true. especially if you look at some of the pre ww2 era trains and racecars they dont look that old. for example the streamlined cars that raced on the avus hitting insane speeds for the time or the double decker passenger cars of the hamburg lübecker eisenbahn. wild stuff.

very nice! you even made the effort to build little display stands for them. glad you are back!

[OcTRAINber MOC] LMS Articulated Railcar (1938)

shure...the snot solutions you did there...i am out. -
would have been a great thing for this years octrainber theme but i dont know if this was actually a real thing. didnt realize this earlier. doesnt matter. i may make one.

now i have eradicated the last little bit of unsymetricalness, added more details and made it so the motor doesnt fall out first up is the bottom: i added a corner panel and a plate to make the motor not only be held in by friction. te tension from the rubber bands would otherwise often pop the motor out. next up is the coupling mechanism. it just uses that bar hook to grab onto a round plate. one side. the other side looks the same. more detailed look from the side.

OcTRAINber 2022: The "Rebuilds & Retrofits" Challenge!

completely understandable @Paperinik77pk sometimes life just has different choices and things going for you. one option would have been to make it digital only like my submission (and the two of last year that have since been built in real bricks). but lego is supposed to be fun and if you dont feel like it then dont do it. hope you find the fun again and regain time to finish this quite frankly even at this stage very good model. -
the pu motor should be the same motor in theory just with a different cable, connector and ofcourse those id resistors to make the hub know what is connected. if you like pu id go pu.

it is time for an update again. having looked at it today for another time i thought: i must fix the non symetrical ends. it just triggers me to much. i tried previously but never found a good solution until now. the issue is that there simply is almost no space to mount the rear wheels whilst also making it look good. on the front nothing has changed but the back now looks the same as the front. the underside: here you can see the changes i made. i added another bracket to the front to make the motor more stable, cut into the bottom plate of the motor to allow for better routing of the cable and the most important change of all: the rear is now connected by two brackets upside down. As always the file for this model can be found under the link in my signature if anyone wants to check it out or build it.

Nice one! The best era (arguably) of lego trains!

here is a render of my modified tram wagon: the decorative rings on the front had to go to make way for the coupler

or that ofcourse. my motivation was more to design a cute steam tram locomotive than find a solution (the 9v motor thingy was the side effect and then became one of the goals). as i said you could also just use a powered up/ power functions motor with power pickups. my solution is also good for purists that dont like to mod any lego even if it is completely reversible.

I think all of you probably know the new holiday main street and its tram car by now. i decided to rethink the tram a little in a way. the problem with the motorisation option as lego suggests is that it doesnt work if you use a 9v train motor (if you use vanilla 9v without custom power pickups) as the second axle of the motor that cant be removed interferes in turns. what do you do then? well one option is to let the car be pulled by a locomotive. trams used to be locomotive pulled in the steam era. the example shown here is in Bavaria near the Chiemsee in Prien. Enough about the prototype here is the model: the undercarridge is largely based on my e69 locomotive with modifications of course to make room for the connecting rods and cylinders. there is a boiler inside. the fireman is at the back while the driver is at the front. i couldnt find the leaves that the tram uses in studio so there is empty space there. the decorative ring also didnt fit. i have also modded the tram car itself to have magnetic couplers but i will show this tomorrow. hope you like it!
