  1. That's my worry with the gunship. I think a lot of people, specifically those commenting on the Ideas post, are expecting a minifigure scale (which it could be, but it also might not be) model with a wishlist of every single clone commander from The Clone Wars, plus Ahsoka. Realistically, I highly doubt that they would even give us any Clone Wars characters at all with it, because there's probably no chance they'd base a UCS set off of a TV show before doing another prequel set. At best, it would probably be a clone pilot and clone gunner from Ep II, maybe with Anakin, Obi Wan, and Padme if we were lucky. I voted for the Nebulon B and put in the reason that I would rather see a minifig-scaled Gunship (which I think is very possible anyway), that way the Nebulon and Gunship groups both win.
  2. I guess my worry with is was that if the Gunship wins, it would be something more akin to the Y-Wing/X-Wing type of sets that you had mentioned. Around $250-300 and approximately 1.5x minifigure scale. I know that the piece count of those are high, but if they were to do a larger set, around the $300 price point, I feel like they could scale back the number of unnecessary pieces and still hit around 3000 parts, but make it much larger, therefore, non-minifigure scale. However, you do make some good points about it being possible to do a minfigure scale gunship and still have a high piece count that most UCS sets have. I'm hopeful that if it does win, your analysis is correct and we do get a figure scaled UCS Gunship.
  3. Those MOCs you linked are great and look very accurate to the actual source material, however, I just can't see LEGO making a UCS version of a ship that's actually smaller than the system version they released previously. I would say that the UCS ships we've gotten that are minifig compatible are the Slave I and both Falcons. Both are significantly larger than any system scale version of those ships. Now, I know the Gunship is a bit different just because the system-scale versions are relatively accurate, whereas you can't accurately get the size of one of those other ships in minifig scale at a cheap price point, but I just can't see them putting out a set like that noawadays. If it were 10 years ago when there were regularly UCS models under $100, definitely, but I think UCS has taken on the meaning of "Extremely large model over $200." FWIW, I would absolutely love it if they released something like those MOCs you linked and billed it as a UCS set, I just don't see it happening though.
  4. Mando with a certain accessory () would probably make the most sense in a set like that. I can't speak for the individual you're quoting, but I think he's saying that most of the audience of those videos are people who will vote for whatever the video says, but he's not saying people in this specific thread/Eurobricks/everyone are influenced by a youtube campaign. And personally, I think the original poster has a point, given how he managed to get people to (rather annoyingly) spam LEGO's social media pages with "Give us a 501st Battle Pack" for several years now.
  5. I'm torn. On one hand, the only one of these ships that I'd actually consider purchasing would be a Republic Gunship, but on the other hand, I'd rather get a system-sized set, because it's closer to the actual scale of those (in reality, I think all that it would need to be is just a tad wider to be totally in scale), so I might vote for Nebulon B.
  6. Without trying to get too wish list-y, it's been 7 years since our last Attack of the Clone wave (and before that, it was 2002(!) for our last AoTC wave). The reason I bring that up is because that's been our last major assortment of ships/vehicles that are regularly appearing in the Clone Wars. We also got a Venator Class Cruiser back in 2009, and none since. So, are we due for a Republic Cruiser, Gunship, AT-TE, Dropship, etc etc, absolutely, but will we get it? Who knows, and honestly if Ep 9 didn't just come out I'd say it would be a no-brainer, but since I'm sure there will be a second wave of TRoS sets this summer, that could put Clone Wars stuff on the back burner, and by the time the next wave comes out (which would be late 2020/early 2021), TCW may not be as relevant in people's minds anymore, and we could miss out. This is 100% speculation on my part, so who really knows what will happen. I guess once the mystery 4th set of the spring wave is unveiled we might know a bit more of what their plans are.
  7. I think it's a bit different between fantasy themes and licensed stuff though. Yeah, Ninjago has ventured into some pretty unexpected subthemes, but people like the characters and kids aren't going to analyze every nuance of the set or subtheme, they'll just see "Oh, flying pirate ship! Cool!" or whatever. With Star Wars, it's very likely that most people have seen the source material, and if given a choice between, say, an X-Wing or Millenium Falcon and the Mon Calamari Cruiser, chances are that people either don't even know what Home One is (I think it got about 30 seconds of screentime from the exterior), or would rather buy the ship that it iconic. Collectors and adults will buy anything, Lego already knows that, but the casual market and kids would rather get the stuff they know about than a more obscure ship. On the other subject of the Mandalorian AT-ST and battle pack availability, I actually had no trouble at first finding the AT-ST, and even bought it on sale at Target for $40, but since December-ish, haven't seen it at all. Prior to the release of the show it was everywhere, but I think there's quite a few people legitimately spending $50 just for the Mandalorian figure. Most of the stores I've been to have had some of the 2020 sets, but I've only seen the Battle Pack once, at a Kohl's. Even the Duel on Mustafar, Ben's Hut, and Luke's Landspeeder have been hard to find near me (I don't think I've seen the Landspeeder at all, come to think of it).
