Technic General Discussion
StudWorks replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I too want TLG to continue to be profitable as well, but the monstrous $2 billion the group focuses on making in profit each year has had a toll on actual set quality and pricing. While most LEGO consumers aren't interested in MOCs, I disagree about your statement that hardcore Technic fans don't like MOCs anymore. While Speed Champions car MOCs are all the rage on Rebrickable (because they're cheaper), Technic MOCs like alt-builds (like the F1 LM McLaren P1 alt) and Lox Lego's 1:8 scale car MOCs are still hot on the site. -
Technic General Discussion
StudWorks replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I one million percent agree. The biggest plus is that if LEGO consolidates its Technic cars to a theme like Racers, they wouldn't have to rely on using such minimal system brick usage (which has caused many inaccuracies in Technic cars). But it's very unlikely LEGO would actually do this, insert obligatory fan rants about cutthroat-capitalist LEGO. -
Problem with Game Boy lenticular screen?
StudWorks replied to StudWorks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'll send some sort of compliant to customer service anyways. -
Does anybody else have this issue where the "Nintendo" lenticular screen, when centered, clones itself to the top? I couldn't find people online who have the same issue, so is this something I should contact customer service about? Also, is the "SOUND" print misaligned on your Game Boy too? Unlike the lenticular screen, I know the majority of people who purchased this set have this issue with the print so I'm fine with it.

This is INCREDIBLE! The accuracy to real car is absolutely spot-on, easily one of the best Technic MOCs I've seen in a while and I'm excited for more from you to come. While you do have instructions available on boosty, I'd highly recommend also posting them to Rebrickable as they have a huge user base and I know for sure it'll be a hit on there.

Buick Riviera 1972 Boattail

Awesome! Would be so cool if you made this into Richard Hammond's "Lochdown" car. -
42212 Ferrari FXX K
StudWorks replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Surprisingly good-looking and accurate! Though shame the doors don't open. Also should have been an FXX K Evo with the extra aero. -
42213 Ford Bronco SUV
StudWorks replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Am I the only one who finds this set ugly and looking nothing like the real Bronco? Should have been orange too, red just isn't working for me. -
The GT3 RS in BLO would be sick! (As someone whose favorite car color is Signal Yellow)

I'm back with another Speed Champions MOC of one of (Jeremy Clarkson voice) my favorite cars... in the world: the FD-generation Mazda RX-7 with legendary RE-Amemiya bodykit! Instructions are available for purchase on my Rebrickable page. This MOC faithfully captures the elegance of the FD3S RX-7 with the aggressive racing-inspired bodykit by Japanese tuning company RE-Amemiya, made popular from JGTC/Super GT racing and the Initial D series, where Keisuke Takahashi added the bodykit to his FD following the forming of Project D. While it's the same color, this MOC wasn't based directly off Keisuke's car, since this FD wears the "REsuperG" variation of the bodykit which had some differences, mainly fender-mounted mirrors. Being said, I definitely plan on building a Keisuke-spec FD (plus a pre-Project D FD MOC) in the future. Stickers are made by Brickstickershop.com, and 3D-printed rims were made by Brickthebrick.com. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Same thing for me, dude. Had to contact customer service for another red 7L hose for the SF-24.

Rage incoming . . . Tried to get the halo curved perfectly for the SF-24 set (to fit that clip right in the middle without it angling left or right) and THIS happened. New 7L hard hose piece coming from Denmark, but seriously LEGO, Cada does a molded halo piece for their F1 sets, and you give us one made of a piece that's crap. This piece should have been made of soft rubber and not hard plastic that could be warped.

Pretty sure, since every polybag is based on a full-size Speed Champions car it's basically a guarantee we'll be getting a Ferrari 499P set.

My LEGO Speed Champions NA Mazda Miata MOC on steroids! Instructions are available for purchase on my Rebrickable page. A vision of how I plan on someday modifying my actual Miata, the Mikado Miata, named after my still-not-conceived Eurobeat-influenced rock band (need to learn music and how to sing/play my synthesizer, ), comes with these modifications! Rocket Bunny widebody kit with extra aero (front splitter, RE-Amemiya-style rear diffuser, and giant BattleAero chassis-mounted wing). "Jet stream" headlights and custom taillights with black housings. RE-Amemiya-style carbon hood with 280HP turbocharged engine underneath. Greddy titanium exhaust. Red interior trim with red Bride racing seats and green Takata harnesses. Hard Dog roll bar. Custom 3D-printed Rays Gram Lights 57Transcend Rev Limit rims (by Brickthebrick.com). Livery with vintage racing-inspired white roundel and the majestic Mobil Pegasus (by Brickstickershop.com). Hope you like it!

Fire Emblem Fates: Corrin (Male, Female, and Dragon)
StudWorks posted a topic in LEGO Action Figures
My 1:12-scale figures of Male Corrin, Female Corrin, and Corrin's dragon form from the Nintendo 3DS game Fire Emblem Fates! Instructions for all three are available on Rebrickable! Corrin is Fire Emblem Fates' main character/avatar, a noble torn between the kingdoms of Nohr and Hoshido. The human figures have authentic articulation with their many joints, plus various details from the game: Yato, Corrin's legendary sword and Omega Yato, the sword's true form. Dragonstone. Shape-shifted dragon head. Dragon fang shot arm with blast. Dragon lance arm. Three changeable facial expressions (normal, smiling, and shouting). Open hands and fists. Adjustable cape and skirt. (Female Corrin also has adjustable hair) A 1x1 plate to raise hip/legs assembly for crouching poses. Posing stand for complicated poses and stability. The stunning brick-built dragon also has authentic articulation: its head, neck, arms, legs, claws, tail, and wings can all be adjusted for posing. For lovers of Fire Emblem and LEGO, my 1:12 scale figures are the perfect, affordable way to show your love for your favorite characters. As most may never be produced in actual action figure form, here's your chance to build your own! Hope you like the figures, more Fire Emblem Fates characters are coming soon!-

Stunning and huge! So glad when I clicked it that it wasn't the Jack Black Steve.

Especially seeing how the rumored "video" shows the car next to the 2 Fast 2 Furious Skyline GT-R set. See, we are getting more movie car sets!

[MOC] KTM 690 Duke 1:5
StudWorks replied to JoKo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The use of the light brick to show the ignition/combustion is seriously wicked! MOC makers should be taking notes of that for future inspiration.
