  1. Are we expecting that this is with any $160 purchase, since the castle won't be out until August? I've been wanting to get the DeLorean (not that I can at the moment anyway, due to it being out of stock), so I figured I'd wait and grab it when this promo is happening, assuming it applies.
  2. The 212th battle pack sounds like perfect outrage bait. Either it happens and people who are guessing it will happen now (since I highly doubt any reliable insiders are leaking info this early for 2023, I can't remember any time we've gotten 1HY info sooner than, like, September) can use this as "credibility" and become leakers or something, or if it doesn't happen, people will use this as a reason to get mad at LEGO for...failing to deliver on something that was never confirmed to begin with? Basically, it reminds me of the whole Cody in the UCS Gunship debacle. For whatever reason, a bunch of Instagram/Youtube people kept putting custom P2 Cody figures in their thumbnails for videos relating to the Gunship, when that was never ever confirmed or even rumored other than just people speculating, and it resulted in that whole uproar, because people kept seeing the clickbait and taking that as news.
  3. It would also just be way, way, way out of character for LEGO. I know people often say that there's no rhyme or reason for what LEGO does and doesn't do, but there's generally fairly consistent in why they choose to make certain sets or not, even if certain decisions like minifigures being included or left out can seem odd to us outside of the company. But, this would be so far out of left field that it just seems so unlikely. It's one thing to make a $150 Justifier, where it's a weird choice but $150 isn't insane. It's another to make the fourth largest SW set ever and go completely off the board with it.
  4. Someone also said a few pages back that Promobricks listed it as a rumor, but that they were more skeptical of it. It just seems like a very odd thing, if true to me. If this is true, it would be the 4th most expensive SW set of all time, behind the second UCS Falcon, the UCS Star Destroyer, and UCS AT-AT, and is $30 more than the original UCS Falcon and the re-released version of the Death Star. I know the Mandalorian is popular, but is a ship that's only been around for two years and got blown up midway through the second season (and appears to have been replaced by the N-1, rather than the show somehow resurrecting it/giving him a new version of the Razor Crest) really on par with the Falcon and Death Star in terms of popularity and actual viability for a set that expensive? Also, that thing would be absolutely massive. Probably the size of the UCS Gunship but with a full interior, I'd imagine? I still think it's going to be another version of the Death Star, this just seems way too out of left field, especially considering how it took them almost a decade to go back to making prequel UCS stuff. I can't see them going from "these are a risk because the older ones didn't sell" to "let's make a $500+ UCS based off of a TV show when we've never done TV-based UCS sets at all!"
  5. I think based on how they've handled TV shows in the past, there's a strong possibility that we get one more set at some point after the show is released. The only reason that might not happen is that the show is only six episodes (TBoBF was seven, but it also tied into the Mandalorian, so the N-1 is sort of a Mando set more than anything), but it'd definitely be nice to get a set with young Owen and Beru. While I like Cad Bane's character, having watched all of the shows, I still think this is puzzling. He's most prominent in TCW, had a couple of appearances in Bad Batch, and that's really it other than expanded universe stuff. It's possible that the ship and/or Cad Bane have a larger role in S2, because I know that's happened before with seemingly perplexing choices of sets/minifigures that turn out to make perfect sense once the show/movie actually comes out.
  6. Oh, yes, I agree then. Unfortunately, I just don't know what else is a viable set. The train and/or time train would be really cool, but I'm not sure if they'd really put them out unless it were one of the diorama/quote sets. Similarly, I've been thinking for a while that a $140-150 Hill Valley town square set would be amazing, with extra pieces to change the diner and clocktower from their different versions in 1955/1985/2015 (unfortunately I think the 1885 versions are too different), but again, I'm not sure if they'd actually do that as a set. I think the dioramas are definitely the most likely scenario for any non-DeLorean BTTF set.
  7. It'll definitely be back in stock, as it just came out in April. If I had to guess, this set will have a shelf life of at least a year and half or two years, because of the popularity of it. There's one more Speed Champions set coming out this summer that doesn't have any info, other than it's (apparently) based on a movie and costs $30. There's the Fast and Furious Dodge Charger and James Bond Aston Martin coming out that will, I think, be $20 each, and then an unknown $30 set that some people have speculated could be the BTTF DeLorean. It seems plausible, just because I don't really know what other iconic movie/TV vehicles it could be, and the $10 price difference from the other two vehicles could be explained by extra parts to swap between movie versions and it probably having two minifigures instead of one. The Ecto-1 is the only other vehicle that would probably be considerably larger and therefore need to be $10 more than the others.
