LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

1984... transformers releases... shattered glass.... inverted character alignments (including a comic relief character becoming a hardcore bounty hunter).... it all fits! Honestly no clue. Most likely it's just something that hasn't yet been revealed to us. Completely agree, this is really disappointing. I'm fine with the inverted characters in the inverted sets, even siller ones like beach luke and darth jar jar, but THREE of these figures are new original characters... pretty annoying. Not to mention the fact that I don't believe the X-TIE should have ANY non-canon figs- just advertise swapping the parts around or something... 100% agree. I agree the falcon is generally not terrible, though I don't really like that it's beach luke and darth origional content. Would have preferred Darth Luke and Jedi Master Palpatine or something. Suggested list: Darth Jar Jar, Darth Rey, Evil C-3PO, Darth Luke, Jedi Master Palpatine, White Vader X-TIE is the worst offender. At bare minimum, 40% of the fig count is original characters. And I don't have much confidence in that Rebel Pilot being someone canon. Suggested list: Ideally, something canon like Biggs, Wedge, Pilot Luke, TIE Pilot, R2-D2. But if we have to do the memes: Rebel Friend, Beach Trooper, Jek Porkins, Beach TIE Pilot, Evil R2-D2. Jedi Bob: The worst part of this is just a $40 set having two figs. Really no way to critique the rest of it without knowing the second fig, though. Oh, and I LOVE Shattered Glass. Crossing my fingers so hard that I'll be able to find a good deal on SG starscream and soundwave somewhere. And there's even precedent for this in star wars! Battlefront 4's original concept art (for those who don't know, battlefront 3 was basically done and they'd started early development on 4 when the plug was pulled) had a variety of light side villains and dark side heroes. I never understood what this would have even been without making him look waaaaaay to similar to black krrsantan. All in all, pretty disappointed with the figure lineup, once again. First the Star Destroyer gets removed from my buy list (though admittedly that's just as much the build as the figs), next the X-Tie. Really hoping the skiff doesn't suddenly lose 20% size or drop half it's figs. -

I know this is just a "the multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little" style "things are randomly different" type multiverse, but I would love to see a lore reason for this sort of imperial alliance that uses P1 clones and has rebel command on it's side. Should have clarified- 25th anniversary figures. Was Luke ever teased? I thought the leak said something like Evil C-3PO, Evil Chewie, Evil Rey, Light Side Vader, blue armored gungan (Darth jar jar with what looks to be a sand blue torso), and 1-2 other figures. Fun fact: Jedi Bob is voiced by a guy named Bob (Bobby Moynihan), who's a documented fan of star wars. Though unfortunately the synopsis and cast list confirm FOUR original characters (Though I do appreciate that the main guy's last name is Greebling, that's fun) in the main cast. I don't really care what happens in the special, but that is pretty concerning regarding the figures in the sets. I don't want this to be a freemaker adventures situation where the majority of minifigs aren't canon. -

No, you're right (Some of the figs still look yellow to me, but it's not as obvious as I remembered). Could have sworn it was the other way around. Bob seems to have updated printing in the trailer- sort of benny-like scuff marks on his beard- but I don't think that says anything about the figure. Oh, I see. You're talking about the single plate of thickness that would be exposed towards the end of the wing on the underside. I would still 100% consider "gaping hole" hyperbole, but sure, to each his own. (also, how are you removing the spring loaded shooter piece but still having a "glaring spring loaded shooter piece"? Are you planning on putting it elsewhere on the set?) And Nien. You bring up a good point. -

I hope the trailer means set reveals are imminent because this is also something I need to know. These all being based on the new show means the anniversary figures are exclusively in skywalker saga sets, and also means that every skywalker saga set after the january ones has an anniversary fig, (excluding gimmicks and 18+ sublines). Which does make me wonder why R2 and young leia- if it's a creature- have one but C-3PO and the droidika don't. .... you remove the piece too, not just the ammo. (I also enjoy the hyperbole of a bar-sized hole as a "gaping hole") If anything on this it looks like you'd just end up with wings more similar to the top wings. -
Are you really still trying to argue this? The proof is in the sets themselves. They are, say it with me now, children's toys. That's what they're marketed as, that's why they have play features, that's why the boxes say things like ages 6-12. If enough of the sales were adults, they'd assumably change the sets/packaging to do so, like they've already done for the 18+ sets. But the lego brand is, again, say it with me, a children's toy brand. These are plastic toys for kids. It doesn't mean there can't be quality issues that they should solve. It doesn't mean the amount of adults that buy them is completely insignificant- again, 18+ sets are a thing. But you can't pretend that lego isn't a children's toy brand because it quite literally is. Also, this is a pretty easy one to just get some personal relative data on. I don't know about you, but just about every kid I interact with (family, friends' kids, students, etc) owns some lego sets. With adults, I'd say about 1 in 6 college students I know owns a couple sets, and maybe 1 in 20 or so actively collects. As the age goes up, the proportion that collect lego goes down. Now, this is just my personal experience, but being a lego collector myself I'd say it's biased in favor of lego collection in adults- I'm likely to be friends with people similar to me, hence the amount of people I know who collect lego is larger than average.

