LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm not gonna lie I would have taken the ANAD helmet if we found out via Foggy replying to you with "ANAD Iron Man helmet" after it'd been said twice. But seriously, that is just about the worst case scenario for the helmet. You mean the one this summer and a night trooper one this january, or are you saying you want two mandoverse imperial BPs next year? Yup. Whether night troopers or standard stormtroopers, I'll be happy. -

If you bought them from a retailer in the past few years, they probably are! IIRC the line's got Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Sideswipe, a decepticon grunt, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Barricade, though I might be missing some- I mainly collect the smallest size class for space reasons and all the WFC game figures are deluxe or voyager size classes. Still waiting on bumblebee to leak... c'mon buddy, where are you? We're only a month out! -
This is one of the greatest physical mocs I've ever seen. When is Brickworld Chicago? I'm going to be working a few states away this summer but if this is there I might drive down if it's over the weekend.

I didn't even know that was him, I just saw instagram and youtube comments, but it makes sense. It's such a weirdly specific complaint for people to have, so it makes sense that a lot of it's sourced from MandR. I love it. It's glorious. And I say this as a guy who resells lego online. I personally only do my own collection, friends'/neighbors' stuff on commission, and bulk ebay lots I sort out to rebuild the sets from. But I don't begrudge the people who buy new sets and sell the figs and figless set/parts separately, so long as they aren't buying so many as to prevent people from buying the set directly from retailers. The prices tend to be pretty high, but it's providing another option. A $650 set for rex or $200 for rex alone isn't worse than just the first option, as no one's making you do the second. But that said, lego releasing the figure again is absolutely something they'd have to be ready for. It's an obvious risk of lego resale and you shouldn't get all butthurt when it happens. It's also a genius move by lego- they get the venator sales from people who feel they need to immediately have rex, then make him later availible to kids and adults who didn't want the venator and aren't going to drop $650 on a fig. They also said a few years ago they were gonna work towards not making as many figs/characters exclusive to super expensive sets, so it's not like this came out of nowhere. I remember I had a grand inquisitor up around the time the kenobi set with him released. I think the price dropped around $60, so I lowered it on my BL listing, and it sold awhile later (I always try to have the cheapest US price for any figs over a couple bucks so they'll sell fast). I didn't start screaming that lego was devaluing the figure. Hell, I've got a Thrawn in my collection right now that I think about selling pretty frequently, but I'm not mad about the new one. I feel that. I mean, if it's so light it could be shading in the comic (which again isn't neccesarily even what this figure was based on- a white armored vader isn't exactly the most unique place to take the idea of "good vader"), I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect printing on a helmet we've never had printing on before. (Also, it's not the only difference between the comic- which he's in like 2 panels in- and the lego figure. The lego figure has colored torso buttons.) Yeah, I would have been fine with a changed head too, but I love that it's the exact same figure so the scalpers burn. Venator Microfighter in January 2025? (Probably not but it'd be hilarious) I might be misremembering too, good if it is! Yeah, exactly. Even if the comic vader had blue lenses (I maintain it just looks like shading to me- and no one's arguing the forehead of his helmet should be LBG or there should be a gradient printed on his collar armor), this isn't the comic vader. Yup, in fact back when they leaked kintsugi was one of the first things referenced, to the point they were pretty frequently referred to as kintsugi troopers before the night trooper name was revealed. Man this'll be interesting. DON'T INVOKE THE NAME, YOU'LL MAKE IT REALITY I need that gif of Jesse from breaking bad screaming and crying against the car window. My beloved golden boy, the Roman Empire incarnate, my captain my captain, what are they going to do to you? -
It'd be a licensing nightmare- I'm not even sure how they'd work that out selling at least 3 different companies products under the same banner (and most likely 4 since there's no way Kirkman doesn't have a say on invincible merch), but since it's not happening anyway due to how mature it'd be, yeah, it'd be fun. I own the Firestar toys Unbeatable Adolescent. He's the only non-purist lego I own. I've got him and spidey wooshing past my daily bugle set in a recreation of the pose from the cover of their team-up issue. That would be cool, though I'd prefer a title card only CMF. Something like: 1. Invincible, 2. Atom Eve, 3. Omni-Man, 4. Angstron Levy (suit), 5. Allen the Alien, 6. Kregg, 7. Robot, 8. Immortal, 9. Dupli-Kate (With a microfig of shrinking Rae), 10. Cecil, 11. Debbie, 12. Rex, 13. Black Samson, 14. Lucan (with family feud dvd), 15. Donald, 16. Invincible (severe bloodstains and battle damage). Obviously if we did the comic instead of just the show, we'd have to change it up a lot- no spoilers, but we'd need freddy mercury, some other outfits for certain characters, etc- but I've gone off topic enough, even for this thread. Let Sam Raimi direct. Watch the box office explode. No, no, no. He's gonna need 4. The quad box. Ok, hear me out, he really needs 8 to get the full cube shape kept.

