  1. I like a lot of the alternative reality set lists, the ones that have actual sets that could be made. I'm not so into the never gonna happen lists. I just skip them now. Remaking the 2018 onward sets is something I'm not really into yet. I can see the train been done as a very detailed version but i don't think I need it. I can see them doing a better whomping willow set with werewolf transformation, I'd buy that. I love updated sets but it seems too early for them to be updating things like Hagrid hut. The last one was really good, I don't see why I would need a new one. There are so many sets from the original run that haven't been updated yet, Lego has so much to work with still, no remakes please. I still think we are just not getting very much from Deathly Hallows this year so it being 20th anniversary anything goes. Im looking forward to seeing fluffy and the new snake. What new stickers, new elements and new figures we get. Thats what makes me happy in the long run so I'll be happy with the new sets or I'll modify them to make me happy with them. In a five day lockdown in Melbourne so I built the never made Malfoy Manor concept set that was in the old Harry Potter building the magical world book. I'll put a picture up later on when i get a chance to take a photo.
  2. I'm thinking this is more to do with people thinking that the unknown sets would be based solely on the Deathly Hallows. We might get some references to it in a Hogwarts expansion or Gringotts (if we get that this year) but lego had a few sets featuring the first two movies again last year so maybe we are getting earlier movie sets again in the late summer wave and some small DH sets. I don't really mine what years the sets are from so I'lll only be disappointed if the quality of build is bad. The less detailed Hogwarts chamber set has me a little worried about that build but I'll be happy with a new snake. I'll patiently wait till i see a really blurry leak and squint at all the details I can't make out to form an opinion on this years waves. Also if the large set turns out not to be Gringotts what could it be instead?
  3. Thats a bit disappointing, I can see why there was so much talk of getting them in the cfm this year as they would have been done right.
  4. I'm hoping that the bathroom set figures are all wearing their Slytherin robs.
  5. I think a lot of people will buy Escape from Gringotts (guessing as to what the set will be) but not the rest of the street. And if you bought the Diagon Alley set you will probably buy Gringotts to finish it off and probably the same in reverse, if you buy Gringotts you might invest in the rest of the street. I think more obscure shops got added to make it feel more Alley like. I say the other side of the street is doubtful because the shops are not that well known. I doubt it will release it as one big set so if they break it up I doubt people will buy them unless they have the rest of the street. Never say never but I think they will make other sets rather than the rest of the street. I'm happy for Lego to prove me wrong ;) I doubt we will ever see the rest of the micro Hogwarts set as well.
  6. I was reading Blocks issue 73 where they review Diagon Alley and there are a few interesting quotes from Marcos Bessa: "We Originally had a plan to have only three buildings in Diagon Alley and they were done in a slightly bigger scale. In the first sketch (model) I had three floors in each of the buildings. I was only featuring Ollivanders, Flourish and Blotts and the Weasley shop." Interesting to see what shops were going to be featured, I think if they had gone this road they should have released them individually like the winter village sets releasing each year as three shops would not have felt like much of a street. And no mention of Gringotts bank being considered at all so i'd say it was in development already as a release for the final movies. "We have no reference for what's inside a lot of these rooms. But we are very limited to what we can make up in this universe because of the partner. We have to work with Warner on anything they feel represents their IP properly, so I have very little freedom to make up stuff." This one made me sad for him as a designer that he couldn't let his imagination run wild as to what might be in some of the rooms. He also talks about playing around with the modular style and making them compatible but a build on a 32x32 plate would mean making up a lot of stuff that they had no reference for. "We don't know what the buildings look like in the background or in the back alley. We barely had enough reference to populate the interior of the buildings. it would just create a whole lot more of a puzzle that we just did not want to handle." So i definitely think we will get Gringotts this year or next but I'm doubtful we will ever get the other side of the street. I'll add it to my list of things to build myself. In Blocks mag they do a custom Gringotts build which is not too bad but the dome is not great, can't wait to see how they do a proper dome in the official set. Hopefully they create a new part. On other news, I did pick up some of the new cfm figures as I wanted the violin for my Yule ball band and some of the centaur figures to make some custom ones.
  7. Thanks. Working on interior of Ollivanders at the mo but should be done in a few days. Finished interior of Broomstix tonight .
  8. Made a comparison picture of the original and my moc. Made a few more alterations to some of the buildings as I ordered some more bricks. Just need to do interior of Oliivanders and Scribbulus now.
