nice work especcially for the curve steps and the roof ofcourse! -
first paperinik77 joined feuer zugs discussion and i saw what he was building and i wanted to build essentially the same loco for years in proper form because the first loco i built with lego was the same one although not very good and detailed. so i thought to myself lets try and do it now! my latest progress: i redesigned the rear hood to include a more prototypical hood although i still need to improve the design to remove the gaps from it. edit:did some more designing (a snot nightmare!) now it is just a half plate gap of air to fill. lets see how long that half plate gap will haunt me...

the drive system looks like something right up my alley like trying to cram as much gearing into impossibly small models is my thing aswell awesome ideas for the drive system!

you can participate with them they look really good especially if you started just a few weeks ago and they would fit this years topic very well! digital builds are allowed aswell
-
do you participate in octraintober aswell?
-
speaking of vacuum you could build a car with a small vacuum on it that could work (it does on model railways!)
-
the next steps towards the final model are done! i have added some detail/ improved a few things like the snowplough and headlight fixtures. i also added the grills/cooling vents on the sides however i dont like the way the ones on the rear hoods look like. the original are taller but still in the same place

nice model looks really interesting! even if you cant finish it by then you can use the render as digital models are allowed if they are able to be built physically (no parts in unavailable colors etc.)- 45 replies

fx may bring some new 9v motors to market other than that i dont think so unfortunately
-
aww it looks so cute! the real life model looks even nicer than the renders! awesome work
-
tried your suggestion worked perfectly thank you very much! next up is improving the looks of the headlights and general detailing.
-
good suggestion! will try that out!
-
awesome build loving the astetic really complex build at such a small scale!
-
the snot is the issue for the gap! see how the top half of the hood stands out forward like this and has a huge gap in it? that is my issue currently you have quite the callenge with your chassis and drive system! mine is just a simple 9v motor and i am done with it but huge respect for doing something similar to the piko model!
-
the gap that i am talking about is because half of my hood will be snotted and ill have to see how to design that
-
yea we will see the deciding factor will be if i get the 5 wide hoods connected to the 6 wide cab in a way that looks good and doesnt have a 10 meter gap inbetween it!
-
subscribed aswell! nice video and layout there!

dcc enables you to automate trains and much more like adding sound to them, lights that change based on train direction and it allowes you to have lights when the train isnt moving. financially yes it is an investment but it also depends with what central station or components you choose. they can vary in price insanely depending on the brand/features you want. if you are happy with your current solution then stick with it!

i mean you are thinking similar to how i think when doing 4 wide models just that i am kinda going the other way with like how can i make this piece stay on? but the overall line of thinking is very similar!

looks super close! awesome building technique i am very curious about the details on how it is build -
awesome model really nice bulding style it for shure is difficult to make the model look like the prototype but not going to fancy and ruining the 12v astetic
-
awesome layout! if it is a permanent one you might want to look at converting your trains to dcc controll so they can all be controlled by one pc/raspberry/tablet
-
why would they release one though? if they released one based on the rollercoaster track it would make more sense for lego in my opinion

ok so it was something totally different. with me being german i have zero chance of guessing that but nice way of dropping hints and keeping us guessing i am very curious on how you will build the face though. nice pick for a build especcially something you dont see every day here!
