  1. Awesome work, following it with great interest! Those gear rack limiters could've just been 1x1 round plates pushed with stud into pin hole, right? Saves 2 pieces, wow my contributions are so valuable... Edit: well here's an actual bug report: in the gearbox, between the 8-tooth gear and blue 20-tooth gear, there's a rogue 1L beam.
  2. Also bought mine new in 1994, wheels are still pretty white. My most discolored part is that special plate holding the gearshift. Looks a bit out of place now...
  3. ... from the times when those red panels were still affordable... Anyway, I love this kind of frugal design!
  4. What kind of prototype parts? Just curious. Did TLG ask this after acquiring BL?
  5. Already you can find on BrickLink genuine parts in colors that don't appear in any set. Sellers should be made to provide their backstory...
  6. I both love and hate how firmly these guys 'snap'. They say, avoid friction locking, but holding something with just 2 of these pin connectors basically guarantees it'll never come off. On the other hand, I almost tear off my skin during disassembly... If the new mold has less 'snap', I'll have to re-evaluate my trust in them...
  7. I love it! My favorite little detail is how you used a half pin to force the long thin panels (#5 & #6) to snugly close the gap (at the rear corners of the car).
  8. @amorti Nice, I ordered those U-joints a while back too. Haven't arrived yet though. My expectations aren't too high, but I was curious enough to hit "order"
  9. Was browsing the Lego replacement brick service today... First we have: And then we have: What's the difference? (other than price and rendering...)
  10. True. I was comparing them in LDCad recently. With the same hub position, the Bugatti rims stick out about 1mm further than the Porsche rims.
  11. Click on the arrow in the right corner of the blue bar.
  12. It will only fix the attachment of the rim to the hub. I have 8448 on my shelf but I don't have any 1:8 car built right now so I can't show a wheel swap. Hey look what I found, first result googling "42056 with 8448 wheels":

  14. Same diameter, but only 75% as wide, which could affect the look, as well as steering geometry. NB: To fit them on the modern 3-pin wheel hub, you'll have to add a pulley wheel as padding, because the pinholes on the 8448 rims are only 0.5L deep. Check out http://www.wheels.sariel.pl/ or get the app
  15. Interesting! But what people are willing to pay will -- among other factors -- depend on whether you can provide a plausible story about their origin and authenticity. Also, people need to trust you as a seller, or you'll need to auction them through a reputable third party that can vouch for the items.
  16. Well the tires are readily available from Lego (search for item number 23799) and only cost around $3 a piece. Brand new and genuine. The Porsche rims can be bought fake but cheap and in a variety of Chrome options from China for $3 a piece as well (sometimes discounted to $2).
  17. I had a look, great stuff! I did notice you accidentally switched around some DBG panels in the seats...
  18. Ahhh that makes sense! I had been happily using the 9L steering links in my own builds, and was wondering if I had been doing something wrong all this time. But luckily I have a fetish for those wishbone suspension arms, which are also 9L... so all was right!
  19. Can you remind us what's bad about the 9L steering links? (I've seen complaints about them in other threads, but never why...)
  20. Out of morbid curiosity I ordered a couple on BrickLink and they just arrived. Mine also bear the Lego imprint, so they seem genuine indeed. Nice.
  21. Is there any info about the inside of the drum? Any chance of it having the required Archimedes screw?
  22. Thanks @Didumos69, I'm reading along with great interest. (Also thanks @SamuelYsc for prompting him )
  23. Funny to see this thread got bumped, as I just finished collecting the parts to build it in Red. I'll post pics when I'm done building.
