  1. Yes, please :-) I am also puzzle about the 42109 R-Car Licenced RC Car (1HY Flagship). With only 463 pieces, I can't be bigger than the 42093 Corvette (579 pieces). Maybe an old Audi Quattro Rally Car? I mean TLG used older car types for Creator Expert series, why not for Technic? In my opinion, a RC Racing car like a Porsche with just steering & acceleration would be a little bit boring...
  2. Ok second half will be way more interesting :D
  3. Actually... I hate it... because it looks so much better than my attempt and is already nearly finished Just for even better colour uniformity, part 15100 and the shock absorbers are available in white (but are rarer than the current colors used).
  4. Just counted the teeth... 44 on the planetary, 10 on the sun gear. So we really got 1:4.4, not 1:5 as mostly stated :-)
  5. Just a related topic: Yesterdays update of stud.io didn't bring in the new parts from the 42099, does anyone know how long it takes normally that new parts to be integrated in stud.io? I am aware of the manual implementation of parts, but for higher convenience, I hardly use it, as they aren't linked to actual bricklink parts and therefor the easy-buy option gets lost... The concerning parts are: - 52730 - bb961c01 - 39793 - 46490c01 - 52731 - bb959c01 - bb960c01
  6. In my opinion, this thing turns and drives quite fast (just look at the video from agrof above on this page). The movement of the arm on the other hand is a little bit slow, because of the use of the linear actuators. I think Michael Kossmann did a very good job here. I'm really looking forward to this model, so I'm with Bartybum.
  7. I really like the look (except the wheels :-D)! That's really reminiscent to the 8880, 8448 and other models before 2005, where more and more panels were used :-)
  8. Ah, thank you! I just looked for the parts list in the 42099 ("Item Consists Of") , which is still missing. Ok on brickmerge, there are some shops with already 30% off the model... hmm...
  9. Just regarding the 42099: Does anyone know, when the single parts are available on bricklink and also stud.io?
  10. Again great build! Strangely I thought at first glance, that the proportions of the cabin are wrong, but its really that tiny in reality^^ As I am currently working on a Liebherr T264 dump truck myself, I also struggle if I should buy the 42099 just for the planetary gear hubs and the motors...
  11. It actually moves faster than I previously thought. The turning of the upper structure as well as the base seems also quite nice, good weight distribution right there :-) Give it a 30% discount we are talking :-D
  12. I think Ngoc Nguyen refers to the longer section connected with the main body. But in the backhoe config, both arm sections are way thinner. It can be seen, as the upper hydraulic cylinder mountings on this 'long' arm section are attached outside of the arm in contrast to the face-showel, where the mountings are directly below the arm. In the 42100 face-showel, i counted a width of 11 to 15 studs of the arm, for the backhoe you should only need like 7...9 studs, just look at the first pic in the Liebherr manual: https://www.liebherr.com/external/products/products-assets/605101/NTB_R9800_enGB-US.pdf
  13. In this gear configuration, you don't have any advantage compared to the normal portal axles. You go in with 3:1 ration (24:8 tooth gears) and then convert back 1:5 (internal planetary gearbox) resulting in 1:1.667. The exact same ratio can be done by using normal portal axles with a 20 and 12 tooth gear. As already mentioned, you need a sturdier design, also don't forget the friction between the gears.
  14. This is just insanely good... I tried to improve the 42079 and am now just drooling at the level of precision here...
  15. I know, thats why I said: "Apart from steering..." ;-) But this kind of crab steering (although with just 4 wheels) has been done with the 42054. It's way more complicated with more axles because the turning angle of each one is a little different though...
  16. Apart from the steering (which is very complicated indeed), you can see exactly the limitations of lego in this very model: It needs the old full rubber tires to withstand the pressure according to the whole weight of this behemoth. Even as a fan of big sets like the upcoming 42100, models like this crane you showed (part counts 10.000++) will never be released as a regular 'play' set. Back to topic: I hope for some sort of "Technic Classics" sets. I don't mean a new interpretation of old sets but more like a steam roller or a old 3-wheeled tractors. These types of machinery are more bare-boned and mechanics are way more visible compared to modern vehicles. TLG can repeat that Lego is just for kids, but they know for sure the financial power of AFOLs.
  17. Out of the 25 sets available one the TLG webpage right now (product range from 2017 to 2019) and excluded the 4 pullbacks (which imho are technic cars) we still have the following cars: - 42077 Rallycar - 42083 Bugatti - 42098 Corvette - 42096 Porsche RSR - (42098: one car included) - (42099: Still a car though) Every six months, at least one cars have been introduced, making two every year. For the new 1H 2020 (list according to the post on second page of this thread) I've highlited the imho certain and possible cars we have: - 42101 Buggy 117 pieces - 42102 Mini Claas Xerion 130 pieces - (42103 Dragster 225 pieces --> Pullback) - (42104 Race Truck 227 pieces --> Pullback) - 42105 [Boat] 404 pieces - 42106 Stunt show truck & bike 610 pieces - 42107 [2w] - 42108 Mobile crane 1292 pieces - 42109 TBD R-car 463 pieces - 42111 [Entertainer] - 42115 [Ultimate] Even the stunt show truck and possible the 2w (bike) are not really technic models but more on the speedy side. We are certainly not short on cars... please more real technic sets more functions than steering and movable pins as cylinders...
  18. Actually, I am. As already mentioned in this thread, they could at least use the backhoe configuration for the b-model. No change in the whole main structure needed (like the b-model for 42082). Nearly no change in the App needed, same actuators used. The bucket just has to be turned around and the backside completed with the already present panels in dark bluish gray. This surely will be one of the first mod somebody will do (not me :-D ).
  19. Actually I don't know what to think about this set. As said by Aventador: Finally, we have what feels like a good steady stream of construction machines within the Technic program again! But on the other side, this just doesn't feel like a original Lego set. More like a moc with a very this flimsy/weedy/wobbly design as already mentioned, although the lifting arm is a direct copy of the 42082 design, which makes it even stranger... They say the test everything with children (10+ years of age). Surely somebody would have commented: "Shouldn't a crane be more stable?" Actually both models look like B-models of a somewhat better A-model which just hadn't passed quality control. Has anyone already done the "How much can it lift?"-test?
  20. As given on the Lego website: 5” display or larger <-- I hope this is a recommendation, not a requirement...? Sony Xperia Z3 compact-user here....
  21. Oh man, you are right... I just confused with tractor pulling .... nevermind...
  22. Just a though about the tractor wheels: Maybe if the 42102 Mini Claas Xerion will have them, also the 42103 Dragster (225 pieces) will use them?
  23. Hmm sadly, this seems right looking at the MOCs with VSP. But TLG did have sets with seaworthy hulls, although many years ago. Still I hope they really try to create something innovative in contrast to the typical 2 pullback cars every two years, 2+ racing cars of some type and 1 helicopter/jet every year. On the other side, maybe only my adult mind speaking here...
  24. Just wishful thinking, but maybe with the 42105 (404 pieces) we get a boat with a little more functions. I'd really hope they try to recreate the Voith-Schneider propellor in some sort of tugboat. IMHO most 'normal' boats don't really have interesting functions for a technic model, so there really is a need for something like additional cranes (42064).