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't know. Stafford was clearly hinting that marvel said no to deadpool, but I don't think that's an indication that the lego group's executives would have greenlit the fig anyway- the list was supposedly 60-70 figures, so it was pretty clearly very far from a complete product. Lego designed, manufactured, and sent a set based on the Osprey to some stores. During this time period, some german group started complaining that the Osprey is only used by militaries (though Lego's particular model/markings were of a search and rescue one rather than a weaponized one). Lego pulled the entire set, which probably cost them a lot of money even with re-using the parts. I dunno about germany, but in america, I think the average parent would be more averse to lego making a deadpool figure than lego making a set based on a vehicle that isn't a weaponized version but still only used by militaries. That's true, but I still think it works against the character showing up anytime soon. This would have been THE SET to include him in. -

He really does, I'm gonna have to check his bricklink prices once the set's been out for awhile. Also, I'm so glad I haven't seen the "WhY aReN't HiS lEnSeS bLuE?" complaint here. Such a stupid complaint that really encapsulates my issue with the gripes about lego. People are acting like it's some massively important detail when we don't even know what the figure's based on- and the one white vader I have seen- from the infinities comic- has white lenses. It'd be like if I complained that the Rowan Freemaker figure didn't have dual-molded arms. I am very cautiously optimistic about the figure selection for this set. Thrawn and Ezra look perfect, and on one hand, that could mean the fig budget's been spent. On the other, with two exceptional figures already, what's to say the others can't be? Though my greatest hope for the figs, aside from a stellar Ahsoka the white, is that Morgan gets a nightsister face print. Not likely, but possible. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I think it is in this situation. A deadpool figure would immediately sell whatever set he was in to insane levels. More than even someone like Rex. They fact that they haven't yet would certainly imply that for whatever reason, they can't or don't want to. I think the real proof of this is if he doesn't show up in the X-mansion. That's by far the best opportunity for them to put him in- relates to a non-R-rated property he's been in (the 90s series), a big 18+ set, etc. It's also been Neither do I, and you are correct that lego can find loopholes around their morals. Realistically, it's not so much the morality as whether or not people will complain. But they cancelled a set that was already being sent to stores because a relatively small german group complained. If they put Deadpool in a set, it's not releasing. Not with him in it, at least. Yeah, I have to agree. Especially with a set like this, which is larger and will have been in production longer. I thought lego not having done something yet didn't mean they couldn't/wouldn't? Sorry- I saw the opportunity and I had to take it. To be honest, I have been wondering about that- it seems like a monumentally poor decision to re-use the same characters if they aren't the CMF versions- not that it wasn't for Wolverine in the X-jet- but like you said, lego really doesn't re-use figs between CMFs and non-CMF sets. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
Same for me. Lego Optimus was the first time I'd bought a transformer ever, the first transformer I'd had since I was around 5, and the first time I'd so much as thought about the franchise in almost a decade. It was basically a gateway drug for me- I watched the newest show at the time, Netflix's War for Cybertron series, while I was building, which got me into the older shows like Prime and watching ROTB when it released, then got into collecting the non-lego transformer figures. I think you're talking about '86 grimlock (In which case, I believe the SS86 repack did leak), but I could see Lego Grimlock in a year or two. We need some Cons first, but Grimlock was the second Robosen figure they did, so who knows? Transformers has two main toylines on shelves right now besides the super gimmicky toys meant for younger kids: Generations: The current iteration of the line, Legacy, is focused on previous versions of transformers, whether it's G1, other cartoons, or even the comics. Studio Series: This line is focused on studio-created works, such as the live action movies and the War for Cybertron video game. They recently started SS86, or Studio Series (1986 film), based on, well, the 1986 film. They are by far the best representations of the G1 characters currently available in mainline. There's also the masterpiece line, which is like the UCS line for lego star wars. Super well-done but expensive figures. Masterpiece might actually be over, it was kind of unclear. I've got Core Ironhide, and he's so much fun I got a second one during the "Every transformer is at least 30% off" target sale to make into a generic autobot, since the G1 core class skews decepticon. The Deku Tree is a september release, and that was revealed, so Bumblebee could literally be any day now. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
That was before the movies gave him the level of mainline popularity and general audience (and parents') view he now has as THE R-rated supehero. That was a PG-13 movie (And they STILL avoided direct tie ins) If that was true, they would already have done it. Again, also true, but lego isn't avoiding making him because of the character's morals. It's about the vulgarity of the content he's now most associated with. Lego's made nazis (albeit not titled as such) as recently as last year, because the set was based on a PG-13 movie. -
I gotta stop feeding this, but c'mon. You know this. Someone online saying batman returns is spooky doesn't make it R-rated. It wasn't spooky enough to avoid mcdonalds toys, and while there was backlash at the time it's not nearly as dark as The Batman or the Dark Knight Trilogy. We've been over this a billion times. The difference is the actual rating, not how mature someone thinks it is. Batman returns is PG-13. It can get sets. The Snyder cut is R. It can't. That's good to know- I suppose Asylum or City sets would be possible then. Still don't think they're all that likely- as much as the fans love the arkham games, they don't have the general adult appeal of the films. As for Knight though- that's a hard stop from lego. They don't do explicitly M, R, or TV-MA rated stuff willingly. The Arkham-based suit in the batmobile might be the closest we've gotten, but even then the logo, while pretty similar, doesn't say Arkham.

