  1. Great armies K-nut! The gladiator helmet does work well since it is so different. And the Star Wars figure does blend in fairly well. Plus it adds another dimension since not every "orc" would probably be the same race/breed. Good variety!
  2. Great armies Ogre! I just started getting a few vikings and would definitely like to build up a troll army, but since I missed the boat on that one it will be a little pricier than I want. As far as the Vikings, I don't mind the helmets with the horns. It doesn't have to be historically accurate, I think it looks good. It is different than every other faction so that works in their favor. But I agree with adding hair to some of the characters would work well. My intention was making more of a barbarian horde with the vikings instead of an "army" army.
  3. Ordered 4 Vikings and a few chain mails and a bull knight. These will be my first Vikings other than the series 4 CMF. I probably won't build a large army of Vikings, but I have been drawn to them recently for some reason. And I definitely will build up the Bulls more in the near future.
  4. Well I can finally say I have ONE army larger than yours. But it won't last long I'm sure!
  5. The whole MOC is great. But I absolutely love the cattle skull above the saloon. Brilliant work. The entire town feels alive, but desolate just like the wild west.
  6. I've never seen Vladek's castle before. It actually looks pretty good. But they definitely forgot a few of the classic beauties that deserved that list much more than what they gave us.
  7. Everyone already took my praises. I love the beach, the emblem/crest on the side!, the pulley/crane is brilliant. And I really like the balcony. Overall great work!
  8. I hate to say it, but size doesn't matter. At least in lego army building. Sure, a large real army would be beneficial just due to sheer numbers, but a small group of well trained warriors could defeat much larger less weaponed/trained armies. But yes, the most money could build the biggest army, but like stated above, the biggest army isn't necessarily the best. Plus, Magnus the Great shows wonderful little factions that are more interesting than one large group of clones. Although I do like seeing that large group of clones also for the "wow" factor!
  9. Amazing work here. I'm a sucker for landscaping and this easily takes the cake. That waterfall is spectacular also. I would agree that it really looks cascading.
  10. Interesting back stories. I really like the dragon masters with them being the chosen few. I've really been into the whole dragon concept lately for some reason.
  11. As everyone else will agree with, the price point is way too high. But I will also agree that the set itself seems to be rather enjoyable. I like the big wheels on the carriage. And the overall design of the carriage is nice. I don't care too much for the "action" these days, but I suppose that is what kids want. Good review. It shows us everything the set has to offer and more.
  12. Interesting read! I always loved Black Falcons. Although, why are they the black falcons if somewhere else they were eagle crest? Eagles and falcons are different, are they not? Either way, I enjoyed their colors/crest and the fact they weren't super well known. They were my favorite for sure! After reading this, I definitely didn't have as many of sets as I thought I did.
  13. Of course the diner is really quaint and a great build. But I am going to say I absolutely love that theater. I always liked the official Lego release, but after seeing this one, I am in awe. I definitely enjoy seeing all of those details. Forget about the exterior looking great, but then you add in all that interior detail. Brilliant work. Keep it up!
  14. I will concur! I love those old sets.
  15. The for now means everyone else better hurry before you own every single minifig available for purchase! How realistic do you want to be? I'd say uniformity is more pleasing to the eye, especially since most of your other armies are going to be uniform, but probably not as realistic.
  16. 5 at bricklink for elves? What a steal! Granted I don't know the conversion from Euro to USD off the top of my head, but they are around $9 on ebay here. Luckily I found one for 4.50 with shipping so it was a steal comparitively. And the bolded statement sounds like Steve Martin in The Jerk. Very comical. I agree. I haven't really purchased many of the CMFs, but I am a huge fan of minifigs in general also.
  17. Well, I will agree with this statement. I didn't much care for CMF S1 Forestman personally. So if they made them all like that, then no I wouldn't want a new forestman theme. I currently don't own a S1 minifig forestman, but I didn't have any desire to get one either. I will agree also that other new factions could be good. In all of history, there were more than any 2 kingdoms at any given time, so the more the merrier (no robin hood pun intended).
  18. Unfortunately I am at work, so no pictures. But I believe my first figure was one of the classic space guys from the mid-80s. Although I think he might have been black, but I could be mistaken since I would've been 2 or 3 at the time.
  19. I would say Kingdoms is the appropriate next step since they did the whole fantasy element. I was in the dark ages since the mid-90s so I had no clue as to what happened between then and now. I only recently (May 2011) got back into castle and legos in general, so I missed out on a lot of other themes. I will agree it is a good step for the new molds of animals and the whole civilian/peasant idea. They definitely need more of that instead of just battles (yet another good point that was already brought up). Of course, any kingdom needs an army, but other things happen also. At first glance, I was not interested in the fantasy theme, and I'm still not to some degree, but the idea of it is appealing the more I think about it. Do I wish lego to return to fantasy? Not necessarily. I think human vs human with peasants is a good direction to take for now. And I will again agree that a forestmen revival would be spectacular! For whatever reason, my favorites as a kid were forestmen and wolfpack renegades. I guess because it added another dimension to the whole battle/army building idea. Not true civilian, but not true castle either. Does it live up to my Castle expectations? Short answer, yes. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future.
  20. I am a fan of that roof. And great tree design. I've been trying to come up with good trees for a forest concept.
  21. The way you are buying them, there won't be any left! A self-fulfilling prophecy I do believe. Although, this one will work IN your favor.
  22. Nice little back history there. I always loved the older castle theme and naturally loved the Crusaders. I knew I had most of the sets and after reading that, I now know of a few I didn't have. This makes me feel nostalgic now.
  23. Very neat concept! I doubt I would switch over from the large bars secondary to price, but I like how they look!
  24. Very inspiring! This really makes me want to get the Fire Brigade now. And I will agree, that pool table is really neat looking.
  25. Okay, that makes more sense. A second trip would be annoying for sure.
