42111 - Fast & Furious car
Jundis replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very good point. I am a big fan of the Charger as in my opinion it is the best meanest muscle car of them all, I am not looking forward to this from a technical point of view. I think we can expect a fake V8 engine similar to the 42097, steering and openable bonnet, back and doors. This should be a creator expert set in my opinion, not technic. -

@jorgeopesi Do you still work on your Broyt D1000? Would be nice to see this one :-) -
Generic machinery
Jundis replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@jorgeopesi The cabin has been the biggest problem? :D Jokes aside, really nice model! I really like your solution of the cabin with steering links, this just give the perfect shape without many parts. There are however two things I find strange: Is this 5 studs thick arm (and thus the 5x7 frame) really needed for stability? The other thing is just for the looks: There is a big hole in the backend floor next to the engine, maybe use some panels to cover this? -
That’s precisely the model I had in mind. It’s slow and sways around a rather large amount. I am sided with @Bartybum on this on. This model really is beyond the limits of what Lego (or better say plastic bricks&pieces) can do. When it comes to technic, TLC really decides for more rigid and playable models instead of putting as many functions in but lacking stability. And if we really see it from their standpoint of selling sturdy models to children to play with but also look nice, they find a good balance in most big models in recent years (42043, 42054, 42055, 42078, 42082, 42100). Back to 42114: I hope this thing is not that slow, it should be at least as fast as the 42070, the steering angle is tight and the tipping doesn't take ages.

Why not buy the XLs on Bricklink? Or order them from Lego for 9,60€ each? :-)

If the functions are exactly the same (tipping, steering, driving), I don't see a problem here to not implement a B-Model.

Was just about to say that! :D Yep! Why a slightly more rusty look, this would be even better! -
[App] [iOS, Android] Controlz
Jundis replied to _Ozzee_'s topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This one is important I think. Sometimes, you need to write a message or take a foto of a moc while using the App. Would be handy that you don't have to reconnect again afterwards. BTW: It is really great that you are collecting input :-) -
[MOC] Liebherr T264
Jundis replied to Jundis's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That really helped, thanks :-) As I can see from your video, the acceleration and speed on mine is nearly identical. My MOC mostly struggles with tight corners as it seems to drive a little "bumpy" now and then. Maybe I'll try the new diff and see if it helps as the gearing is reduced a little bit. Just ordered from TLC -

Thank you :-) Next model in plan is a grader... coming in a half year .... :D @jorgeopesi Can you weight your dumper? I am just curious... if I could start again, I would use two XLs for driving. -

Thank you :-) Thanks! As I don't have that much time on my hand, I didn't thought about to make instructions, yet. I have the .io version of it though, I don't use LDD. Oh that never occured to me, thanks! :-D -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Jundis replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yep! I am curious about the scale, though. For 99€, it should be in between the 42093 and 42096. Even if it sounds a bit strange at first, maybe these could be used as the rear tires (from the new batmobile) while having smaller front tires (from Arocs). -
[MOC] Liebherr T264
Jundis posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi guys, yeah I know, I am late showing a MOC of a dumper truck, as both Effermann and jorgeopesi both did excellent jobs! I started with this MOC of the Liebherr T264 in july but couldn't keep up with their pace... In contrast to their more playable MOCs, I tried to stay closer to the design of the 42100 while maintaining all the main functions of the original dumper truck. The T264, as it is the little brother of the bigger T282/284, has been chosen because of the better suited scale of the 94.3x38R tires. The three main functions are driving, steering and tipping. All are controlled by Ozzees ControlZ, which works like a treat. The MOC is driven by a PU XL-motor, steering is done by an PU L-Motor. The two pneumatic pumps and the switch are both driven by one PU M-motor using the ingenius idea of Sariel for the compressor/valve combination. Overall I really tried to stay as close to the original look and functions as possible. The rear suspension is a live axle guided by a center pin and sprung by two hard shock absorber. The steering has an Ackermann geometry and a very narrow turning radius. I am not really satisfied with the placement of the steering rack in front of the wheels as the connections seem a bit too flimsy for this big model (1620 pieces, slightly over 2 kg). Although I tried different configurations, I couldn't find a better solution of the placement. Two hard shock absorbers on each wheel manage the weight very well and bouncy :-). The PU-hub is placed in the easily accesable front section. I added some more little technic features, as both cabin doors can be opened and the little ladder can be lowered. And finally, here with the reason why I build this MOC :-) -
Axle Collection Thread

This suspension looks good, I like it :-) I can imagine it to be used for flatbad-trucks.where you need a small silhouette and ground clearance is not that of an issue. -
Maybe that is the reason they had to make the cabin bigger just to fit in the hub?

Overall I kinda like it. The fenders seem to have a thin black stripe print. They really used bevel gears for the LAs, whicht seems a little bit odd, but maybe was the only solution...

Same thing crossed my mind. But it could be done with CV-joints, I think. The inner angle should be above 120°, then they'll work nicely. On the tipper, ball-joints would do.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion

Did they state that? I just read "a model"... Ok we don't have a Liebherr R9800 or aDefender, lik 2H19 but I am quite pleased with the line-up so far. But let's wait for the first pics :-) -
Yep, would be really sad to just see swing axles... @jrx : Did you see any suspension, springs or so on? Thanks for all the info btw! :-)

Sadly no, this tire isn't implemented in stud.io... But I guess it would touch the fender.

Did a quick test in stud.io and the 94.3 x 38R fits quite well...
