  1. Yelana walked back to her seat. "I wasn't trying to pressure you into anything, Zaria - I was just pointing out how you'd react." "Ah! The hell?! Too strong for breaching charges, not strong enough for a reactor overload. . . Soren, was that drone rigged to explode??" "I figured you'd say that." Yelana followed Zaria into the Business class car. Yelana flipped her rifle over her shoulder, aimed it at the Amourai, then fired. "<Set to stun - Target Locked.>" Replacing her rifle, Yelana turned to the attendant. "Get them to safety, and make sure they don't get trampled!" "No shit. Just get yourself and the passengers out of here - We'll handle this." Yelana put her hand on the attendant's shoulder. "Just pick up that Amourai, get to baggage, and don't worry about it."
  2. Yelana put her head back and sighed deeply. "Shit. Yeah, you did - Sorry. . . You still never said how you got into engineering, what's going on with the reactor, and - until just now - that Blackguard's logo was on the drone." Yelana sat back up. "I've answered everything you've asked - What more do you need to know? Actually, you know what, can we just check engineering again? Now? All of us? We need to make sure the reactor is still online - That'll keep Blackguard from being able to board." Yelana stood up, glanced around the car, and began walking towards the door.
  3. Yelana raised an eyebrow. "No, I haven't, but I could definitely ask you the same question. You apparently found the drone, but you won't say where or how, and you were pretty quick to implicate Blackguard - Without providing any proof, I might add. You don't care if Blackguard gets the cube, and you assume you won't be fighting them - And you were the one who picked the fight with Abam. Covering loose ends? If any of us is ratting on the team, it's you - You've done way more sus shit than either Zaria or I have, and you haven't given me any reasons to trust you." "Like I said, I don't know - I have some guesses, which I shared, but I don't know any more than you do. Or, at least, any more than you say you do."
  4. "Where did you find it? Where's it now? How do you know it's Blackguard's? And just because we now know who was using the drone doesn't mean the situation's any worse than it was - We already suspected the drone and the ship were connected - And put your dammed arms down! You'll draw attention to us - More than there already is." "I don't know - What else exactly have you been doing?" "Unless we intervene, which the attendants will probably ask us to do. And I didn't go to check on the stowaway - I went to see where that drone came from, but nice try." "Oh, relax - I took a bottle opener out of her pack just to prove I could, and I haven't taken anything from you, so don't cast aspersions."
  5. "Presumably not, if we had that gauntlet, but even so, assuming you and Soren are right, you literally just said that we're the only ones on this train capable of stopping a heist - Doesn't that make us targets, then? What do you propose we do if the train's attacked? Not respond? I doubt Varuth would like that. Fight back, blow our cover, and risk losing the intel?" Yelana sighed. "Like it or not, Zaria, we're going to need to understand at least some of what's going on, if we want any chance of making it back to Ebria alive."
  6. "I am being quiet, and I didn't say we should look over them here! We can go to the baggage car, if we need some privacy." Yelana paused for a moment. "I can't scan them - I tried, but they're written in ink that just goes white when it's copied digitally. I need to physically look at them in order to read them." "I'm not, and you've only heard about Blackguard - I have friends who work for them. Their operatives are smarter than to think that would work, and they don't maintain their reputation by being careless and taking unnecessary risks. If Blackguard's trying to board the train, then they're not the ones who took our tickets."
  7. "Okay - See, now, you're just being a dick. The first words out of your mouth when you sat down were 'It's gotten worse' - What's gotten worse? And as for communication, you've been a lot less forthcoming than I have, so cut the attitude and start communicating what's going on." "One, I never said that he was - I said that he could've been hired by someone who is, and two, I'm not taking anything off the table until we understand the situation better." "Don't act like you know me, Soren - And how, exactly, are we getting the intel off this train safely if we don't know any of the variables? Like, you know, whoever's trying to sabotage and board the train - Probably for the cube, or for the intel?"
  8. Yelana sat up. "Yeah - I thought we had that handled. Zaria was tracking the drone and securing the engine room, you were getting intel from the Quarm - What happened?" "The drone looked like it came from the baggage car, so I checked it out. I found an empty crate that it was probably in, so it's been on the train this entire time. . . Which also means Blackguard's been tailing us this entire time, too. And how do you know the drone's Blackguard tech? Anyway, Abam's still unconscious, so I can't rule out his potential involvement in all this - And now that I think of it, he did mention some 'business deal' in Con'stap. . . So, yeah - What were you doing?" "Well, if I had to guess, I'd say Blackguard was hired to retrieve the cube, same as we were - It's the only thing that I know is valuable enough on this train to warrant going to these lengths. They hired Abam to smuggle the drone on board, so that he'd take the fall if anything were discovered prematurely. The drone gets out and sabotages the reactor, slowing the train down enough for Blackguard to board, grab the cube, and get out. What I can't figure out is who hired them. Oc|Tan; maybe, to have a backup in case we fail - Or maybe we're just the distraction. M-Tec; if they want to cover up the project or get out of their deal with Aluriel. Thaumaturgic Society, Magpies - though they usually do their own dirty work, from what I've heard - Hart Logistics, basically anyone with an interest in a powerful new energy source. . . So, basically anyone." Yelana took a breath. "We need to go over those documents - The more we know about the cube, the better our chances are of stopping Blackguard's heist, and maybe even figuring out who hired them. By the way, whoever hired them's not who took our tickets. If they had, why not just use them? And they're smart enough to know that taking them would only be a temporary setback for any other team trying to board the train, so we're looking at two different groups in-play - Three, counting us." 9. Zaria "Karen-ara"! No problem - I just hope that I have not derailed your plans with Yelana's personal side-quest! 😬 As am I, and I agree! 👍
  10. As Yelana exited the baggage car, she noticed Zaria and Soren back in their seats. "Hey - I thought you were securing the. . . " Sitting down opposite her companions, Yelana lowered her voice. "What. 'It's gotten worse'?? Everything was fine, I step away for like ten minutes tops, and 'It's gotten worse'??" Yelana leaned her head back and pressed her fingertips into her forehead. "Uh. . . You think? What was your first clue?" "Blackguard's private security; mercs, bounty hunters - They're the best at what they do. I thought they might be involved. . . Okay, let's start over - What the hell's going on?"
