  1. I feel like something that tends to be forgotten when discussing sets is that there is a long shelf life for many products. Longer than action figures (which seem to be "if you don't get it when the store restocks during the one wave that figure is available, you're never going to get it at retail"), for sure. So when you look at the January 2022 wave and say "There's nothing that appeals to kids, what are they doing!", that may be true for that wave specifically, but from there are at least a dozen system scale sets that are also still on shelves and have a very good mix of characters, from basic OT Luke and Leia to Bo-Katan and Ahsoka to the Bad Batch. Anecdotally, it seems like a LOT of sets from the past year have been selling really well. The X-Wing and TIE Fighter are still not always on shelves near me (especially since Target and Walmart seem to have these permanently marked down to $40 and $32, respectively), and the summer wave is still iffy if I can even find those sets, despite it being two full months since release. I'm pretty sure I've never seen the Arquitens in stores, and I've only seen the Bad Batch Shuttle once, I think. Point being, those sets will still be around when this January wave hits. Therefore, there's still system scale playsets on shelves that have more appeal than dioramas or helmets or sets without minifigures. I would bet MOST kids definitely have not acquired the full summer wave, considering how expensive that is and how much this stuff has been selling. It's not like they're just abandoning their core consumers. It's also easy to point to "This set is selling well, so LEGO is dumb for not making more sets from [insert movie/show here]" but there's some confirmation bias in that. A lot of people reported the summer wave sets selling out, but a lot of people also reported the X-Wing or the most recent helmets selling out. It's impossible for us to know what the demand truly is, and I would really argue with the idea that LEGO's idea of what sells well is flat out wrong. Of course, companies make mistakes, but there's a difference between a new theme not selling well (when they're relying mostly on speculation) and them looking at actual, concrete data of "This is how well this set sold, compared to this set" within the SW line. It seems fair to assume that they did a big summer wave full of stuff that had been requested for some time, and are now going with a wave that seems targeted mostly towards adult collectors, then will probably do another large summer wave that's system-heavy. Finally, not every wave is going to please every person. The summer wave had some nice builds, but a lot of that stuff wasn't really for me. I enjoy The Mandalorian and TCW/BB, but only the Mandalorian Fighter set was one that I really feel like "Yes, I'd like to buy that," and even then, I haven't purchased it yet. This upcoming wave, I'm definitely interested in quite a few sets from both the diorama-style and the system-style. I am surprised, however, that this wave doesn't have any prequel-era stuff yet (it wouldn't surprise me if there's a Bad Batch minifigure pack that comes with Omega, or something like that), but the summer one was all prequel era and Mandalorian, which was also a little bit surprising.
  2. I thought of this too, I've seen it one some collectibles, but in this case, it just doesn't make sense. The firefighter torso was extremely common and goes for like 10 cents on Bricklink. The Legoland one is about 50 cents (cheaper than I thought, honestly) and is considerably rarer since I think you had to get that from a park, whereas those forest firefighters were available in every set from that subtheme, some of which were extremely cheap. So the re-selling angle is out, which suggests that maybe someone desperately needed some firefighters, but at that point, why not just take the entire figure and swap in generic ones? It's also way too random to be an error or mispackaged thing. The mixture of things here is just too weird, and I assume these figure packs might be assembled by hand? I mean, I can't see a machine being able to align the accessories and stuff in such a way that fits in the package, but I don't know. It's just super bizzare.
  3. I'm definitely very curious as well, since there's at least a couple of things both could be. The Yoda set, to me, could be either a remake of the 2003 Yoda's Hut + X-Wing (which I think makes sense as a set, but not right now, we just got Yoda's Hut like 3 years ago and there's a Red Five X-Wing on shelves right now. They've doubled up X-Wings before, but only when it was sequel and OT, not two versions of the exact same ship), the Force cave thing (maybe attached to Yoda's Hut?), or something from the Jedi Temple (Though I'm not as sure how playable this is, I definitely think a Jedi Temple set would be popular). Assuming the Death Star set is minifigure scale, the Detention Block/Garbage Masher makes sense, because we've gotten all of the other major scenes from the DS as sets within the last couple of years, but it could also be the Rey/Kylo duel from TRoS. It could also be ship-based, maybe an A-Wing + TIE variation + some external structure of the DS. I'm excited to see what these are.
  4. Does anyone know the price that these figures sold for? I have no interest in buying them, I'm more just curious. Presumably, the seller knew what they had here, but I have no clue what something like this would cost.
  5. If it's anything like previous set bundles, they won't be very common anyway. At least here in the US, I think I've maybe seen those like three times at most. I think Costco/Sam's Club occasionally will get them in the winter time around the holidays, I think Toys R Us used to stock some of them, and then infrequently they'll be at smaller toy stores, but that's really it.
