  1. When I first got back into LEGO in fall of 2010 I was lost to the world of LEGO. Basically everything that has been mentioned crossed my mind. I was unsure of numbered bags when I first saw those. I thought they would hinder the build, but they actually make it more organized and convenient. I don't always have time to build a full set, so instead of trying to sort out each piece and giving up, I can build it in stages when I have time and all of the pieces will be sorted for me. I prefer numbered bags now because of it. I recall being a child and missing a piece somewhere and then having to backtrack to find out where I went wrong. Now if I have extra pieces within one little bag or a series of bags then I know I would have messed up within those pages of that bag instead of getting closer to the end and missing a crucial point. I wasn't a fan of the boxes. I missed the flip lids on larger sets like BSB. I like the cover art now but I still miss having the flip lid at times. Makes me wish I kept boxes when I was a child. I don't like the quality control issues with color, but LEGO doesn't seem to be doing much about it and people keep buying sets so there isn't much reason to fix it at the moment.
  2. Nice work Oky. The Red Hood is brilliant. And I've noticed Voldy's nose before, but I've never paid attention to it. At least it isn't as terrible as the mid-90s Native American noses. I'm not sure what LEGO was thinking with that.
  3. Brilliant. Looks great compared to the source material. I haven't seen too many of these Wonder Woman covers. Good luck in the contest!
  4. Funny. I haven't seen that one before. Good job. Very fitting with the source material. Good luck in the contest.
  5. Look almost exactly like the source material. Good job. Good luck in the contest.
  6. Great placement! I think it is very fitting. I would agree about adding in some more yellow in the background, but otherwise it looks as spot on as LEGO can be. Good luck in the contest.
  7. Umm, awesome! I don't think that word describes it though. Very creative use of pieces for Harley's mouth and eyes. The set-up is brilliant with the Bat and Joker placement. That really is the best sizing I've seen in a long time. Good luck on the contest. I don't think I'll be entering now.
  8. Top Ten. How can we limit it to so few? In no order: 1) Helm's Deep 2) Haunted House 3) Winter Village Cottage 4) Shelob Attacks 5) Tie Fighter 6) Joust 7) Town Hall 8) Fun House Escape 9) Jabba's Palace 10) Zombies I take back my original statement. I had a hard enough time coming up with 10! May the best set win.
  9. I normally don't buy multiples just because of so many great sets/themes that it is difficult to spread the money out to multiples. Unless it is on clearance or as a gift. I have two Uruk-Hai armies but one was from my wife and one was from my mom, so it wasn't us buying multiples. When they clearanced Kingdoms last year I ended up with 8 Escape from Dragon Prison sets and 2 King's Carriage and I don't know how many Knight Showdown and the Dragon wagon set. Everything at half off is a lot more tempting to get multiples. I do agree that MMV would be a great set to have a 2nd version of, but with all of these other new sets I need/want I won't be buying a second MMV. But typically with extras I piece it out to MOC with and then collect my armies. I really wish I wasn't a minifigure fan. Most sets I buy because of how awesome the figures are. If I didn't like them I would buy more multiples of certain sets and then sell off the figures on eBay.
  10. I saw 4 of the Hobbit sets at my local Wal-Mart tonight (Lincoln, NE). We are in the middle of the country so I would be amazed if pretty much everywhere doesn't have them now. It seems like we are the last to receive any new product the majority of the time. I didn't buy any since I am waiting for a sale and my Christmas haul is already ridiculous. Happy hunting everyone.
  11. Those set names sound amazing. I really can't wait to see what this theme brings us. I may have to hold off on buying some other themes in anticipation for this one just to save some money. But who knows about summer LOTR either. Castle awesomeness overload!
  12. I think the figure is spot on. I love it. Although I think Haldir might be the best looking figure in the line-up. But with a long blue cape Elrond would be right up there. The colors do work pretty well together. I mostly don't like the dark green on the pants and then the dark blue on the torso. I also emailed LEGO about the short cape and they told me it was never supposed to have a long cape. I think I am going to contact them again about it and see if by talking to someone else they can sort it out. It seems to be hit or miss with customer service for me. One moment they will say they can't sell any licensed pieces, then another time the person will be willing to sell it to me. Really odd. Thanks for the review. I think it is brilliant and a great addition to the series. Hopefully we'll get other versions of Elrond with his crown in the future. You should also include the shot of Elrond with his mouth agape and the figure because that is frighteningly accurate.