Dune 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Licensed
I posted after seeing the New Elementary article, but I've been having the same issue this past hour. The only new part I can see is Kynes's cape. It does say something to the effect of "sometime may 28th", so it might just not be up quite yet. -

And sorry for the double post, but dune parts have been added to pick a brick! the Atreides uniform torso, bene gesserit torso, and atreides armor torso have all been added, as well as Kynes's cape! I might pick up a cape to make mau'dib paul, as well as a couple atreides uniforms. These are better than nothing, but without the molded armor part the armor isn't as helpful, and what I really wanted to be on PAB, the stillsuits, don't seem to be there. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Dude we've had this conversation like 50 times. Sure, nothing's 100% impossible, but lego has never willingly made figures or sets based on a TV-MA or R property. Characters even remotely associated with the rating (Daredevil, Punisher, Blade) are relegated to 18+ sets and comic based variants. Deadpool is the very embodiment of vulgarity in superhero content, and his comic suit looks very similar to his movie suit. We've already seen the most they could do for deadpool in the past (because he's popular, so whatever their rules let them do, they'll do it), and that's comic-con exclusive figures that are clearly completely different variants of the character (sheriff, duck). With deadpool 3, a very r-rated movie, including deadpool variants, and comic-con figures gone, even that option's been lost. TLDR No -

I would really prefer they don't do this. I really like star wars movies to feel like big events, I don't want them to make them all that frequent. I think one a year was a mistake disney made that led to films like Solo receiving much less attention, and I thought the shows were a great way to tell stories in live action without diminishing the movies. As much as I'd love a few legends based sets, there's so much canon content for lego to try and juggle already. They already have trouble covering just the live-action saga films, to say nothing of the fact that the vast majority of new material isn't covered after a year or so past it's release. -

which ironically often get trailers years upon years before release. And the D2Cs specifically, because the more expensive a set is, the bigger discount the knockoff company can apply while still making a profit. Lego makes more profit off a $400 set than a $15 one, as would a knockoff company, so the knockoff companies try to ape more of the larger sets. -

I've seen comments saying that the guy who leaked it confirmed the legs were a placeholder, which makes sense considering he also used placeholder hair for Ezra, but I didn't see anything from the guy himself. I do assume that's correct though- they gave him his own arm printing, no way he re-uses legs. -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
First, thanks for the kind words on the lists- I had been wondering where you were with this thread flaring up again! 1. Completely agree, so long as they're alongside dioramas, not instead of them. Star Wars is developing a bad habit of creating and then quickly dropping new sublines, and the dioramas are excellent. 2. While difficult due to the increased amount of content, I agree. Whenever there are multiple sets in a year from the same battle, or that CAN be from the same battle, interactability should be a feature. 3. While it would be nice, I'm not going to "agree" here, just because with the amount of content, I completely understand why they're having so much trouble getting more niche stuff out there. I'd love more niche ships- but not at the expense of kids being able to buy their x-wings and ties and jedi starfighters. I think the solution is to simply put out more sets. 4. Totally. This brand is massive- and this'll tie into 3- it can afford to produce more sets in general. A good way to do this would be to- while keeping the new may wave of 18+ sets- start up a january wave, and get rid of the weird little march wave with like 3 sets. 5. Yeah, totally agree. For something like the X-wing, when it gets too big, it makes sense to scale it back (2018 to 2021). But the star destroyer should only be made smaller if you're trying to make it more affordable- and they clearly didn't have affordability as a priority with the new one. 6. A lot of this is subjective, but lego's notorious inability to print lighter colors on parts isn't. Fox's torso, all batman and captain america heads, etc. It's a company large enough to afford using a tiny bit more ink on each torso. 7. I actually disagree. Sets should be a good quality, yeah, but things aimed at kids are for kids. They're not supposed to be Hot Toys levels of detailing. 8. I agree, but feel like this sort of cuts into some of your earlier points. Lego can't make all their sets 18+ quality, large amounts of highly detailed minifigs, playability/functionality, and larger than previous ones without drastically increasing the prices. And ironically, my biggest issue with lego right now is that the sets are prohibitively expensive. -

I thought the part count was a big enough jump from the previous sets that it implied it just was larger/came with a large sarlacc as mentioned, alongside the what, 7 total figs? That said, I hope the piece count is like 50% towards the sarlacc. If most of it's the skiff, it'll feel oversized, and we've never had a sarlacc build over ~100 pieces before to my knowledge. -
No, he's human. The AI this forum gets hit with usually has a malignant purpose, won't say anything negative, and is pretty rudimentary speech-wise. (The star wars threads on the forum gets hit every few months with some random replies to posts, containing an AI paragraph trying to jump from star wars- star wars games - gaming -gambling- a link to a gambling website that's probably also going to give you a virus if you click it. Sometimes the bot accounts will respond to eachother too.) The attention to detail is something truly incredible, you're right. Someone less committed wouldn't have added that film in. For all the jokes with turtle, he does keep the discussion going, which is nice when the theme itself has a foot in the grave.
