  1. So how about making the headlight strips glow in the dark? Key parts used: https://rebrickable.com/parts/40379/animal-body-part-plant-tail-claw-horn-branch-tentacle-end-section/21/ https://rebrickable.com/parts/30374/bar-4l-lightsaber-blade-wand/1000/
  2. I don't see the issue with taking Grohl's comment literally. I'd look at it from Grohl's perspective, i.e., from the Technic team. They need to justify the resources allocated to them. Given the 'mature' B-modeling community (Rebrickable etc.) it could be that the Technic team failed to justify resource allocation for 'official' B-modeling. The result is, as Grohl said, a veritable lack of resources.
  3. @jb70 That's so awesome, thanks a lot for sharing!!
  4. It's available among the unofficial parts at ldraw.org, perhaps you can import it.
  5. Thanks for the tip, my dear neighbor! Sometimes I do it the other way around though... Ordering something to Lavena Ponte Tresa with cheap EU shipping, then take it across the CH border myself... I would've posted the link already but unfortunately the shop in question does not appear to sell the micro motors anymore...
  6. Hmmm I bought a bunch of those mini motors a year ago from ali... Just looked up the order: I paid about $6 per motor, free shipping. I don't recall having to pay any import duty.
  7. Yes. https://brickset.com/article/80009/full-list-of-north-american-price-increases
  8. Regarding this one, you may be interested in my 'pimped' version built from genuine Lego. Full virtual model with building steps available for free.
  9. Actually, I did my mods to incorporate the wheel arches from set 42125 after seeing this stolen copy. They added wheel arch panels, but doing so they totally screwed up the shaping of the car -- one can hardly recognize the 488 Pista any longer. I couldn't stand it, and resolved to add wheel arch panels the right way. I won't be the judge of whether or not I succeeded -- feel free to compare: https://bricksafe.com/pages/astyanax/pimp_my_pista
  10. I bet they have a couple of prototypes for this mechanism at TLG, but decided none passed their quality/reliability requirements. Sometimes designers even explicitly state they tried adding a feature but scrapped it later. Would be interesting if TLG were more open toward the modding community about the specific ways they tried to achieve additional functions or details -- to see what were their best prototypes... Ah well...
  11. I built the 488 Pista from genuine Lego parts with Lego U-joints. Raced it with 4x PF L motors and 2x BuWizz 2.0. After disassembly, I found 1 U-joint had a crack.
  12. I literally meant there's a Question and an Answer. One pair. You're right they're in the comments, I copied them above. My point was, 5 months after the introduction of the new 3-month-rule for novel parts to appear on PaB, there's still no view toward the new parts from March appearing anytime soon...
  13. Check out this Q&A underneath the article:
  14. Possible caveat: that ring is 0.4 module thick, not 0.5 module like the half-bush.
  15. Best is to think of the ubiquitous black 2L pin as the reference. Then is ½ the length (disregarding the stud) and is ¾ the length. I don't think there's anything called "¼ pin". Really depends on the application. How much slack do you want? Select the pin based on the answer...
  16. Are you arguing in favor of color vomit now..?
  17. I've always thought that Trans-red taillights are disappointingly hard to see on a Red model. Perhaps try a Flat Silver rigid hose for some contrast?
  18. Fair enough. Still it feels like a doubly lazy job, in that they took the Sian gearbox (1st lazy), replaced 12t and 20t bevel gears by their new spur variants, but then didn't replace the bevel clutch gears (2nd lazy)... But perhaps the reason is just a boring one, like it was all a matter of production planning...
  19. Rejoice! But why weren't they included already in the Ferrari Daytona SP3?! (Presuming they'd make the gearbox even smoother...)
  20. I have a bunch. They're definitely powerful given their size. Not sure what 'small' is in your book (like 8047?), but I think they stand a fair chance. One caveat: they can't be rotated by externally. So your vehicle will drive only by flipping the switch.
  21. I'm afraid it will leave a lot of skid marks... Okay I'll show myself out...
  22. Nonetheless those Chrome Gold rings (11010) are great, worth getting a handful of. Useful as spacers, at 8 LDU they're slightly thinner than half-bushes (10 LDU). Also great for decoration! I used like 8 of them in my Lamborghini Vision GT mod.
