  1. I could go for a new storyline for X-Men. I Love the X-Men and just like in comic form, different stories can develop depending on the writing team, so why can't the same happen with movies?? Not everything has to be set in stone and it doesn't technically have to be a reboot either. It just has a different storyline to satisfy our wants. I can't wait to see what happens.
  2. That looks awesome. I think everyone loved Casey Jones, he kicked major megablocks. I hadn't seen that head before, so that's interesting. I may have to look into that.
  3. I think these all look great. It'll be neat seeing them in hand.
  4. I would definitely be interested in some Assassin's Creed (and Dark Knight) figures if the printing ever works out. Let us know what you find out about quality and pricing. These are looking awesome.
  5. In all honesty, I may end up picking up a lot more of these than originally expected. I have been a bit disappointed with other themes for the winter wave, so this may end up taking the spill over of the money. I may keep some for parts packs and I will most likely give the rest to the wife/daughter to build with.
  6. I was just at a LegoLand discovery center earlier this week and I didn't see any polybags like that. They had a witch head and turkey polybag, but that was it. Maybe others have them though.
  7. So far it looks awesome. I am a huge HP fan, so this is right up my alley...get it. Anyway, I think the sets look great. I loved the official set, but seeing MOCs at a different scale is brilliant. The windows look really well done and the color scheme works well for Diagon Alley. I considered doing something similar, but who knows if I will get around to it. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see more.
  8. Thanks for the review. I'm torn on this set. I don't mind being a completist, but that Gollum is barely different from the Shelob version from my looking at Brickset. His eyes are more squinty and he might be showing more teeth, but that is about it. Not sure if it is worth the 10$. I may wait until after I get the other sets to decide. But the red coat Bilbo is neat. Maybe a second coat would come in handy. I don't mind the rock pieces. They needed to add something. I don't know much about that part of the book/movie, so I don't know how accurate it is.
  9. To show some love from my Hoosier alma mater, instead of Pur-do more like Pur-don't! All kidding aside, that is interesting that it reached 10k, but good for them. I don't plan on buying it, but I'm not into college sports. There are a lot of great sets on CUUSOO, but I haven't supported anything yet. Although I am interested to see what happens with the Western set.
  10. Thanks for the information. I don't know if I'll have any sets to buy at that time!! That stinks, it sounds like a really awesome Holiday set. I didn't get last year's set because I already had everything ordered before then. I wonder how much this will go for in the aftermarket.
  11. Out of the world amazing. Great scale. Very clever build techniques. I would never imagine something like this. It doesn't even look like LEGO, which is a very exceptional MOC. I've never heard/seen anything about LEGO doll clothes?? Keep up the amazing work!
  12. My daughter loooves that movie. You nailed it. Good job. I was planning on making a version for her sometime when she is a little older. Keep up the good work!
  13. I finally was able to visit a LEGO brand store and got my first Pick-a-brick cup. I will tally up the totals later to see what I ended up with. I was overwhelmed with the great piece overload. Although, I didn't notice any flowers or flower stalks there. They had a few leaves, but that is about it. They mostly had bricks, which was great. Looking back, I should have bought another cup, but I already did enough damage while I was there. I'll have to tally up the totals later tonight to share with everyone. Edit: I finally tallied up my totals. 7 white 1x16 brick 7 white 2x2 brick 5 tan 2x2 brick 10 light blue gray 2x4 brick 15 reddish-brown 1x4 brick 27 light blue gray 1x4 brick 8 black 1x2 grill brick 18 yellow 1x2 brick 5 blue 1x4 plate 13 yellow 1x4 plate 7 yellow flower piece (not sprue) 12 dark blue gray 1x1 brick 39 med blue 1x2 brick 10 trans black 1x2 brick 8 trans clear 1x2x2 pane 22 trans clear 1x2 brick 25 tan 1x2 log brick 88 dark red 1x2 brick 10 tan 2x2 corner plate 3 black antennae 4 black 1x2 ladder hooks 2 green leaf pieces 6 trans red 1x1 tile 2 light blue gray 1x2 tile with gauges 3 dark trans blue 2x2 round brick 21 white 1x2 grill tile 4 light blue gray 1x2 plate with 1 finger 4 light blue gray 1x2 plate with 2 finger 20 trans clear 1x1 round plate 134 reddish-brown 1x4 tile 537 total pieces at approximately $0.03/piece. Not too shabby I would say. I was rushed at the end because we had a toddler with us, so I just tossed things in and didn't place them as I normally would have. Next time I will definitely be smarter about which pieces I want. This was my first outing so I was just grabbing everything I could. Putting everything back into the cup without stacking things I couldn't fit any dark red, medium blue, trans clear, trans black, or white bricks. So approximately 200 less pieces if I just tossed things in insouciantly. I am excited to go back, but I will be sure and put these pieces to good use.