  8. I love the usage of the bucket handle and hair piece for the Bantha! And the ghosts - incredible!
  9. I also think that there's been issues in other places. Supposedly the attendance figures at Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland CA were significantly lower than forecasted, and from what I've heard, merch sales are down. They also seem to have royally screwed up any chance of a future spin-off/anthology film by releasing Solo while Avengers was still out when SW movies have been put out in the winter the past few years, and right after TLJ created some major animosity among fans. Most people I've talked to have really enjoyed the Mandalorian and I'd say about 80% of the opinions on TRoS were either "I liked it" or "It was a good film considering the other films in the trilogy and what they had to work with" so who really knows if they've "damaged" the brand or not, but I definitely have met more people than not who really didn't really love the sequel trilogy. As far as LEGO goes, I'm hoping that after the summer wave, they're done with sequel trilogy sets for a little while and give us some prequel/OT/CW stuff that we haven't had for a while.
  10. While it may not appeal to you, I know that the Tuning Workshop and the rest of the automotive subtheme was pretty exciting to a number of other builders, myself included. To your second point, call the line what you will, but I think that regardless, Lego's "city-based" theme will be essentially the same as the current groups of sets we've been getting. Heck, if you compare some of the early sets released as "City" from around 2005-2008, they fit in decently well with the World City stuff as it is. As time goes on and the theme evolves, no matter what the name is, the sets start to look different from the City sets we got 3-5 years ago. In all honesty, looking at those sets, the main differences that I can see is that they utilized more baseplates and had more "flagship" buildings (Train station, engine shed, coast guard HQ), rather than a set with multiple smaller buildings.
  11. I'd say it's about the same in the US, probably $15-20. So, yeah, that could be either one battle pack or a couple of Microfighters or something, or 5-6 CMFs, which I honestly think most kids would prefer, since it gives them more characters to play with, and more unique ones at that.
  12. I've thought about this as well, I think a 60/40 mix of obscure figures that we'd probably never get in sets and the rest are well-known characters either in outfits we might not get in sets, or things like concept art figures. For example, people like Chancellor Valorum, Aunt Beru, or even people like Biggs/Fixer/Camie from the deleted scene at Toschi Station, and then variations of characters like Mustafar Padme, an extra-snowy Han/Chewbacca from the scene where they shoot the probe droid on Hoth, Trash Compacter Luke, Lando during the Death Star II run, or even like an Ep I Bib Fortuna. You'd get the casual collectors/kids who only want the main characters and easily appeal to them, the appeal to huge fans to get characters that they'd never otherwise get, and some overlap there with people who are just general SW fans and will buy it regardless.
  13. Yeah, I think that it's possible this fall the UCS release is more of the playset-type (given that Cloud City just retired and they appear to be alternating that every other year for the fall release), and a Jabba's Palace would be such a cool location. Similarly, a UCS Mos Eisley could be cool too, although the issues I could see with that are we only really see four locations (Cantina, the room that C-3PO and R2D2 are hiding in, the place where Ben and Luke sell the speeder, and the docking bay) so I guess they'd have to sort of take creative liberties with a lot of other buildings.
  14. About the movies vs. TV thing, the other advantage of specifically making TCW sets is that you can double-dip with prequel stuff. Things like the Jedi Temple, Coruscant scenes, Republic Cruisers, Republic Gunships, etc. are all prominent in TCW and are featured in the prequels in some capacity as well. While I'm not as well-versed in what we have or haven't had as sets from the sequels, it seems like the prequel era is the most incomplete set-wise (I challenge someone to come up with a major scene/location/vehicle from the OT we haven't gotten in some form as a set besides Yavin, the Lars' homestead, and an Obi Wan/Vader duel, although I do agree that there are some sets that could use a reprise, such as the Battle of Endor and Home One).
  15. I'd imagine there has to be at least one or two. Since I think the trailer has shown , they'd be crazy not to put together at least one set based on that scene considering the minifigures and stuff.
  16. I've thought a lot too about a SW CMF series, I think it's a really good way to give characters that don't have figures but realistically wouldn't fit into any sets. They could even do multiple series to fit as many as possible. One based on the prequels, one based on the OT, one based on the sequel trilogy, and one venturing into anthology films, EU, and Rebels/Clone Wars, possibly breaking the TV shows into their own series in order to not overload things. I had some similar ideas to the post above, so I figured I would share mine as well (only really fleshed out PT and OT at the moment). Prequels:
  17. The Mandalorian Battle Pack might be the most hyped up Star Wars set in a while. I got mine at Kohl's right after Christmas where they still had a handful and were priced normally, but every other retailer I've been to, including a Lego brand store, have been entirely sold out. eBay prices are insane right now, and it seems like people are legitimately shelling out $25-30 for it rather than waiting a month and getting it once they start to inevitably flood the stores. I mean, are people really expecting that they aren't going to be able to find it in stores? Lego's not exactly like action figures or other collectibles where there's more limited distribution...