Don't let them start that. And I changed my mind- worst case scenario is that they make the X-wing and TIE set come with mainly clones. I can't imagine all the crying about how lego is "forcing" them to buy a $110 OT set, not to mention the fact that any OT fans would get a set with completely unrelated figures. (Fives was fine- he's an anniversary figure. P1 clones occupying an X-wing and TIE set is different) Yes. I mean look at that shot- it's very clear that the ship present is a combination of an X-wing lego model and a TIE lego model, given how rough and modular it looks at the blend between them. Not to mention we've known about this swapping gimmick long before this trailer. (Also, that is NOT a $110 set. I know lego's prices have gotten bad recently, but c'mon) The starfighter allegedly has two figs, so it's entirely possible it has both. To be fair, these are pretty harmless. If you don't like 'em, just remove 'em, and they aren't as integrated into the build as many other ships are with their spring shooters. But he left some yellow IIRC, and I don't think he updated the detailing much like he did Bob. -

I would grumble but still potentially buy the set if it was something like: Pilot Luke, Black-suited X-wing pilot (Purist custom Jaina inbound), TIE Pilot, white-armored TIE Pilot, R2, black-and-red R2, and then let's say a stormtrooper and rebel stormtrooper or something. But if it's only 4-5 figs and one of those is a droid, I'd be disappointed, not to mention if they throw in those new original characters. IMO this set, since it assumably will be able to look like a normal X-wing and tie, should include figures that look normal. Let the parts be swapped around or something but otherwise I think it should include normal figs. -
I'm gonna be honest- I've been very skeptical about this film, but I like the suit. This is clearly an image where it's taken a bit of battle damage- the logo seems scorched a bit- but I like the logo, color, and style. It looks Kryptonian. Ironically, it also looks to attach similarly to Thor and Loki's capes, meaning regardless of lego's plans regarding cloth vs rubber capes, superman'll probably use their new rubber cape.

You seem to be missing a fairly important fact- it was the same mold from 2001-2019. They only changed the print. And I highly doubt a different print would get you on board. I think you jinxed it. I'm deeply concerned about those figures now, especially with lego throwing in some random original characters as well. (Why not just more altered versions of existing characters? Why not past lego originals like they're doing with jedi bob? people would have gone nuts for a jek-14, and an older Rowan could have been cool). I'm ok with Jedi Bob's fighter including one of the origional characters, but I hope the Dark Falcon is mainly swapped versions of existing ones, and I REALLY hope that X-wing vs tie set has normal figs. Interestingly, Bob appears to be the 2002 figure, complete with yellow skin, unlike the one shown in the poster. I wonder if the set's two figures are both bobs? (That said, apparently the leaked figures of a set don't mean anything- I think we're at roughly 50% of the august sets having figure counts/characters different than what leaked. Just a recolored 2017 falcon. -

I thought the three rebels three stormtrooper thing was the rumor for the set that was formerly just known as like "anniversary set" that comes with R2-KT? If it is what you said, my R2-KT set prediction is way off- I did but now I'm gonna pretend I didn't. All I'm going to hope for right now is that there's a second red squadron pilot. It would be wonderful if it was a new Biggs, or even a Wedge or Porkins with a unique face, but so long as it's a member of Red Squadron I'll be happy. Edit: Anyone else confused by the advent calander? It feels like being 24 years of star wars, and them saying the gifts represented each year or something, it'd be one build per year with one exception. There is some support for this- Obviously the X-wing is '99 and the TIE is '01, Palp's shuttle is 2010, the jedi shuttle is 2011, sail barge is 2013, etc. Luke and Leia can be fill-ins for any year. But the praetorian and the YJA red ship are both 2024, which means it's not one per year? -

Ah, that makes more sense. I'm sorry, the WHAT? I really don't get why we couldn't get two stormies/two navy troopers/etc. It feels like we used to always get two of a kind for larger sets- or three in some more recent ones! Though this does seemingly disprove the Tarkin interpretation of the 1984 hint, unless he's in the death star vs tie set. And Tarkin and Veers (in multiple outfits!) have both been in non-UCS sets in the last decade. I know you're not the only person who feels this way (And I prefer the old helmets too, I just don't care much overall), but lego's not going back. It's unrealistic to expect upcoming sets to revert to the old helmet, the 2019 mold is here to stay. It's been half a decade. -

I think you might be reading too much into that. For one thing, the Death Star Trooper is also frequently known as an Imperial Navy Trooper- they aren't unique to the death star by any means. (Neither is the gunner, I suppose). I assume both are simply there as imperial characters- the 2014 star destroyer had the "death star army trooper", or the navy trooper as he is also called. -