  14. AncientDayz - I would say go for Helm's Deep at that price! I am waiting on it for Christmas, but the set looks neat. But I've been a huge fan of the license so far, so that's why I have it. Out of older castles, I have no idea what good prices are for used, but my absolute favorite LEGO castle is Black Knight's Castle with the red roofing and yellow paned wall. It is beautiful. At the very least, try to bricklink those pieces and build it yourself. It's great. PocasNuckie - I would say if you are on the fence with that large set and would rather buy two of another set, go for the two! The green ninja is neat, but you can certainly get it a cheaper way, so that might be best for what your needs are. Plus it might save some money? I don't know how much Ninjago sets cost normally. For me now, I will pose another question. I just had my first visit to a LEGO brand store and went overboard for Christmas. http://www.eurobrick...ic=3704&st=7550 (#7554) However, I accumulated more VIP points, so now I am sitting at 130. I am at a crossroads. I was contemplating the Tower Bridge earlier and that would take out over half of the cost to make it more affordable. It does look appealing and it would be a great parts pack since I'm big into Modular MOCs these days, but I've always been a castle fan at heart and The Joust caught my eye when it was first announced. Obviously I don't need extras of a lot of those minifigures, but Bricklink definitely makes you pay for the select unique figures. It is probably worth it just to buy the whole set in the long run and it would be free with VIP points. Or do I go another route and knock out a huge chunk of the Town Hall so I can MOC with that. Too many big decisions. I do plan on buying Arkham and those sets next year, but I might as well get some of these earlier releases first. To sum up: 130 VIP points. Do I go with Tower Bridge for over half off, Joust for free, or Town Hall for over half off? Thanks in advance
  15. I haven't purchased a lot of LEGO in a while, so I haven't posted in here. However... I had my first visit to a LEGO Brand store in Kansas City recently and let's just say, it will be a memorable one. Haunted House Winter Village Inn Palpatine's Arrest Pet Shop Large Pick-a-brick cup Build-a-minifigure Wedding topper set Duplo Cinderella's Castle (for my daughter) Friends advent calendar (last one in stock!!) Plus, thanks to double VIP points month, I would say I came out nicely. Granted, this is all for Christmas other than the Pick-a-brick. Definitely check out that store, the workers there were great. Too bad I live 3 hours away and won't be returning for quite some time.
  16. Going back to the Technodrome MOC, I agree about finding one aspect you like the size of and work with that. Even if it isn't minifigure scale doesn't mean it wouldn't look awesome and look spot on. How often has TLG actually had a minifigure scale set? Their sets still look awesome and work well even if the scale seems off. That's the beauty of LEGO!
  17. I agree with a lot here. Try working in a different scale at first and see how you come up. I have only bricklinked a few times, but I definitely feel I have a larger collection. According to Brickset, I have over 80,000 pieces, so I try to avoid ordering more if I can get away with it. And by limiting yourself you actually learn to build better and better. If I limit myself to only using the pieces/colors I have, I end up coming up with more creative ways to design things. I haven't won any contests by doing that yet, but I have been pretty satisfied with the end result. And my skills and collection are growing all the time, so with time, things can only go up. I would recommend keep branching out like that. If you can't visit a pick-a-brick wall or can't bricklink, set up some guidelines for your builds. You'll be happy once you finish something you set out to do.
  18. The curved building is really neat! The walkway is important and a great aspect. I like how you incorporated it all. I may have to consider doing something similar to this in my town layout, if I ever sit down to create one. Keep up the good work. Very impressive techniques.