  8. It seems like they aim to have most of the main characters overlapping on shelves, since it's tough to cover all of them in each wave. By my count, this summer will have two versions of Obi-Wan, Vader, and then you've got Mando/Grogu with the starfighter, Luke in the Dark Trooper set, Boba and Fennec in the Palace, the Bad Batch in their shuttle + Cad Bane's ship and then I think you can still find some older sets on shelves, so there you've got Ep 4 Luke + Leia in the X-Wing, Hoth Luke in the microfighter Tauntaun, Ahsoka in the AAT and Mandalore duel, Maul in the Mandalore duel, Han in the Microfighter, and snowy Chewbacca in the AT-ST. As someone that's been collecting for 15+ years, I feel like they're way better about this now than they were back in the day. As a kid, it was pretty much impossible to get an ANH Han, Chewbacca, or Leia figure, since they more or less locked into a $100+ Millenium Falcon, despite those being some of the most iconic characters and appearances from the entire saga.
  9. I think, for SW stuff at least, this seems to be a more recent trend. I know last holiday season, they had the Mandalorian Starfighter for like $50, and then in March they had Boba's Palace for $80 and the Dark Trooper set for like $22 (which is a solid discount, but Target/Walmart will probably drop that to $24 eventually like they do with most $30 sets, so nothing insane). Unfortunately, about a month after I got Boba's Palace for $80, it is apparently now $60 there The tough thing is that it SEEMS like once a set goes out of stock there, that's it. I'd imagine if the AT-TE were to go on sale there, it probably wouldn't last super long.
  10. Yeah, even looking at BL prices for the most desirable minifigures, no one on there is really that expensive other than Garindan. I'm actually a little bit surprised, because when Cloud City was out, I feel like Han, Leia, Boba Fett, Lando, and Luke (who was exclusive at the time) were all consistently like $25-30 US, whereas Garindan is barely even $25 right now, and all of the other exclusive figures are cheaper. I think prices will definitely increase after the set retires, but I don't think that any of the figures have the appeal of the exclusive Bespin variants. Garindan and Ponda Baba maybe will top out around the price of Bespin Leia or lower, but all it takes is a $40-50 Cantina set that includes Ponda Baba for that price to come crashing back down. I honestly think that's likely at some point, just because they made the new mold and he was a character in-demand for quite a while, plus the Cantina can be done with a really cheap set, whereas most of the Cloud City variants are either intentionally a premium version (Boba Fett/dual-molded Han) or only really work in more expensive sets.
  11. I think it's less the figure itself and a combination of two factors. 1) The benefit vs. cost of acquiring the figure with the set versus by itself is generally in your favor if it's a desirable figure or an expensive set, because the figure itself will end up being a large portion of the set's cost. Look at MBS Cloud City, for example. That set was $350. Taking the cheapest BL prices, Lando is now $123, Leia is $52, Han is $62, and Boba Fett is $108. Those alone are $345, effectively the cost of the set, which also included like fifteen other figures, two ships, and the entire build of Cloud City itself. Even before the prices on those blew up over the past year or two, the cost of all of the set's figures put together was still about the same cost of the MSRP of the set itself. The Cantina is a great example of this, as last I checked, the price of all of the figures was close to $200-250, so at that point you may as well just buy the whole thing. If you want the figure(s), it's a pretty safe bet that, at worst, you can probably resell the model itself later and recoup most of the cost, especially if it's a UCS/MBS model. 2) If it's a model I have slight interest in, but the figures are mediocre, I'd be less likely to buy it, whereas the same model with a specific desirable figure means I'd be more likely to buy it. In that way, I'm not just buying it for that figure, but I'm buying a model that includes a figure I really want.
  12. If/when we get P2 Cody, people will still find a way to complain. It'll either be 1) "the set he's in is too expensive!!" 2) "Cody wasn't even in that scene!!" 3) retroactive complaints about how long it took them to make the figure 4) something about the mold or printing being slightly inaccurate (which, in fairness, can be a justified complaint depending on how accurate this is) I feel like EB tends to be fairly level-headed with complaints, but I legitimately don't know what would appease some Instagram/Reddit commenters. They could release a set that costs $20 containing Cody, Rex, Wolffe, and the entire Delta Squad, and people would find an issue with that.
