  1. "Basically. We'd exchanged names, that sort of thing, but we weren't really chatting. And I didn't run in to help them - I was just trying to figure out what the hells was going and to calm shit down!"
  2. "Yeah. I mean, our seats were together, but we're not travelling together."
  3. "Well, I was just trying to get people out of the dining car - This guy started shooting in engineering, and the whole situation erupted. I jumped in to try to deescalate shit, but I ended up getting caught in a firefight."
  4. "Oh, no, not in Con'stap - I mean the train, the famous Boreal Express. Suffice it to say it does not deserve the praise it gets!" "There were three of them, one was wearing the Blackguard Security logo, and they were taking something out of the reactor - That cube, it looked like." Yelana turns to Soren. "Uh, is there something between you two? And I think I saw you chatting in the dining car, too. . . "
  5. Yelana crossed her arms. "Yelana Fennix; Vacation - Not that it's been much of one. Between doing the staff's jobs for them since getting on-board, ordering tea like, two, three, times, and still not getting it. . . oh, and the explosion, of course, it's been pretty shitty. One out of five, would not recommend; would give zero if possible. Anything else, officer?"
  6. In that case, I completely misread the interaction! I thought that Soren realised that his lie was too flimsy to maintain against Yelana's questioning, so he just told her what had happened. After that, I was writing Yelana as reacting to his admission (not as insulting him). 😬
  7. Yelana looks at Zaria and the Space Police sergeant, somewhat confused. "Where's my tea?" Yelana flicks her eyes over to Soren for a moment, then looks back at the sergeant. "Yes, we are." "Well, I haven't checked, but I certainly hope it is." Yelana walks into the middle of the room, in order to give Myron room to search the reactor. OoC:
  8. "I do - All the pieces are here; you just need to put them together. But I guess that takes someone with more insight than you've got. . . clearly." "Pierce was cute and charming, and the only reason they tried to kill us was because you picked a fight with them - All so you could hand the cube over to your BFF Kish! You are in, literally, the worst position to judge me right now, Soren." As Yelana hears the Space Police board the train, she takes a chopstick out of her hair and begins twirling it between her fingers. "You know. . . Your little plan sounds a whole lot like extortion, if you're thinking from a legal standpoint - You steal M-Tec's property, then sell it back to them?" Yelana quickly slips the chopstick back into her hair, then crosses her arms and legs. "Tell you what. . . How about I play along with you in front of the SP - I'm the only one who knows about the buIIshit you tried to pull, after all. I won't get you arrested, but it'll cost you." Multiple pairs of footsteps grow audible from behind the blast-damaged car door. Yelana smirks. "So, do we have a deal, Soren?" OoC:
  9. "Really? Then what's in it?" Yelana gestured around the room, pointing out the pools of blood and Soren's injuries. "And yet. . . " "You don't know me, Soren, so stop acting like you do. And you want to talk about idealism? Ideals are nothing without the pragmatism to actually see them realised. Sometimes, that means making concessions, crossing lines you feel uncomfortable crossing, because the Arm's a messy place. The key is knowing what you can compromise on, and what you can't. You aren't in any position to judge me, Soren. None."
  10. "I overheard your conversation - some of it, anyway - so I heard when he told you his plans for the cube. And I'm not making snap assumptions - How familiar even are you with M-Tec's business practices? Not to mention that there is something alive inside that cube! I don't care how 'altruistic' you are; using a living creature as a power source is just godsdamn wrong."
  11. OoC: "Wow. . . You are absolutely deluded. You know he would've just taken the cube and not paid you shit, right? And he said he wanted to give people free energy, but since when has M-Tec ever done something like that? How would he keep his job, if he's off handing out the company's profits? He's not an idealist, Soren - He's a businessman. He knows what to say to get what he wants; that's all. He was playing you, and you fell for it."
  12. "So, how much did Kish offer you, anyway? And. . . I'll let you in on a little secret of my own: I always knew you were lying about Blackguard coming back. Always, because I lied about that being a possibility. They're tenacious, sure, but down an agent they'd be unlikely to try us again - I just said that so I could make sure someone was watching the cube in case the engineers woke up and tried to take it. Saying it that way sounds a little paranoid, so brought up Blackguard."
  13. "So your injuries were self-inflicted?! That explains why you have a cut on your head when the only Blackguard agent to have a bladed weapon is dead! I knew you were lying!"
  14. "Huh? I didn't use my cloak just now - Your vision must be blurring from the blood you've lost. And I get that this is some ego thing, which is why you keep dancing around it, but you were out when we got in here - I don't know for how long, but you were. You must've blacked-out and lost time. Anything could've happened from then until you woke up." "Ah; I don't think he'd introduced himself when I left the car." Yelana took a breath. "Soren, you've been jumpy and looking over your shoulder since the Hall, you're trigger-happy and pick fights for absolutely no godsdamn reason, and you act like you don't give a shit about anything when you clearly do - You're hiding something, which makes it difficult for me to trust you. That's why I don't keep you in the loop - Zaria's myopic, but she's honest and principled. That's why I trust her over you. We don't always agree, but I at least know her stance on shit. I can't get a read on you; you're shady and shifty, and because of that, I don't feel comfortable sharing secrets with you. You'd probably just sell us out." "You. What. Are you shitting me right now?! So you did sell us the hells out, didn't you! Is that why your story about the 'attack' isn't adding up?! You staged the whole thing?! Or maybe your 'friend' Kish decided to take matters into his own. . . tentacles? What really happened, Soren?? And 'one damn good thing'?! Helping a megacorp use a living creature as a power source is the best thing you've done in your life?! You're pathetic, Soren - I don't know whether to feel pissed off or sorry for you; I really don't!" OoC:
  15. Yelana tapped a finger against her lips. "Right, right, but then so why were you so surprised when you discovered the cube'd been taken? You should've known right away. Right?" "I'd try to explain it, but with that blood dripping down the side of your face, I'm not sure you'd understand it. And who the hells is 'Kish'?" OoC Continuity Note:
  16. "No, I'm not. I have friends who are, and if you want to get technical, they're us, in a tangential sort of need-to-know way. And that's irrelevant as to who I can judge, or rather, state verifiable facts about. And you didn't answer my question." "Alright, I'll humour you: If you were conscious the entire time - from the attack to Zaria and me finding you bleeding out - and you know I had my cloaking generator active, why didn't you say or do anything when I took the cube? Because according to your reasoning, I took the cube, so why didn't you try to stop me while I was taking it? Unless. . . You were unconscious when Zaria and I walked in and saw you, and whoever attacked you was the one who took the cube. You just didn't realise you'd blacked out. You suffered some serious head trauma, Soren; blackouts and hallucinations aren't just possible, they're likely."
  17. Yelana leaned back against the reactor, diagonally across from Soren, and crossed her arms. "So, what's your opinion of the Space Police? I just can't believe someone who's been around for so long can be so naive. . . " Yelana shook her head disappointedly. "What makes you think I even have it? Kinda feels like you're projecting your excuses onto me, TBH."
  18. Yelana shouted after Zaria, as she left the car. "So you'll work with slavers? And enablers? People who don't give a shit about anyone not lining their wallets? I thought you had some integrity, Khopesh, but once again, you can't see anything that's not right in front of you!"
  19. Yelana looked casually around the car. "<Find me something to block the cube's rad signature.>" "<SCANNING. . . >" OoC:
