to continue on with some of the Fantasy idea. A dream theme would be 1920/30/40s gangster era. They came out with the new gangster/mafia man in the series 5 CMF. To add that to a license, I suppose they would have to come out with another new movie/show. I haven't seen it, but Boardwalk Empire? maybe, or of course you think of The Untouchables or Public Enemies, but those are in the past so a license wouldn't come of it. I didn't care for the movie, but I agree as mentioned, an Avatar theme might work well. It might be neat seeing blue lego people.
  13. That is amazing. I used to really be into Blacktron and M-Tron, but it was always a side note on the rest of my collection. That is brilliantly done. It is making me want to get back into space now. Thanks a lot! Brilliant work though.
  14. SirSven7 Very clever build and back story. Good work!
  15. Captain Roger I don't know what I meant by Skeleton Treasure. I think the set was named that and when I typed it, I must have left out a word. It came with a skeleton and some treasure. If you read closer, I said they have some quality control issues and compared to Lego they are an inferior product, but if you haven't known anything else, it wouldn't be a bad product, especially for the price. My stating the overall quality not being bad was referring to the sticking power between the blocks. Everyone mentions how things don't stick well at all and these were snug enough without causing any stress to remove them. I may be reading into this, but your post comes off as upset that I purchased and wrote about this product. No one has to run out and purchase any of these sets after reading what I wrote. I was simply letting the readers know my experience with the product. I still choose Lego above and beyond any other brand. I haven't had much experience with anything other than Lego, so it was worthwhile to spend a few dollars to see what else exists.
  16. I am just assuming since I don't have any, but I think maybe the Orc arms were sand green? And I would imagine a lot of people have extras of those if they purchased any of the Fantasy Era sets. Sadly, I did not, so I only have the CMF Elf also. But I have not tried to switch those arms out of their torso, so they may have a QC issue. I have tried with many other lego products, even earlier Crusader/Black Falcon figures from 20 years ago and those don't seem to be loose or cracked, so I'm not sure.
  17. fhomess Looking back I was stupid for not buying multiples of the same set, but I agree, it just never dawned on me to do such a thing. I was looking through some of my old catalogs (yes, I still have every single catalog from 20 years ago) and they actually had battle packs back in the day of 6 figures, with weapons and shields for $6.50... If you can believe that price. I only had one, but I would have asked my mom for dozens for Christmas.
  18. This is actually something I was planning on building. I was just waiting on more brown pieces to build a larger tree. But this is beautifully done. I very much like it. I was going to do a few trees of larger height and then connect them with one of those "rope" bridges from Forbidden Island. It'd look really neat. The Forestmen know how to work the trees in their favor. Brilliant work!
  19. Yet another good and interesting read about classic Lego. I always had a soft spot in my heart for the Wolfpack gang. But I loved all of them up to Dragon Masters. It is weird that they only had the three sets, but like some of the more popular series will only have a few sets for some reason. Maybe at the time it wasn't selling well, so they scrapped it prematurely. I have one copy of each set, but I wouldn't mind getting more, if I were sent back in time. The brown and black look is rather distinguishable (if that is even a word) for these figures. I don't recall other themes borrowing those two to complement each other. I like the Hideout look with the black wall and red roof (a la Black Knights), so very much appreciated they would keep the same appeal. The keychain version is neat, but I don't really picture them ever having full fledged chain armor. They were bandits and such would rather spend their money on frivolous things like women and mead instead of armor to battle with. They would much rather get in and get out I believe. But neat nonetheless. I recently purchased my first and only Bull Knight. The crest is neat, but I doubt I will do anything more than get that one. The background is distracting, but at the same time, I like it. It shows the variances in Lego in all its glory. You could tone it down, but keep the same overall feel I think. Keep up the great work. I look forward to reading more! Heck, I'll reread the blogs already!
  20. I pop arms in and out all the time and have yet to see a cracked side. I would imagine it would need many repetitions and ongoing stress to crack, or old age of course. I suppose be careful with it if you are concerned.
  21. On Stranger Tides You have yourself a growing army. I rather like what I see. I missed out on the Crownies so I don't have any of those, but the ranks look impressive.
  22. My 3 Targets still have it at the full price, not the extreme discounted price. Too bad.
  23. Sir Rathbone of Sheridan shall join Avalonia for victory or pain of death. Pictures to soon follow.
  24. I recently purchased a very small set of Enlighten via eBay just to see the quality. It was reasonably priced for what you got in the box so I thought I would give it a go. Plus I had ebay bucks to spend or they would expire so it wasn't any extra money out of my pocket other than shipping from China. I would say the overall quality isn't bad considering all of the hate for anything non-Lego. The colors definitely do not match up, but there is some good sticking power between enlighten/enlighten and enlighten/lego, so that works I suppose. In the parcel, I received a pirate, some weapons, a bird, and a skeleton treasure. The new torso is welcome, but the legs were a little off-kilter. The multicolored bird was neat. The skeleton head didn't fit on the body. And the gold crown and coins were a really weird bronze color instead of gold, which I guess is realistic since not everything is the same color. The box itself was really small since I'm so used to Lego's oversized packing material. Although I rather like the larger pictures/scenes on the Lego boxes. All in all, it isn't a terrible product, but they could certainly use better quality control. If you've never known anything else, it would be good. But after knowing Lego as the gold standard, it is hard to compare.
  25. wow, I had no idea. I never look at the trees on bricklink since I have so many from the original sets. But that is crazy indeed! So combine the price of the figures and the trees and it would be really ridiculous.