  13. Well, no Blue Milk Luke means that this May 4th became a lot cheaper for me! I'll probably just get the sets I was looking for at Target at some point since they're cheaper there.
  14. What dollar amount is it to get the Blue Milk polybag? $75? I don't know if there's $160 worth of SW stuff that I really need/want at the moment, but I've been eyeing the Mandalorian Fighter, so I could maybe grab that plus the Hoth BP and get the Blue Milk Luke, at least.
  15. I feel like we can't read that much into the exact details of the descriptions. There's been errors or incomplete info on things like minifigures or side builds before. Keep in mind, we also don't know how this info comes. It could be a case where Promobricks' source is someone who just said "Yeah, it's coming with a small droid build...a spider droid or something like that" because realistically, both a crab droid and dwarf spider droid are given close up shots in the movies for a grand total of, like, five seconds. Other than a hardcore fan, people aren't really going to know or care about the difference between the two, so I don't really think it's implausible that this is just a case of them being fed bits of info that aren't entirely complete.
  16. This seems extremely unlikely but there was a guy in the comments of Falconfan's Instagram post about the May 4th promo (not sure if anyone discussed this either, but Falconfan said there might be the AT-ST polybag as the $40 promo, Blue Milk Luke for $70, and an unknown one for $160) claiming that the last promo is a Lars homestead kitchen scene with an "unknown minifigure" which i assume would probably be Beru. Now, I don't really put stock into it because it's some random guy saying it, but I'm very curious what this promo should be. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the past, hasn't it been usually one promo for spending either $75 or $100, and that's it? So I'd assume that the $160 has to be decently large, right?
  17. I know most of the discussion about the March sets has passed, but I picked up Boba Fett's Throne Room at Costco a week or two back and just built it over the weekend (well, 5/6 bags, I still have to finish that last part). I'm really pleased with this set, it looks a lot larger in person. Even seeing it on display at the Lego store, it's quite a bit bigger actually having it in hand (possibly because it was in one of the display cases only visible from the front, not the 360 degree view cases?). The middle section goes back a lot deeper than I was expecting and I like the door section a lot. The figures are fantastic and there's a greater level of detail in the palace than I would've guessed from the box. I also love how most of the figures could interchangeably be used as RoTJ figures. $100 is still a bit much, but getting it at 20% off was pretty much perfect. The box pictures really undersell the actual size of this thing. I didn't own the 2012 version of Jabba's Palace, but I feel like this one just has more going on with it, since you've got three sections and a little bit more detail, since it looks like the main throne section of that set was left fairly empty to be able to fit Jabba.
  18. I assume this is just a licensing thing. Even though DeLorean...kind of(?) isn't a car brand anymore (I think they tried to make cars again a few years ago, no idea what happened with that), I know the brand itself still exists and they sell other stuff. I would assume that Universal owns the trademark for the time machine, though I'm not exactly sure how that works since it's clearly based on a real vehicle. It's a little odd, but I would guess it just boils down to complex licensing issues. Did the Ecto-1 specifically say Cadillac? I don't think that the Ideas version did, but I can't remember for sure.
  19. From my understanding, these were the set numbers that we originally thought were Indiana Jones and being released in the fall, right? So presumably the set numbers exist...just a question of what the heck they are? Though I also agree that it seems really unusual for the supposed release date to be in four days and there's no info. Even when the actual content of a theme is kept under wraps very, very tightly, we would at least get some sort of press release some time in advance. Take Mario for example. That was probably the theme that was most "out of left field" in recent memory. If I remember right we got our first teaser several months before the sets were released, even though there was zero inkling that Leaf was Mario (I think people thought it was Monkie Kid at first).
  20. I sort of took the "exclusive minifigure" thing to mean characters rather than variants of existing figures. The exception here seems to be MBS sets, because they're minifigure-compatible, I guess, but I don't think any UCS sets have had exclusive characters. I have no idea, but that's how I interpreted the comment.
