Because LEGO stopped production on sand red pieces about 15 years ago, 1x2 plates in that color cost $3 each in the US! So I took matters into my own hands

This is superb @Ayrlego! The colors of the vegetation and the building/roof combo look so great. Excellent job! The sand green/ dark green base combo works really well How is that evergreen bush on the right held together? A GoC from me

[COR-FB] Patrolling Near Seawatch
evancelt replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks @NOD @Captain Braunsfeld @Bregir @Justsomebrix ! I was going for him resting the musket in the crook of his left arm (inner elbow) -
Thanks! The chevrons are just a little sticker I printed onto Avery shipping labels Thanks! It's fun to mix up base styles and these sideways SNOT ones are very quick and add interesting textures

With the relief of Seawatch complete, Major Brickleton leads a company of 18th Hussars on a patrol around the recently besieged city. Because much of the terrain is thick with underbrush, they find it easiest to travel in stream beds. His patrol is not the only one active in the area - similar groups of Eslandolan and Carnite cavalry make rounds in search of lingering Lotii forces. ------------------- OOC: Just a quick build to try out some new trees

Brought this build to the LEGO Store at Colorado Mills today. You can check it out if you swing by
-
Thanks! The field gun is a custom 3d print I got off of AliExpress
-
Here's a quick little build I made tonight that shows the same figures from my May 2022 'West Into The Aspens' MOC. Planning to display it at the Denver LEGO store.
-
The MILs will allow me to store it pretty easily and also bring it to LEGO / train shows with only a few boxes!
-
Thanks for your interest! Yes, I'm aiming for 1820's - 1830's European - perhaps an English mining town? The build will be very green and I have a large flock of sheep that it would be fun to add to the display. There will also be some mountains in the background, so I could build out a mine there. For the proto train, I think I'll add a Rocket-esque tender car and then an open-top wagon-like passenger car RE: The woodprint ties, yes I think the 1x1 tiles would look better if they were also printed. There is a European train company that makes those, though I'd need a bunch of them. I do have a few hundred more 1x4 printed tiles coming in the mail (both med nougat and reddish brown) - also a bunch more 1x1 med nougat tiles to cap the ends of the sleepers. Once all of the sleepers are down, I plan to sprinkle a few hundred light / dark bley 1x1 round plates and tiles between them to add some more texture.

I look forward to seeing you use it! Yeah, maybe better with one off the back? Love the subsequent uses of the seaweed tree in your builds! Yes the white handcuffs are new this year I think! Agreed on both counts - i ran out of pieces which is why the roof is hodgepodge. I love those figures mostly for their hats and swords :D This redcoat with black facing is the best of the bunch I think
-
Haha agreed - you could make a massive world on a 48x48 baseplate Thanks @Kai NRG! Yes, the glare rain was intentional - glad you caught that. I have a whole ton of med nougat and drk tan claw pieces coming in the mail that I'm looking forward to using as a roof in an upcoming build. Haha the mushroom is weird, isn't it? I had originally thought it might look like a dirt hill or something, but from this low angle you can see under it! The lavender flowers have petals on them, so I figured those could be tree leaves

I look forward to seeing it! Thanks LM71! Yeah the gun ports are awfully small, aren't they Thanks! I really like that this whole ship can fit in a relatively small box for storage Thanks @NOD!

[Collab - Freebuild] The Legend of Haunted Hallowdijk
evancelt replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It takes a special kind of stubborn to live in a place where any of your neighbours could be a murderer. But Hallowdijk breeds stubborn folk like rabbits. The year got round to autumn, and only a dozen people were left in the village, the guard included. They were left watchin each other warily, wondering whether the killer was still among them, or whether they'd left town already. Well finally, it seems the militia got lucky! Merrick and his men picked up young Jacob Daglunder skulking around Peer Van Gruber's House late one night, all the murder weapons in his wallet, and a list of names in his pocket. Van Gruber admitted that he'd written the lad into his will a few months back, not having any family of his own left to inherit his land. And, when all was said and done, it was Van Gruber who was left with the De Bruer Inn, and all of its rents. It seems that he was a confidant of old De Pfeffel, the Widow Hagen's brother. If young Daglund had had his way, all the land in the area would have been his. Quite how a man could bring himself to murder six people, I'll never know. Some people whisper that he was the last living member of the old Dogland family, trying to reclaim his homeland by any means, fair or foul. Others say he was afflicted by the curse of the marshes. Either way, the town's bad luck died with him. After they stretched his neck from the gallows tree, people started coming back to Hallowdijk. When the new canal was built over the Isthmus, the place became a useful supply station. Nowadays, people forget the way it once was. But not everyone. That place is cursed my lads, and you'd be safer going the long way round... -
Got started on a corner module and ballasted some curved track. Waiting on a bunch more tiles to come in the mail! They'll be used for rail ties.
