  1. Yeah i just checked there. Richmond is the only store that's showing stock near me and its not in my 5 km so hopefully northland will get them in tomorrow. Are you able to pick up near you? Not a massive discount getting them in kmart which is a shame.
  2. No sign yet. Kmart started putting out the new friends sets so they are getting in new stuff. Once kmart lists the harry potter stuff as coming soon they can appear in store before the web site but they are usually never my kmarts until a few days later. With the lockdown coming today you might have to click and collect so hopefully saturday might be the earliest.
  3. While I'm not a massive fan of the new style I think they are a good call back to the original sets. Seeing them side by side in this video shows how similar they are and if that was their brief well done to the lego team. The chamber is probably the most successful with most of the interiors being of a high standard and the three headed dog set being the worst for the castle build. I'm looking forward to making the chamber and then robbing it of all its good bits. My most anticipated set is Hogsmeade but just because i want to modify it and add some extra buildings.
  4. Kind of wish the two men looked more wizard like with peaked hats and robes. The men feel a bit generic. Glad we can get more of those bottles though. Since harry has his Dumbledores army list maybe these are extras for Hogsmeade village rather than Diagon alley?
  5. Elongating the Hall is pretty easy, you just need the parts for a new window section. I'd see how many studs this extends it and figure out how you do the same to the chamber before finalising the Hall. Once your happy you can extend both without too much difficulty you can commit to it. Have fun.
  6. Me too. There is just something off about this piece. Hopefully we get a proper dome at some stage.
  7. Here's a look what it looks like with tabs and with them chopped off. Not sure how people fell about butchering lego but the piece is useless with them on to me. It's an odd shape as well, think it's 11 studs across which gives it that slight overhang. It wouldn't work with the digital moc as I have an office in the dome so I only need half a dome so you can gain access to it.
  8. I have the piece and I tried it. I looks odd because of the lip pieces that connect the two domes together. It fits on my bigger moc. It works as an alternative I just wish it connected properly like a normal lego piece.
  9. There not too bad when they are going to something to keep them stable. I have a full circle of them on my larger version and I can add the dragon on top. I think lego needs to make a new piece or print a trans part that form a dome but this is the best way I think at the moment.
  10. Yeah a second set of windows would bulk it out and make it feel substantial. The reason its small was to fit it on the baseplate system lego used in the official set. I could add an extension on another baseplate with more windows and vaults, might be nice to see.
  11. This is the best seeing all these options. Well done. You should duplicate the rock section for fun and raise it all to see what it could be like if it was all raised up. More fantasy stuff, if we actually got Gringotts this year it might have been something like this. Shrunk down my bigger moc to fit with the official set.
  12. A key army. Thats a lot of keys. Looking forward to seeing how you integrate them into the new sets. I made a smaller Gringotts bank and Broomstix that could be added to the existing sets.
  13. The main Hogwarts set keeps creeping up in price each year, my poor wallet. Love seeing all the hd pictures. Its a no on the big figures, will get chess and fawkes eventually but I only want the figures from the chess, wait for good discount. Will get fawkes eventually but hopefully on discount. I'll get all the other sets but only Hogsmeade to keep and the rest will broken up and be added to my green roof Hogwarts moc. I love some parts of the new sets but all I really see is parts now that could be added into the 2018/2020 hogwarts set. The chamber rock section could be added (with modification) under the original great hall, but then you have to do the rest of the set, ahhhh. The new elements in the great hall like the cereal and owl can just be put in the old hall. I'd put Lockharts class in the clock tower and replace moodys or blend them and add the goblet of fire from the advent calendar to ground floor. The astronomy stuff from the great hall can just be added to the astronomy tower. The flying lesson could just be left as is an added to old sets The stuff in the fluffy encounter tower can just be added to the great hall tower where the chest and sorting hat are, The bathroom and fluffy encounter could be modified into the part of Hogwarts beside the Great Hall Tower.
  14. Do the figures from the chess set come in another set?
  15. I was admiring the house flags shields too.
  16. Shame the fawkes has the same build as hedwig. I think if he had something different about him i might have got him. And no flying fawkes figure, not happy.
  17. The big figs look cool but I won't be getting them. I am happy we are getting pictures today though. Yeah!!!
  18. Im doing the opposite, I'm stealing all the green roof pieces to change the astronomy tower roofs to green to fit in my old castle display
  19. I suppose you could display your 2018/2020 Hogwarts looking at the exterior and display the new one looking at the interior. They are definitely getting more detail into some of the interiors and I'm pretty surprised how good they are. I think some of the new stickers are great and the amount of school robes should please everyone. Hogsmeade still looks great. I'll integrate these into my 2010 Hogwarts design sets.
  20. I'm thinking this too. This year could have finished the castle as we are running out of possible parts to built to fit with its scale. But now we have a whole new style this year. I can imagine lego continuing to add to this new design style and not splitting the wave into add ons for the old style as well. As long as they build for the old style they need the old sets available as you gotta have them all really.
  21. Looks great. You need to host your photos on flickr or other hosting sites to get good photos up on here and then you can just add the link and the picture will appear here. I had a go doing some digital designs. Here is my Battle of Hogwarts Bell Tower moc with the greenhouse from Astronomy Tower set added on. I built it in the real world first which defeats the purpose of doing it digitally. :) https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-72990/micmacpadwac/battle-at-bell-towers/#details
  22. But does it need to be a $250 set. I think $100 sets would be enough to get the feel of it. I just don't see the demand for a building that's not that important in the movie. Most people wouldn't even recognise it I think.
  23. I doubt the D2C needs to stick with the anniversary theme. I hoping its a mini figure play set and it can only be certain things if it is. Some options are: 1. Large Quidditch set or world cup set. I think a full quidditch pitch set would look cool but might be a nightmare to display. 2. Ministry of Magic. Could do lobby and an offices and orb room and fight scene where Sirius dies. Would be vignettes really as the building is underground. Cloud city type set. 3. Malfoy manor. Larger table, fireplace and dungeon. Not sure about this one, don't think it needs to be this big. 4. Grimmauld place. Think this doesn't need this budget to be made, could be done similar to Privet drive budget. 5. Diagon Alley extension. Well Gringotts anyway and possible inclusion of any of the missing buildings. Think it would need to be more than just the bank for this budget. 6. Motorised train. Train sets can always be upgraded to fit the budget. 7. Some parts of Hogwarts. Not really sure what they would do but they could do something like the Battle of Hogwarts in the courtyard, They really can't do any courtyards that would fit with the existing sets but this one off could be a display piece. 8. Durmstrang ship with tasks. Could be a cool set but I don't think it needs this budget. Much better as smaller set/sets Well that's all I can think of, anyone else got more options other than a sock :) Please go to facebook to discuss this rubbish. This is a Harry potter forum not a cancel culture outrage forum.
  24. I totally agree. But at the moment we are not sure if it's a chess set, or the chess scene with castle elements. My confusion with it is if can be connected to Hogwarts castle I can't imagine the small castle and then this giant chess set. It will dwarf everything else. I don't really want a chess set but would be happy with the small scene set. Time will tell I suppose.
  25. Because I moc stuff i always feel lego want you to buy two sets to make it look right (spiderman bridge anyone). If the set connects to Hogwarts and has some wall elements I can imagine lego not doing a full chess board but having at least one of every big piece and a good few pawns and then you could buy another set to make it a full board. Also I wonder will the advent calendar have some chess pieces in it this year, didn't they say it had a play element.