  21. At the same time, though, they've re-released sets in the past, with the Legends line in the early 2000s, and even recently have done some sets that (from my understanding) are pretty close to being exact re-releases in the Taj Mahal and the UCS Death Star (the latter set being slightly different between the original and updated version, but pretty much the same model). I think one trend in LEGO that's been really evident in the past 3-5 years is that a) they are appealing to the "nostalgic adult" market. Even though kids are still by and large the target market for LEGO, there are more and more sets that are clearly targeted more towards teenagers and adults, which wasn't really the case up until 5ish years ago, other than the Star Wars UCS line. b) secondary market prices are off-the-handle crazy. I'm fortunate in that I got into LEGO at a young age and probably still own at least 80% of the sets that I ever bought or acquired (and of the sets I no longer own, probably half were ones that I sold to free up space), so while there are sets from my childhood or before that I'll probably never own due to high resale prices, there are a lot of sets that I do own from this period that I absolutely wouldn't be able to afford if I were just getting into LEGO today. For people who have gotten into LEGO in the past 5ish years, and either are looking to re-purchase sets from their childhood, or are wanting some of the legendary sets from the past that now fetch $$$, it seems like that could be a viable market that LEGO would be willing to tap into in order to both sell a lot and also help out customers by driving down some of the resale prices. Is it wishful thinking on my part? Probably, yes. However, I think there is some plausibility to it.
  22. I have to be honest, I'm not super excited for this wave other than the AT-TE and Obi-Wan's Fighter IF the Kaminoan rumor is true, as I've wanted a Kaminoan ever since I played the video games for the first time as a kid. That's just me personally, though. The display pieces seem like they might be interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll buy any of them. Cad Bane's ship, to me, isn't interesting enough to be the flagship set of this wave. It could be a pretty cool build, but the source material just doesn't interest me a lot, and I'm the type of person to where I pretty much only buy sets if both the build and the source material interest me. The Kenobi sets I'll reserve judgement on until we get them. The N-1 is okay but not my favorite set they've ever done. I might buy the Fighter Tank, as I liked those purple clones, but I'll have to wait and see. I'm mostly excited to see whatever the $530 set is, and the possible Andor set. I can see why a lot of people are interested in this wave, though!
  23. I think I did a bad job of explaining why I was mentioning that sketch model. You're absolutely right that a Yavin set designed today be different from that due to how they've changed their set designs, but I was more just bringing that in to show that you could, in theory, get most of the key parts of Yavin condensed into a set that could be roughly $150-180, and as a result, I don't think you could really scale it up to be over $500. The only reason that I mentioned the sketch model is because it's the only frame of reference we have for a Yavin set, even if it's probably 15 years old at this point. Now, after all of this, I'll probably be entirely wrong and the set ends up being the Yavin base
  24. The reason that I don't think a $500+ set could be Yavin is just due to the size. The sketch model that showed up in the visual dictionary a while back is a set that, even today, could be done for $150-200 max (and $200 would really be pushing it). That model captured most of the essence of the base (hangar, pyramid facade, celebration throne room, briefing room, and control station), as well as a midi-scale X-Wing. Let's say that you scale up the size of the actual build a little bit, make the rooms bigger, more details in the hangar, that sort of thing. The temple is one of those where it really cannot be full-scale (like Cloud City), because that's just too big, so rooms like the hangar and celebration throne room aren't going to be full scale regardless, but an MBS version would definitely be larger than the model that never got released. Then, at most I think we'd get two midi-scale ships, so let's say they maybe add in an additional Y-Wing in a midi-scale. I can't see that being more than $350-400, assuming that the smaller play-scale sketch model would be roughly a $150-180 set. I'd love an MBS Yavin at some point, but I think it's better suited for a $350 set, not a $500 set.
  25. Yeah, I don't buy that. Ever since the Rebels first wave allegedly didn't sell well, I really cannot see them making a full wave of sets at the time of the show's launch. Even with The Book of Boba Fett, which was probably as safe of a bet as you can get for making toys (two main characters that were already really popular, a location that was already popular, and a similar format to the show that was a smash-hit), they only put out the Slave I last summer and then we got two sets right after the show released, one of which is basically set for Mando Season 3 that we would've gotten regardless. If they weren't willing to give us that large of a wave for TBoBF, I don't think we're getting more than one or two sets tops for Kenobi.