  6. Well, I struck out three times on the Tumbler today. I hit my local Lego store this afternoon, thinking it was probably 50/50 if they'd have it or not. Probably should've called first, but I figured I'd go anyway, and sure enough, they were out of it. No problem then, I pulled up Target.com on my phone and found two stores that were on my way home, one listed as having one in stock, the other apparently having three. Neither of them had it, which was rather frustrating, since it'll probably be another week or two before any of these places re-stock. At this point, I wonder if I'd be better off ordering online.
  7. Is it possible that 75325 is another statue? Those seem to hover around that $60-80 price point and we've had them for two years in a row now with D-0 and the Probe Droid, so I feel like there's a nonzero chance that's what that set is, especially considering the helmet info has also leaked. The numbers seem weird since it'd be right in between a bunch of system scale stuff, but the helmets are also before a couple of sets that we're assuming are probably system scale.
  8. If I'm interpreting the info correctly, I don't think these two are January wave sets. The Landspeeder is supposedly the May UCS (which fits the pattern, those tend to be the oversized vehicles, and also it would be way too soon to put out a UCS in January, since the A-Wing, Cantina, R2-D2, Gunship, Falcon, Star Destroyer, and AT-AT would all be on shelves at once. That's 7 UCS/D2C items on shelves at once. I'd imagine the A-Wing will retire soon-ish and the Landspeeder will fill that price point. The Lightsaber is unclear, but given that we have pictures of it, it would make the most sense for that to be a GWP for the AT-AT.
  9. I'm not disagreeing with the breakdown of sets at all, nor with the fact that at least two of those three should probably count towards OT (RO for sure, Rebels with a lot of stuff, Solo I'd say is a bit more debatable, but if I'm counting CW towards prequels, then I'd say it's fair to count Solo towards OT ), but in fairness, the reason that we were getting those sets was because they were topical at the time, and none of those properties have gotten really any attention at all other than their initial waves. I believe RO got a couple of sets released after the film wave, and then Rebels had a handful but nothing since, like, 2017. So, believe me, I see where you're coming from, because I am a huge RO fan and absolutely want more sets from that movie, and same deal with Rebels.
  10. I'm just curious, what are you classifying as PT sets? Of strictly prequel stuff, I would assume you mean Duel on Mustafar, Grievous' Fighter, Anakin's Fighter, and the Gunship, but I think the 501st set, AAT, Duel on Mandalore, Bad Batch Shuttle, and Mandalorian Fighters could also count. They're prequel era and the shows tie in with the movies pretty closely. Also, I would probably count Yoda's Lightsaber as a prequel GWP, since he doesn't use it in the OT. Now, that doesn't the numbers even, I know, but there is a bit more stuff that I would classify as "prequel era."
  11. Minifigure pack ideas. I'm assuming no new molds, but there would be some new prints required in here. Spoiler tagging just to save space, no spoilers or anything inside.
  12. I'd guess you're correct in that this winter set isn't an MBS set, there's no precedent for that at all, and that would be way too soon of a D2C release (assuming this AT-AT is indeed coming?), since it'd be squeezed in between the AT-AT and the Landspeeder, and we still have the Gunship, Cantina, and Falcon on shelves (and the A-Wing too?). If the pattern holds, we're supposed to get an MBS next fall (since we had Attack on Hoth, then the Tantive, then Cloud City, then the Star Destroyer, then the Cantina, and now the AT-AT, if my memory serves me correctly), which could certainly be Jabba's Palace or Sail Barge (if they go the OT route, which seems most likely, my money is on one of those two or an Endor Bunker set), but there is almost no chance we'd have that info already. For whatever reason, the MBS stuff seems to take forever to leak - Cloud City wasn't confirmed until late summer of 2018, and the Cantina was supposedly an Imperial Shuttle until about August, so I would highly, highly doubt any leaks coming out are for MBS style since that would be a massive departure from the precedent we've had for a couple of years now.
  13. Depends on the store. Basically, sellers can set up an automatic shipping system where it will calculate the shipping method based on the given size and weight of the set (listed in the database) and charge you based on how much a seller charges for that method. So, for example, if a given set could fit in both a USPS Flat Rate Small Box (which I think is like $7-8?) or USPS Priority Mail, it will automatically give you the cheaper option, depending on the weight of the item. This is all assuming that the seller has accurately put in different weights and priced accordingly. Some stores will send a manual quote for every order, if they don't have it set up.