  13. So I don't get online for one day because I'm on vacation and this is what I miss. I was just near TRU tonight, but I never go in there. If I had known about this I would have checked it out. But the Wal-Mart I was at did have all of the Hobbit sets (other than the exclusives). I didn't buy any since I am waiting for a sale like the LOTR sets. But it was nice seeing them. Obviously this polybag would be better with the elf headpiece, but as it is, the torso and green hood are amazing. I will definitely pick one up if I ever get to TRU, maybe tomorrow.. Thanks for the heads up everyone.
  14. I did a site to store on the MF since it is out of stock online, probably clearing out their back-stock. So try to find it at a local store if possible. I tried multiple WM around me and all showed available online but then they would cancel my order because it wasn't available, until I finally found one that worked. Good luck.
  15. I'm sorry to hear that. That is ridiculous that proof of purchase wouldn't be enough PROOF. That's the whole point of a receipt isn't it? I've never shopped from Amazon Italy since I live in the states, but the last few things I've received from Amazon USA didn't have receipts with them, which is odd. Good luck. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.
  16. Well the LEGO rep lied to me then. He said they don't make dark blue long capes and that it was an error on the packaging. Basically telling me I'm SOL. It's really luck of the draw with LEGO reps from my experience because I'm never mean to anyone. I am always super friendly and even apologize for bothering them to no avail. I guess I'll just contact them again about it since others seem to be getting a long blue cape.
  17. That was a fun little watch. I can't wait to see if any of those get designed. I would gladly welcome all into my collection. If they only made LOTR sets next year and no other theme, I would be okay with that
  18. Lucky for you guys. The GameStop here wasn't super friendly about customer service, let alone the figures. They forgot all about the pre-order bonus. I had to remind them of it. They were more concerned with Call of Duty I guess.
  19. Thanks for the video of the boxes. I am also really surprised at how small the Mirkwood box is. Isn't that a $30 set? I definitely wouldn't feel like I was getting my money's worth out of that, but maybe that is LEGO trying to cut down cardboard costs. It's like the POTC Cabin set and I think Ninjago Venomari Shrine, granted those were cheaper but I recall seeing different sized boxes for them. Too bad we don't have a K-Mart here. They always seem to have good sales for some reason. We have ShopKo (which is very similar but they mark up their sets like TRU). But otherwise I haven't seen any Hobbit sets in this part of NE yet. They aren't due out for another 2 weeks almost so I'm not surprised. Plus I won't be buying any until after the 1st of the year anyway.
  20. I did break down and open my Elrond tonight. I was very hesitant, but since I won't be selling him, I thought no reason to be locked in that polybag prison forever (especially being immortal and whatnot). It does look reallly nice. The printing is really terrible on the ears though. SheepEater - That's weird that your Elrond has dark green printing on the torso. Mine definitely has dark blue near the shoulders and then dark green on the legs. It doesn't necessarily clash, but it seems like a big mish-mash of colors. And the tiny blue cape does look a bit funny on him, but it looks better than no cape at all for some reason. I'll probably end up just making a custom cape for him until LEGO decides to produce dark blue capes again. Any tips on materials for capes? Is it similar to the sail material? I'm sure I've read about it somewhere before, but I can't find it at the moment.
  21. It looked very peculiar until I saw the original cover and then it looked truly inspired. I can see exactly where you were going with that. It is very fitting. I should look into more Batman covers. Good luck in the contest!
  22. Very well done. Even holding the head works out well in that angle to just look like a mask. Brilliant effect for a simple cover. Good luck!
  23. I think they just reuse the torsos/heads as much as they can because fans don't care about minifigures (sarcasm). Obviously they aren't going to give tons of unique figures each set, but I'd think they'd add some more variety to the winter village/modular line. I guess they just want to use up some old stock maybe??
  24. I can't wait to see the exclusive figure. I think the book will be interesting to look at, but out of the figures I don't have I don't have them for a reason. I'm not sure how much I'll want to look at them in picture form, but I will end up getting the book anyway. And that Yoda Chronicles book looks neat (with another exclusive figure).
  25. Thanks for the higher res pictures. I'm really pumped for this little set. It looks like a fun build and will fit right in with the other Winter Village sets. The torsos are neat and I'm actually more excited for another suit torso. And maybe the little girl just developed early, that happens all the time.