  19. Just like little boys don't want girly minifigures, it seems their extensive market research shows girls don't want to roleplay with boy minidolls. It must be official. Not to start a debate, but I do agree they need to level the playing field a bit. Just like AFOLs want more female minifigures, I'm sure girls want more male dolls to inhabit their play scenarios. But looking at the sets, I would say I'm a bit happier with this wave than the very first wave. The bright colors are more subdued, but still present. Lots of fun new pieces/recolored pieces, so I'm excited for that. That water-coolor does look inventive. I may have to borrow that. I know I will be for sure getting Olivia's foal and the big waterslide set for my daughter. I may pick up the dojo set for myself. With the other lackluster sets coming out next winter, I may have to buy some more Friends stuff. Thanks for the pictures!
  20. I will be going to my first LEGO brand retail store next week when I visit Kansas City and I am torn. I definitely want to pick up the Haunted House and the Winter Village Set, but I am contemplating the Tower Bridge. I assume it will be out of production sooner than later, so I am aware of the urgency to pick it up, but does anyone own it? What are everyone's thoughts? I like the overall detail and I don't own any of those big display pieces like that, but I can't help but wonder maybe the money could be spent elsewhere, like the Joust or Pet Shop or both! My mom told me to spend $500 for Christmas, so I'm sure I'll end up spending a bit out of pocket, not a problem. Any thoughts?? Thanks
  21. Thanks for the review. I was planning on getting this. I love the Holiday sets. The only downside to make it realistic to have enough room for everyone it would have to be much bigger and it is already a pretty big set. But I am a fan of the details they put into it. I actually like the little tree and the toys. I hadn't considered the green countertops to be granite or marble, but that is a good imagination. I will be picking this up for Christmas next week when I make my first visit to a LEGO store.
  22. Somehow I missed that when I first observe the figures. I think the CC picture really stands out, but somehow I didn't notice it was that gray. And the Batman only shot looks more white/light gray than it actually is, but still gray nonetheless. Thanks for the links. I don't know why I acted surprised too.
  23. Finally pictures. Thank you! I was intrigued when I first saw that Lion figure. Now after seeing many of the sets, I am not interested, which is a good thing. I was worried about money for 2013, but it seems to be falling into place so far. The figures do look neat and I think the speedorz will be a fun game for people. I may pick up some of the smaller sets to sample the series and give them to my daughter since she liked the spinners, but I'm not dying to "have them all." I actually do really like the hawks/eagles factions, mostly because of the wings, but I love that big bird vehicle. And the lion big tank looks neat, I love the lion head on that. The colors are great and the box art is beautiful. I'm sure it will be or has already be(en) explained about why pretty much all of the figures have the weird shoulder pad piece with the blue light chest tile. Other than that, I like the figures and I can't wait to see the torsos underneath those shoulder/chest pieces. Edit: I guess you do see the torsos on some of the figures. Maybe I'll just wait until larger more Hi-Res photos surface.
  24. I love seeing the new sets, but for some reason I thought the new Batman was white? He has a white cowl with a gray torso and pants. I don't know what made me think he was all-white. The Batboat is better than expected. Aquaman is kind of a throw away figure in this set, but it is great to get him. No respect. The Marvel set is neat. I don't care about Spiderman, but the other two figures are great and the vehicles look really neat. Whatever gets Fury and Venom in a cheap set.
  25. Thanks for the statistics. That looks like a lot of work, but you were dedicated! I only got into LEGO SW in 2012, so I can't say I've been unhappy with the distribution of sets. I don't care for the CW faces, even if they are accurate to the source material. I haven't watched that show at all, so maybe the story-lines are awesome, I don't know. When I was first exposed to SW I saw them in order, essentially. Prequel movies then the original trilogy, which is different to most people. I can appreciate the originals because of the cast and story and effect on pop culture, but I also could appreciate the prequels because of the cast. I was more familiar with them. I think too much humor was involved so it did ruin it to a degree, but seeing earlier days of Jedi was pretty neat. But with that said, I essentially grew up with the PT (I'm 28 now) instead of the OT, even though I can appreciate both. Since I only just started into LEGO SW and I'm not a die hard fan, it probably won't change my purchases too much. If I see a neat set of something/one I'm familiar with, then I will probably want to get it. Since I don't care for the CW faces and don't know much about those characters, I won't be excited for those figures. The Sith Nightspeeder set was neat because of the Sith figures, even though they weren't traditional canon. But I agree as long as there are good sets for everyone, it doesn't really matter the ratio. Everyone will want to get something. And with the printing and designs, I can see lots of people being happy at everything other than the price.