  14. 2022 lineup idea (some of these might be unpopular) Single cars: 1951 Hudson Hornet (Vintage stock car graphics) Enzo Ferrari Jeep CJ-7 1971 Ford Falcon XB 1963 VW Bus Two packs: Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Cybertruck, accessory is a Tesla Supercharger station ($49.99) 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona and 1970 Plymouth Superbird, one is done in a stock-car style, the other is plain. The accessory is a pit crew wall and some tools. ($49.99) 1970 Chevy El Camino SS with trailer, and 1955 Chevy Bel-Air, unrestored version with rust, broken windows, and mis-matched wheels. Also including extra parts to "restore" it. ($49.99)
  15. I think when it comes to Disney Parks stuff, at a minifigure scale there's only so much that's doable beyond the Castles and transportation. A monorail seems like a no-brainer at some point, their design is super iconic and there's a lot of merchandise of the monorails at the parks already. Haunted Mansion would be awesome and I think is doable, maybe similar to the Monster Fighters Haunted House in an opening dollhouse style. You could have the stretching room, ballroom, attic, and a couple of the other main rooms. The tough part might be including the "ride" function, though the fact that the ride cars in the real version aren't traditional roller coaster cars might make that easier, since they wouldn't need to have a complicated train track system running through the model. I would also say Tower of Terror, but their most recent Fairground set is basically the non-Disney version of that (also Tower of Terror got rebranded at Disneyland, not sure about it at Disney World). Space Mountain has a pretty iconic shape, too, though admittedly I've never been on the ride so I don't know if it would have as much on the inside as, say, Haunted Mansion. The idea of Main Street USA would also be a pretty neat set and would pair well with the castle set.
  16. I'd also imagine UCS stuff is harder to shuffle around, perhaps. It seems like they can rush sets into production (the Razor Crest, for example, apparently wasn't entirely planned, and that set was revealed in February of 2020 and wasn't released until September of 2020, meaning that it still took likely a year to push that out, since Mandalorian premiered in September of 2019). Or, another example, that fan vote poll was in January of 2020, if I remember correctly, and the set wasn't released for another 15 months or so. I'd guess it's easier if they want to include a small, inexpensive set at the last minute, but something big like a UCS set is probably a lot more set in stone just because of the time it takes to design and produce it. In regards to the AT-ST, it'd be cool if the Chewbacca were a snowy variant.
  17. It’s also worth noting that this set has probably been in the works for quite a bit of time. At least from what I understand, it seems as though their set lineup is decided a year in advance, or maybe even more. So, if that’s the case, this was probably planned before they had any idea on the sales data for the Gunship.
  18. I'd love to see more, I think the issue is that there's not a ton of feasible sets. We could definitely get a remade version of The Bat, which would be a good opportunity to get Blake and Bane. The Bat Pod would also be a great set (I think it'd be awesome to get it based off of the scene from TDK where they capture Joker the first time, maybe include the police van or the semi truck, and then also include Joker, Gordon, and Harvey Dent). Beyond that, the only other real vehicles that have prominent screen time are the camo Tumblers from TDKR and some random cop cars and stuff. There's also not a ton of opportunity for any real location-based stuff. You've also got the problem that most of the first film revolves around the drug trade/the mafia, the second film revolves a lot around organized crime and terrorism, and the third film relies a lot on terrorism and a bomb. While stuff with vehicles is easy to do because it's easier to not tie it to a specific scene, but when you make a location based set, it tends to be tied in a lot more to a specific scene. There's definitely some fight scenes that would work okay as sets (maybe Batman vs. Joker at the end of TDK), but there's also scenes that might be tougher because they deal with subjects that Lego definitely doesn't want to deal with, even if it's just a movie and clearly not condoning them.
  19. I really like the ? Block set, but I've never really been big on stuff that's not minifigure scale, with the exception of some vehicles. I think the little dioramas are awesome, and Mario 64 is one of my favorite video games ever, so I'm tempted in that regard, but the block doesn't really appeal to me as much. The design and folding mechanism look awesome, but I only really want the level/castle dioramas.
  20. My working theory is this: Rebels sets notoriously flopped, probably because the show didn't pick up in popularity until like S2 (I still love S1 and 2 of that show but that's another story). Lego kind of went all in with those sets and it failed, partially due to a weird release schedule (they were released way before the show aired, if I remember right, meaning that people were probably less likely to purchase stuff from a show they haven't even watched yet) and partially due to a weird selection of sets (which probably isn't the fault of Lego, it's probably more a cause of what info they were given by the production team). Ever since, they seemed to stray away from TV show stuff. We still got a couple of TCW sets here and there (Grievous' Speeder, Yoda's Starfighter), but they were all fairly "safe" sets in that the minifigures were of fairly universally liked characters and they were at low price points. Then, Mandalorian came out. Rather than go all in with one wave based on a TV show, they went with one set that was an extremely "safe" release, an AT-ST. It had a fairly low price point ($50 in the US that was discounted to $40 very quickly at most retailers), contained a good number of figures, including the main character, and was of a vehicle that was already recognizable, meaning that people may have been willing to buy it anyway just because they wanted an AT-ST. The show was a smash hit, and then we got more sets. When TCW S7 came around, we got 3 sets, but all were relatively "safe" again. Anakin's fighter was in need of a re-release anyway, the 501st set was highly demanded, and the AAT was a vehicle that hadn't been remade in a while, plus two desirable minifigures. There was clearly a demand for those sets, because now we're getting more TCW stuff including figures like Gar Saxon, as you said. The next new show that released was Bad Batch, and once again we got a fairly "safe" set as the only one from the show. While the price point is expensive, the ship had previously been introduced in TCW, and it included all of the Bad Batch minifigures, making it more desirable. Book of Boba Fett is almost the same deal. The first set we're getting is a Slave I and it includes characters that we've already seen and are pretty wanted (at least in the case of repainted Boba). If the show does well, I would bet we're getting more sets for sure. Anyway, this is just my theory, but it seems to be a pattern with new TV shows. I'd imagine if Kenobi or the Cassian shows get any sets, it'll probably be something along the lines of vehicles/locations we're already familiar with (maybe a U-Wing for the Andor show?) so that they can test the waters before releasing a bunch of sets for a show that may or may not be popular.