  18. One thing that also supports it, the newer video games, namely the one with Chase McCain (not sure if there's been any others, to be honest) seem to portray LEGO City as an island as well, though it is considerably bigger than LEGO Island. Perhaps the Infomaniac was able to get a better processor for the city, or he increased the RAM
  19. As far as I know, the only confirmed sets we have that aren't the ones on the shelves currently are D-O, the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett head busts. I've seen one site list the spring wave as a 4-set release, three of which are those sets, plus another set priced at $60, but I'm not sure how reliable the source is. It does seem a bit strange that they wouldn't push out more traditional sets given that Clone Wars S7, Mandalorian, and TROS all have a lot of potential sets and will still be hot properties in the spring (ie: why wait until July/August to release a lot of those sets), so take that with a grain of salt until we get more confirmation/pics.
  20. True, that could actually work quite well. I like the idea of including one pillar in each set. Maybe price them around $30-$40-$60 USD each, that way the entire thing totals the price point of a large set, but it becomes more affordable for kids or non-collectors who are only wanting certain figures or aspects of the set. While I do agree that there are a lot of really cool potential sets from the OT, I feel like Lego's been producing a lot of these lately (and I say this as a big fan of the OT, I would say most of my Star Wars collection are sets based on the OT), while there's been fewer of the major ships or locations from the PT. For example, the Republic Gunship, which plays a major role in Ep II and is in probably 75% of Clone Wars episodes, has had three sets based on it (not counting micro-scale). I don't think that they should necessarily devote an entire wave to exclusively prequel sets, but I would like to see more of these vehicles/locations, produced in conjunction with the cool, sure-fire hits from the OT like a Cantina or Endor Battle Pack.
  21. I'm hoping that we'll finally get some more prequel vehicles and scenes now that there's less obligation to make new sets, especially things from AOTC. I was looking into that the other day, we've only received two major waves of Ep II sets - 2002 and 2013, and on Brickset, there are only nineteen sets tagged with Ep II - each of the other films from the first six movies have over 40 (!) with the exception of V and VI (which have 36 and 37, respectively, which is a surprise to me, though that may not count UCS and thus lower the number). Another AT-TE and Republic Gunship would be fantastic, they could also release these as Clone Wars sets, given that we're probably going to get more sets from the upcoming season of the show. I'd love a $120 Gunship with 9 figures (Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan, 2x Clone pilot, Clone gunner, Clone Commander, 2x Battle Droid). Since the new "duel" playsets seem to be a hit, a reprise of Dooku vs. Yoda/Anakin/Obi-Wan would also be a popular set I bet - lots of desirable figures. An updated version of the Zam Wessell speeder chase is long overdue. The chase scene lasts a good fifteen minutes, the speeders are unique colors, and it would be probably a relatively inexpensive set, $30-$40. Two speeders, maybe the assassin probe, and Obi-Wan, Anakin, Zam, and possibly Padme or Jango Fett if they're being generous. Jango's Slave I could also be an easy sell just because people like Jango Fett and like the ship. Similar to how Boba's Slave I has gotten several releases with characters not entirely related to the ship, it would also be a very easy way to give us a Taun We/Lama Su figure, in addition to young Boba, Jango, and Anakin. I would be a lot of people would justify the $120 price point just for Kaminoians. Finally, a Geonosis arena set would be pretty amazing. I get why they haven't done it yet, just because it's not a sure-fire home run due to the mediocre popularity of the movie, and it'd be minimum $150 to capture the scene accurately. Similar to some of the set ideas people have come up with, essentially a half circle of walls, one of which is the gate to enter, some seating space at the top of the walls, and a booth for Dooku/Separatists to watch. Three stand-alone pillars, and the Ackley/Reek/Nexu would pretty much be sufficient for the build and provide a lot of playability plus the possibility to expand upon if they time it to release with other Clone Wars era sets. Minifigs: Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme, Count Dooku, Jango Fett, Poggle, 2x Geonosians, 4x Super Battle Droids, Mace Windu, and one more Jedi, maybe a non-Clone Wars Sassee Tin, or really anyone that we haven't gotten for a while.
  22. Hello! Been browsing this board on and off for several years now and just decided to finally join! As you can likely tell from my username, I'm a Star Wars fan, but also enjoy City, Indiana Jones, Western, and a slew of other themes/sets that don't quite fit those themes. Glad to be part of the community and look forward to participating!