  11. "<Deactivate Cloak Matrix.>" "<CLOAK MATRIX DEACTIVATED.>" Yelana opened the case, removing the Radiation Gauntlet and placing it on her hand. "<Integrate - File under 'Radiation Armour'.>" "<INTEGRATING. . . >" Black lines wound themselves around the gauntlet from Yelana's arm, as red metal and silver circuitry spread across her suit. Small plates of black armour shifted around in a dizzying cascade, before her suit returned to normal. "<Activate Radiation Armour.>" The red lines on Yelana's armour glowed brightly for a moment, then subsided. Yelana smirked. "<RADIATION ARMOUR ACTIVE.>" Yelana closed the briefcase almost entirely, leaving it unlocked and the lid slightly ajar. Glancing down at the damaged lock, then up at Abam, Yelana picked up the case and carefully slid it onto a shelf behind Abam. Before replacing the backpack into the cargo bin, Yelana retrieved the bottle of white out, ensured that the lid was secure, then placed it into a pocket on the side of her belt. Tucking the pens into another pocket, Yelana stood back up and turned to Abam. "You should've made a deal." Yelana opened the baggage car's door and stepped into the Economy car, closing and locking the door as she did. OoC:
  12. OoC: Yelana turned back and walked directly into the baggage car, closing and locking the door once inside. Setting the briefcase onto the floor, she turned to look at Abam. "<He's still out, right?>" "<SCANNING. . . >" Wasting no time, Yelana pulled the pens out of her pocket, activated her cloak, and began trying to pick the lock on the briefcase.
  13. Yelana holds the briefcase a bit tighter in her hand and takes a step back towards her seat. "<Scan the car again - Did I wake him?>" "<SCANNING. . . >"
  14. Yelana picks up the briefcase from behind the door, and walks casually into the Economy car, leaving the baggage car's door unlocked. "<Engage Cloak Matrix.>" "<CLOAK MATRIX ENGAGED.>" In a single smooth movement, Yelana slips the Dwarf's briefcase out from between the seats, feeling for the scratches that Zaria left on the lock as she does, and then slides the case from the baggage car into its place. Standing back up, Yelana deactivates her cloak and scans the car for any indications that she has been noticed.
  15. Yelana switched the lights back on and returned to the briefcase, picking it up and checking again to make sure that it was locked. "Probably with the Quarm, then. . . " Placing the briefcase onto the floor against the wall, Yelana opened the door and looked out into the Economy car. "<Full sensor sweep - And focus on that Dwarf.>" "<SCANNING. . . >"
  16. "<Deactivate Cloak Matrix.>" "CLOAK MATRIX DEACTIVATED.>" Yelana tucks the pens into a pocket on her belt, then returns the backpack to the cargo bin. As she starts back towards the now-locked briefcase, Yelana remembers what she had seen of the documents regarding the cube. Flipping the lights off, she looks around the car. "<Using the train as a baseline, identify and locate any anomalous sources of light or sound.>" "<SCANNING. . . >"
  17. "Hmmm. . . " Yelana crosses the car and grabs the backpack that she had put onto the storage bin. Bringing it back over to the briefcase, she reaches into the pack and retrieves the pens. "<Scan the case - What's the locking mechanism like? Can I secure it?>" "<ANALYSING. . . >"
  18. "An abacus? Really? Who the hell still uses those?? And white out??" Yelana takes the supplies out of the case and slides them into the clothing-filled backpack that she had rifled through earlier. Closing the backpack, she tosses it into the storage bin on the opposite side of the car. Returning towards the front of the car, Yelana grabs the beverage cooler and places it gently into the briefcase. Closing the case, she checks the locks to ensure that they are completely secure.
  19. "Alright!" Yelana dropped to one knee and opened the briefcase, searching its contents for anything useful or valuable.
  20. Yelana sighed again, more deeply this time, then flipped her rifle over her shoulder and aimed it at Abam. "Well, that's your loss, I suppose. <Set to stun - Target Locked.>" Yelana fired, then replaced her rifle on her back. After checking to ensure that Abam was unconscious, Yelana searched through the luggage for any bags with roughly the same weight and size as the gauntlet that she saw in the Dwarf's briefcase, as well as for any other briefcases indiscernibly different from the Dwarf's.
  21. "Interesting. . . See, I thought one side could sort of. . . drag the other along - One head in control, and the other just along for the ride." OoC: OoC:
