  1. Arch-nemesis of the heroic lamp from the BARC speeder set. (Just to clarify, since I unironically love the lamp sidebuild in the BARC set, i don't care about this one- it's already a terrain build, the lamp is two parts, it has no impact on my opinion of the set)
  2. The AoU set I get a bit as it could have had quicksilver (not that I think it needed him) but the real question I've got is who you were expecting to be put in the Avengers Leviathan set that wasn't in the tower? At least there are some changes- I'm not really sure what else they could have done there. Extremely suspicious about the calendar. The move back to $35 is great, but I see at most 17 days of stuff, and that's counting goblin, the glider, and the second glider segment as separate days. I'm concerned they're going to start doing just tiny bits of builds rather than getting a full build each day. The figures are also incredibly safe and boring choices- Spider-Man, Miles, Gwen, Venom, Goblin.
  3. Jonkler needs the kryptonite to pay off his pizza tab at luigi's, and luigi needs the kryptonite as a topping for his new pizza. It's such a weird choice even for this theme. They took the time to make a new print, and chose for it to be based on... no one.... ok. Also, should have been Robin. He needs to show up somewhere. As for the last question, you know the answer. Thanks for the clarification Welcome to eurobricks, love the profile picture. It did get lost in the shuffle a bit, but some others have responded with one of the guys who has it up. me when I'm eating at Luigi's pizza but then see the Jonkler show up with a green rock.
  4. My personal guess is accidental overproduction of a part- they end up with more Nubs torsos than copies of the set they're producing, no plans to put him in another set- bam, PAB part. Advent calendar is a very fun one- aside from this being, I believe, the shortest turnaround for a desirable trooper being in a second set EVER (though the calendar is technically more expensive than the bunker, so it's not exactly the same thing), we get a nice sibling celebration with Luke's new hair, and most importantly, A PHYSICAL MINIKIT IN AN OFFICIAL SET. Not to mention the classic X-wing and TIE. I have a speadsheet with all the calendar info for this theme, so here's how it stacks up: 5 minifigs- average. That's what we've been seeing since 2021, and doesn't seem likely to change. It's been better in the past- 2016 had a whopping 8 minifigs- but this is fine. 1 molded droid - average. A little on the low end- we do get 2 sometimes- but not a big deal, especially since it's a B2 instead of a B1 like we normally get. NO brick-built characters- Era low. The first year since 2018 with no brick-built characters. I'm sure most people don't care for them, but I've always enjoyed the Gonks or mouse droids in these. One of the calendar's few weaknesses in my view. 17 microbuilds- ALL-TIME RECORD. This calendar smashes the previous record for microbuilds, held by 2018 and 2020 with 13 each. I normally wouldn't be a fan, but there are some great new parts in here, as well as fun references to old sets, so I don't mind. (Plus I get to update my records!) 1 other build- Era low. Only one non-microbuild or character build, a low since 2020's 0 with 2021, 2022, and 2023 all having 4 or more. Another minor weak point in my opinion- these can be bad, but some of them, like the emperor's throne, are superior to microbuilds in my opinion. On the bright side, it is a minikit, which I believe is a first for physical form and is a wonderful choice by lego. 2 New prints- average. Two sweaters has been the average for quite some time now, with 2022 being the only exception since the number increased in 2018. (And even then, one of the 2022 prints is on an R2 torso rather than a minifigure part.) Unless there's a shakeup in calendar form like there was around 2020/2021, this is my expectation for the 2025 calendar: 5 minifigs, 1 droid, 1 brick-built character, 13 microbuilds, 4 other builds
  5. Like I said earlier, Keaton Batman and Dr Strange are both characters that make sense. BTAS Batman, not as much and ESPECIALLY not Thor and Loki. My point is that I think the earlier ones were testing the waters, but it's now pretty clear that lego is trying to move away from cloth elements.
  6. That's what I said- the cloth capes will stick around with hooded characters awhile- since the hoods can't fit on the new cape- and we'll eventually get a hood that meshes with a plastic cape. Because they liked how it looked? it's not the most obscure cape design. To clairfy- I'm not saying lego did it completely regardless of the fact that that's the style Thor uses- I'm saying I don't think they'll hesitate to use this on other characters, and that I doubt a theme like lego marvel would allocate a new mold to a cape that attaches slightly differently. But they've been working towards this for awhile- Keaton Batman, Dr. Strange, and BTAS batman all have rubber capes as of 2024, and it's not a gimmick like superjumpers.
  7. Woohoo! It's back! A good selection too- I was wondering where we were going to go with the ship after the imperial ship and rebel-wing, but wasn't considering Sabine's ship stylings, that's a wonderful choice. Already got plenty of ideas, can't wait to start on this.
  8. Star wars has a bad track record with that, but the only movie I'm more confident than the Filoni movie that it's coming is the Mando movie. The Heir to the Empire movie has been built up to pretty heavily in Ahsoka, and Mando's hinted at the general premise as well (moving away from a mandalore-focused story to him hunting the imperial remnent). But even putting that aside, this is Dave Filoni. If he's making a movie, it's being made.
  9. I did mean battle pack, but now I really want to know what a lego battle pass would look like- $19 a month and they sent a battle pack to your door a few pieces a day? "Today's iron man's torso and head. Tomorrow you get the faceplate and helmet" I think hooded characters will have cloth capes for another few years, as the new hold mold was only 5 years ago. I also think they'll make it so the hood works with the cape, since I feel like hooded characters have to be able to turn their heads- though I would have said the same about Stormtroopers. I don't think lego's that worried about accuracy- I'm pretty sure a cape is a cape to them when it comes down to that level of detail. Superman will be a good indication of how far they're going with this. If the 2025 set(s) have plastic capes, I think it'll be pretty clear that they're phasing out cloth. If not, they might be used interchangeably for a while longer.
  10. They're 100% saving that for the movie Filoni's working on, which is rumored (I dunno if you can even call it rumors after ahsoka and where Mando S3 ended) to be an Heir to the Empire loose adaption. (And by loose adaption, I mean early MCU style- same general storyline, but some very different characters involved and very different specific events)
  11. Not to be rude, but who exactly do you think is out there waiting to buy a rexless microfighter y-wing or a pilotless pilot luke mech? If the set is a decomissioned star destroyer crashed on coruscant I will purchase a copy for you. My thoughts: $13 Rex- bit expensive for a minfigure, but the bag of spare parts makes up for that. (Because c'mon. Lego knows that's what they're doing, and I applaud them for decimating the scalpers like that). Day 1 buy. $15? $16? Luke mech- this is the best one. The mechs are stupid, and leaning into that stupidity by making an X-wing mech with wings is a genius move. If I see it on sale, I might even pick it up and give it some joints and a head to make an X-wing Gundam. $20 battle pack: I'm not going to lie I get why they don't just do terrain now, this is pretty bland. I personally like it, I like having the clear part in the set, and those imperials look great, it just feels more like a display set (plus the turret from the 332nd pack? what's up with that?) than a playset. But it's a battle pack so even though I doubt any kids care about the build, it's not like that's what they'd get the set for anyway. I suppose the value is there for $20 too, it's a fairly large amount of terrain. Not a day 1 purchase, but I'll probably end up getting a few copies at some point- hopefully on sale, but maybe not. $FORTY DOLLAR bunker: Lego, for $30 this would have been an incredible set. Another one that's a veritable display set or moc in terms of how it looks, and it looks great. Unlike the battle pack, the sliding door and larger turret add a level of playability for kids, too. But man, is that a rough price. And given the figs, it'll probably do well too, so no getting it on a good discount. I already have Paz, and didn't care much for season 3, so I don't think I'll be picking this up unless I find it for $25 or less. The fact that the set is a Star Destroyer is actually incredible and cements it as a purchase for me. The playsets are nice, but I don't think we were ever getting a display-worthy death star playset at that price, and I need to streamline my collection a bit for space reasons. But a new ISD after a FULL DECADE? That's incredible news. I'm definitely modding my 2014 model into the Kintsugi Chimera.
  12. Love the clear posing bars, who seem to have made their way into Star Wars now. Great way to turn a playset into a display item. Though personally I've been on this "they're coming for the cloth" theory for awhile now, and the fact that Thor and Loki both have them cements it for me that they're in the process of phasing out cloth minifigure elements. Beforehand there were other excuses- Keaton batman's iconic look lending itself well to a large single rubber part for the cowl and cape, the kamas being printed for either cost reasons or so the figs could sit, etc. Thor and Loki are generic capes.
  13. I dunno. On the one hand, even with a bigfig, 613 pieces for $100 is pretty bad. But I dunno, it LOOKS like a $100 set to me. It feels like the value is there- I'd say it's more value of stuff than the NWH set, which they apparently charge $110 for now? Surtur looks like a demon (in a good way), Groot looks like an abomination, Abomination.... isn't a figure. More thought-out thoughts on the sets: Iron Legion battle pack: Peak Marvel battle pack with a build that puts Star Wars to shame. Only gripe is Iron man instead of a second Hydra soldier, but since I'm not personally going to army build this, I'm fine with it. This is also the first battle pack where I've really felt that the $20 value is there- that's a chonky build. Surtur: The value is there, for $30, I guess. It LOOKS excellent, and if I was a kid, I'd be eating it up. As-is, since I've not got the largest marvel collection, it's an easy pass- but still an excellent toy. Leviathan: When I was 8, I went and saw The Avengers in theatres. It was the first marvel movie I'd seen on the big screen, and it's what got me into the wider marvel universe instead of just captain america. I was extremely bummed the leviathan wasn't a set. This is exactly what I would have wanted back then, and for $50, an excellent price. Another that I won't personally pick up for space reasons, but another that's still an excellent set. Avengers Assemble: First day 1 buy from this theme since Endgame. What a beautiful set. It also feels more full than something like the NWH set, despite having a number less parts. 613 pieces for $100 is a horrible PPP ratio, but personally I really see the value- it looks big, it's bursting at the seams with figures, etc. UCS Milano: because that's what it is. Not a guardians megafan, but this was a perfect choice for a UCS marvel set, and looks incredible. Another one where I won't pick it up but think it's a really incredible set. All in all I think this is the best lego marvel wave... maybe ever, to be honest. It'll be the first time since Endgame I've bought multiple full sets from a single wave (I'm not counting the mechs that I've impulse bought for the parts months after their release), and the first time since Endgame I'll have made a day 1 purchase.
  14. The avengers diorama has 8 figs and a Hulk. It's kind of hard to tell how big the build is, but it seems to be pretty sizable too going off the footprint of that main area having around as much depth as the jeep. Agreed, looks excellent. It's also by far the most "modern military" lego's gotten between the sandbags on that sentry tower and the tank traps. Not saying that's good or bad, just an interesting observation.
  15. Invincible? The Energon Universe? Valiant? Milestone? With how little we get, same. Seems like a bad choice to waste the few slots we have on a part of the franchise that's not exactly a fan-favorite.
  16. These all look SPECTACULAR. Easily the best wave in quite awhile. Even sets I wasn't expecting to have good builds, like the Surter set or battle pack. Only one I'm not a fan of is potted groot.