  21. At the end of the day, none of the press release stuff affects the model at all. I truly do not understand why it's causing this much controversy one way or the other. If you like the set, buy the set. I feel like it's possible that we'll eventually get one, but it seems unlikely to get what would probably be a straight up recolor of the Boba helmet only a year later. Assuming they continue the helmet line, a Snowtrooper would be cool if they could capture the cowl/neck section, though that would be somewhat difficult. Same deal with a Royal Guard, though probably more feasible. If they decide to do open-face helmets, a Rebel pilot helmet is almost a sure thing. I can't really think of anything else from the OT. The only other major Stormtrooper variant is a Sandtrooper, which is the same helmet plus some sand/dirt. Death Star Gunners are too niche for an entire display piece (though I've always loved their helmet design for whatever reason). What other helmeted characters are there? Lando's Palace Guard disguise? Not likely. MAYBE a Tusken Raider or Jawa head? Again, not really a helmet, so I don't really see it. There's definitely some possibilities from the PT and ST, but I'm not sure if the demand is as high for display pieces from those eras over minifigure scale stuff. Something like Rex or Jango Fett would do well for sure, though (but with Jango it's the same problem as a Mando helmet, it's basically just a recolor of Boba with maybe some updated techniques).
  22. Man, I watched Batman Begins last night for the first time in a while and I'm super excited for the smaller Tumbler now. I might even pre-order it! I think the only thing I would change is including Rachel as a figure. Since it's based on Batman Begins, she's pretty much the only character that would fit with both Batman and Scarecrow besides Gordon (Fox would be cool but wasn't in any scenes with the black Tumbler). While Ra's Al Ghul would be a nice figure, he's probably a bit less exciting since he's just a guy in a suit. Rachel, however, would be perfect, since the set actually fits two figures and Rachel was in multiple scenes with both Batman and Scarecrow. However, that's really my only complaint, everything else about the set looks great.
  23. But again...there's a way to army build clones on store shelves right now. To hardcore fans or collectors, yes, there is a big difference between a 501st Clone and a 212th Clone or whatever, but if they put a $15-20 clone BP on shelves, a lot of kids or parents would see zero incentive to buy the 501st set. They're both clone troopers, so who cares? (that's rhetorical, before somebody jumps on me for saying that). And at some point, having more than one clone legion on shelves at times in army-building type sets just would get redundant.
  24. Well, I'm certainly not saying anything that hasn't already been said, but the $40 Tumbler is everything I was hoping for and more. To be honest, I just wanted something larger than the 2012 version. I never bought the 2008 version and secondary market prices are bananas for that thing, and the 2012 set never really appealed to me. This set is pretty much perfect. Minifigures are even better than I thought (to be honest, I thought there was no way they included anyone other than Joker or maybe Bane, since people tend to pretty much only remember those two as villains from the trilogy), the scale looks great, and the actual functionality of the model looks amazing too. I'd love a third figure (Ra's Al Ghul or Rachel would've been icing on the cake), but I was expecting two, so this is fine by me. While those figures would've been nice, there isn't really anyone that would've given the set a ton more playability, and frankly those figures aren't super exciting, especially for kids. I was never planning on getting the D2C one, and I don't own any vehicles at that scale, so my perception of what's good and bad with the giant stuff isn't great, but the set looks good overall. Definitely nice for those that missed the original one.
  25. I would say it depends on how much interior it has. If it's mostly just a skeleton inside, the exterior of the main body will probably be pretty boring. I assume the "head" will open up for sure and probably fit at least 2, maybe 3-4 figures. I could see the body panels flipping open on the side to store a speeder or have a winch, but if the interior needs to mostly be a Technic skeleton in order to actually support the thing, it probably will just be panels without much.