Is the Onyx Cinder still coming in August? I feel like we usually don't get sets that long before the release of a show, and unless I've missed something, skeleton crew is going to be christmas 2024 at the earliest. I don't think it's all that unlikely that lego has been lowering the figure counts on some sets in between prelims and finalized images. -

was this referencing Dane Jir being in the set? Honestly, not a fan at all of the Cal fig here. The face doesn't really even look like him IMO. I MIGHT bricklink the torso in a year or two, but honestly I'm fine with my current custom and Survivor custom. This fig wasn't as good as it could have been at all... Yeah, not worth the upgrade from the 2014 model IMO. Really disappointed by this set, but it saves me $160. The destroyer is alright, but not 10-years-after-the-last-one alright. I'm also trying to ignore the lowered figure count from the leak, because that's not the set's fault, but six fairly generic figs in a set of this nature is pretty tough, especially when this is by far the weakest anniversary fig in terms of design. -
This is the irrevocable proof I needed, everyone. He's playing us. No one can say that with a straight face. I don't like Teen Titans GO!, I think it's a pretty bad show, but to give it SOME credit, it's the only moderately successful DC cartoon put out in the past decade among actual kids. It's brainrot style manages to get some views, and if it can draw kids into the DC universe, I can tolerate it.... so long as we get some actual quality cartoons alongside it. Which saying that, it continues to amaze me how little Teen Titans content we get from Lego. You think they'd be pumping out TT set after TT set since, like I said, it's the only popular DC kids cartoon ATM, but nothing.

Our boy I can't find it but I had this meme after the ahsoka show that came out that was a picture of thrawn and it said: -
For Duel of the Fates, how generous are we being with that 100 part count not including parts to "kit out your figures?" For instance, I'm planning on doing a duel similar to how force master battles were described in the Thrawn Trilogy- these massive shows of whirling energy. Would a brick construct for a blast of energy or lightning coming out of the figure's hand not count towards the 100 parts? Would a swirl of energy around the figure's feet count, or transparent parts to launch them into the sky? I'm assuming Yes, No, and No respectively, but I figure I should ask to make sure.

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
To be fair, that was a $50 set with only two actual minifigs, one of whom was wholly re-used, and lego star wars also heavily outsells marvel. Lego Star Wars is to Lego Marvel as Lego Marvel is to Lego DC, just without all the jonkling. -
I think realistically these would all have some form of bat-vehicle in them- for any non-SW theme, lego seems to think hero vehicles sell better than villain ones (and they might totally be right, I don't have the sales numbers, but I just feel like people would want villain vehicles to fight the hero ones), but other than that I totally agree. How about Batman (tm) on the Bat-glider with GCPD Detective Renee Montoya versus Poison Ivy (tm) and her Poison Ivy Automorbile I really need to know why Arsenal fans call themselves that. Did it start before the word attained it's newer meaning? Is it a purposeful joke? Are they stupid? That's a weird way to spell soccer (I say, not at all a fan of the sport in either country, on a forum literally named eurobricks)

1 is cal, 2 is leia, 3 is (apparently) nien- not sure how I didn't get that- and 4 is R2-KT, I guess? Has to be- thanks for unraveling the Nien clue by the way. I got it from process of elimination but didn't realize the nien-nine thing until your comment. Interesting that the answer during all the "why have more than 6 anniversary figs been rumored" thing is that lego just straight up had more than six. Was KT a late development? -
Can't wait for the arc where he discovers the lego batman video games and defeats mister freeze (who, as we all know, was canonically defeated by "gamers" in an official batman comic.) I will not tolerate this disrespect on the legend of the bionicle. One of the few times I've actually laughed out loud at a eurobricks comment instead of just thinking "heh".

Completely agree with all of this. Yavin is the only SW set I've seen on sale this soon after release- it's been on clearance at my Walmart for half a year now and I'm just waiting to see if it gets below $100. Only other SW sets I've ever seen on sale here are the AT-TE for $110 in January (and then they put the price back at $140 for the remaining copies immediately after I purchased mine) and the 332nd pack (Price set to $15 at release, so I don't count it because that makes me think an employee just didn't realize lego marked up the price.) I know the Justifier hit some pretty bad sales, but I feel like it took longer than this, at least around me. -
Lego Real Steel when? (How has it taken me that long to come up with that joke) My favorite spider-man villain The fact that there are literally zero benefits to this torso is so odd. Why would they go through the effort to make a new print? What benefit does this provide to anyone? Lego spends more money, and I doubt that torso is going to net them more than a double-digit number of new sales. I'm sure you'll have more opportunities, this theme isn't going to have a quality increase anytime soon. I think you might have to stop expecting consistency from our shelled friend here. The general batman premise seems to be the only throughline, much like this theme as a whole.