  9. A bit off topic but has anyone bought the new Bonsai tree set for the tree build. I'm not usually mad on the trees that come with the harry potter sets except the ones that came with Expecto Patronum, they were pretty good. The Bonsai tree is cool, I just don't want the stand and bowl. I would love if lego would just do a varied tree range that is just the tree (to keep costs down) and you could get multiples of them to fill your builds.
  10. Fab. Looks Amazing. Do you make interiors or is it just exterior build. Do you post your work anywhere? insta or flickr? Greenhouses look cool.
  11. Happy new year everyone, hope everyone had fun building all their Christmas and New Year lego. I managed to get MBoM when the Lego shop was selling it and it was all sold out in-store but the staff sold me the one they build themselves for display that morning for 20% off. I was more than happy, and whoever built it was amazing at applying stickers. Got all the new Harry Potter book sets but they released early in-store here in Melbourne so no free MBoM set with that which was a shame. All my sticker sheets were crushed which is so annoying, gonna request new ones, I'm trying to flatten the ones that came with the sets under some actual books. The sets are cute but not really must haves. I think I would have preferred if the fronts of the book were covers like a Potions book cover. McGonagall is probably the best figure, Flitwick is ok but still not totally accurate and finally a soot covered face for Seamus.. Love all the new small book inserts and the new earmuffs for Herbology class. And the stickers are a mixed bag, some are nicely detailed and I'll use them in my moc but some of the Herbology and potions ones are a bit simple and ugly looking. Now I'm off to tidy my building room so I can build without messy distractions. Looking forward to seeing what 2021 brings to Harry Potter Lego.
  12. My second side of the Fireplace from the advent calendar came with the cup of water again not the chocolate frog.
  13. Not a fan of the Harry Potter lego arts. I was expecting colourful for some reason. I think the books are cool though so something new to get in January.
  14. Not a fan of the second film or Depp in it. Hopefully recasting him might reinvigorate the next movie and hope they cast someone who has chemistry with Dumbledore, a bit like the chemistry between professor x and magneto, friends and enemies at the same time.
  15. On the final run on Diagon Alley moc. Just need to finish Olivanders and all the outsides will be finished at least.
  16. Nice job, you should probably add and extra level of window to the top and bottom windows in Olivanders to scale it up to the size of the other buildings, It looks a bit squished.
  17. Yeah I actually never built the set from instructions, I went straight into my moc as I had decided on the new sizes of the shops and what I was going to alter. I might have tried my initial idea if I had built them normally on the baseplate first but I was too excited to do my bigger floor plan idea. I'm not finished QQS yet but this is what the new facade looks like after alterations. By ditching the baseplate I could reduce the width of the building and make the right side more balanced.
  18. I'm all for giving a movie another go but when its bad its not worth wasting time on it. And the last two star wars movies were in the same boat, awful as well. No second viewing required for that rubbish. Rant over. Looking forward to seeing what the book sets look like. Not expecting much but hopefully some cool stickers and maybe new prints for some figures.
  19. Yeah its a terribly written mess of a movie. I really don't think another movie will make this one seem better. They should pretend this one never happen Hoping the new game is great and then we might get more of them.
  20. I think the Bell Towers are really the only major recognisable part of Hogwarts left considering the scale they ued for the Viaduct entrance this year. The set could be the towers and the building behind it that leads up to the Viaduct entrance. The Boathouse is possible but scale is an issue with that one. And after getting the Room of Requirements as an interior set we probably will get more of these now as they are running out of castle to fit rooms into. They could do a courtyard battle scene next year but it's hard to predict where the line is headed. They are starting to venture out of Hogwarts for more sets now so hopefully we get the Ministry and other cool places, maybe some new Fantastic beast sets or buildable animals, and maybe something from the new Hogwarts game.
  21. Thanks, fun one to do as its so colourful. Makes a change from tan Hogwarts. Finished Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Cool build, love all the windows. Didn't change much of the original design, just expanded on it.
  22. Looks great, never used any of the digital stuff but this looks very well designed. Looking forward to seeing the real world build. Love the rooms you made. Still haven't made the patronus room of requirement in mine yet.
  23. I think it hard to predict what would sell in the lego but I would love a Hogsmeade set. They would fit in well with the winter village series and would be the first winter set ,that's not an advent calendar, for harry and probably be a good seller at christmas. Also my lego order has shipped, hopefully gets here tomorrow.
  24. It has a sign outside for readings so a tea cup or a crystal ball would have been a better inclusion. Lucky you, let us know how long it takes to come.