  17. Aw man I didn't realize these got delayed. Sad I have to wait an additional few months for Rex. Though ironically, that will make the august wave include clones in North America, so maybe people over here will stop complaining on instagram and the like. Same here- I'm kind of hoping all the sets with anniversary figs get revealed. I actually don't think this is true- this forum is a lot less of an echo chamber than some of the other areas I see, like the segments of instagram and youtube. Partially because there's no algorithm making people see more content based on the exact opinions clicked on, but also just empirically. We have a lot of older fans who were kids during the OT. We have fans who grew up with the prequels, and love the Clone Wars cartoon. We have people like me, who are younger adults but generally fans of the original trilogy (Though I also love the clone wars cartoon). We even have people who... well maybe aren't the biggest sequel fans, want some of the unique designs from the era. All those opinions CAN be found on other platforms, but they tend to bunch up, whereas here it's all one thread. (Plus, this thread has a wider age and no subscription/popularity aspect, which kind of removes the ability for a small number of people to dominate the broadcast opinions) MandR is a youtuber. He's made himself a public figure and has a large following. It's generally accepted that it opens you up to criticism. I wish.
  18. I clicked on ONE House Md video. One. Now whenever I finish a video- bam- House. I'm studying while listening to music, and all of the sudden there's no song, just House. It's not even a bad show, I just can't take this level of saturation. But anyway, yeah, I agree with the wider sentiment if you mean in terms of people with more than a couple hundred subscribers. But there are TONS of teenagers and pre-teens who have little 20-sub youtube channels up trying to emulate MandR. This is a guess, isn't it? They haven't actually told us which sets, or did they announce it? Not that the June sets aren't more or less a certainty, just checking to confirm they haven't said anything about which ones.
  19. I mean, assumably the batmobile is blue in both because the designers saw it as blue. I don't think the art set is a riddler clue that we're going to suddenly get Gotham modulars. That's the episode with that Man who transforms himself into a Bat, right? What would you call that? some sort of bat.... man.... or something?
  20. While they have definitely been repeatedly character assassinating Mary Jane since Peter's deal with the devil, I think it's probably a more blanket "we want our thing to be the one getting merchandise". Same reason X-men and fantastic four stuff was heavily discouraged after the MCU picked up.
  21. And funnily enough, Hasbro's May 4th livestreams are May 3rd and an as-of-yet unknown later date, assumably because they don't want their employees to work weekends. First of all, holy cow, are there actual people complaining that we get one (1) singular wave without clones? But second, I kind of feel like if there were other figs in the Young Leia set, we'd know. My money's on Wicket, I think.
  22. The dragon mech may be the first ninjago set over $20 I'll have gotten in almost a decade, since I was a kid. I think it's the most "UCS" a ninjago set's ever been (aside from the gardens but those are more like modulars). I'm still not entirely sold- Cole is my least favorite of the original four and this is already shaping up to be an expensive year between some of the larger SW sets and trying to grab Rivendell at some point, but that thing looks incredible. The Dune sword is an excellent touch too- it was one of the first things I thought when I held the part for the first time. If it has knees, I'm not sure I'll be able to resist getting it. Unless we get rumors of a Jay one next year, that is :).
  23. At that point might as well do everything- what else would it be, the X-wing/Tie set?
  24. I think the anniversary figure sets- Death Star, Skiff, Creature.
  25. You've seen that video too? "The record will be straight... heh heh heh heh heh... stay tuned" I wonder what 2025 holds for this theme. It assumably won't be mainly superman based- even with the movie, I can't see them doing more than 2-3 sets. The Batman 2 will likely also get a few sets, but that's an october film. I think we still may see a couple June sets, here are my guesses) A second wave of BTAS sets: Jonkler mech ($14.99, BTAS Jonkler), Buildable BTASman ($32.99), The Batwing ($64.99, BTAS Batman, BTAS Poison Ivy, BTAS Catwoman), UCS BTASmobile ($299.99, BTAS Batman, BTAS Robin) A wave of TDK sets (Jonkler Mech ($14.99, generic comic Jonkler), Buildable TDK Joker ($32.99), another Tumbler ($64.99 TDK Batman, TDK Bane, TDK Joker), UCS The Bat ($199.99, TDK Batman, TDK Catwoman)
