LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
The_Chosen_1 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
So by that logic, the Superheroes line is "pretty lame and very disappointing"? It's totally dependent on point of view. I appreciate the fact that Lego is giving us a good variety of sets and covering a lot of bases with these first few waves. For all we know, the theme could be doing extremely well and will stick around for another 3-4 years (leaving plenty of time for battle packs and army building). I don't know what people's expectations are with this theme, but I'd hold off on casting judgment until we're able to look back at the theme as a whole.- 7,499 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
The_Chosen_1 replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Luke already comes in 9496, which will still be on store shelves by the time the Sail Barge hits. Putting the same minifig in both sets isn't a good way to cross-sell products. -

I love that we're getting some obscure characters that I wasn't sure we'd ever see in minifig form (e.g., Mouth of Sauron, King of the Dead, Corsairs). I think it bodes well for the line's future.- 7,499 replies

There are definitely reddish orange leaves there. I can't tell if they're the same color as those in the Mirkwood Spiders set, or if they're a bit lighter than that.- 7,499 replies

The third minifig from the left looks like Ree-Yees to me, not Luke. -

Thank you for sharing, General Magma! These all look fantastic!! My only complaint is that there are only 4 sets. Surely there must be more...?- 7,499 replies

Good review! On the whole, I think this is a pretty decent set. Yeah, we've had our fair share of snowspeeders over the years, but another one won't hurt. Plus, the harpoon is a definite improvement. The real highlights of the set are the General Rieekan and Luke minifigs.

No picture here, but that's a great idea. I might have to Bricklink the pieces to do that. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

^^ Completely agree. Although I have a feeling that Lego has something up their sleeves. I think one of the reasons 10188 has stayed around for so long is so that Lego can determine what the next big UCS playset will be. Whether or not we get something new this year remains to be seen. -

I agree; I thought for sure we'd hear news about a Geonosis Arena set. In the meantime, it remains on my wanted list... -

The Mouth of Sauron minifig looks amazing! I'm crossing my fingers that it finds its way into the Black Gate set. It would probably be the one and only chance for it to be made (unless it was released as as promo, of course).- 7,499 replies

Hm....March seems like an unusual time to get a new wave. Does that mean that we won't see another Middle-earth wave until the next Hobbit one (likely December 2013)?- 7,499 replies

True, but I'm not about to complain. It's something that I would never have thought would be made as a set.- 7,499 replies

Just a heads up for those in the U.S., Amazon currently has the Goblin King Battle for a shockingly low $71.47 (29% off!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009TCYK2E/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p21_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1NNMMTSJVHFAATB0TRCN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846

I can definitely see that; it's currently out of stock on both S@H and Amazon. And when I was at Target yesterday, all of their Hobbit and LotR sets were sold out, save for one copy each of "Riddles for the Ring", "Goblin King Battle", and "Shelob Attacks". Hopefully this means that the sets have been hot sellers for Christmas.- 7,499 replies

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine

I'm extremely excited about the BTTF DeLorean, that's for sure! Like many, Iactually thought it had the smallest chance of passing the review process, so this is a very pleasant surprise. I'll most likely buy two of them. -
Wow.....these sets look amazing!!!

I love all of the minifigures in the Battle of Hoth set! -
Technically the Magneto minifig isn't based on McKellen's likeness, since it's not based on the films. He sure seems to appreciate his Gandalf minifig, though!
-
That's just one of his ideas for a set. It would be cool to see, though!
-
It sure could. That might be a great opportunity for Lego to use a similar mold to make two very desirable characters.
-
The film does make reference to Thorin's age, if you pay close attention. I think we can assume that dwarves, like the Dunedain, age rather slowly and don't show the physical effects of age quite as rapidly.

This thread is awesome? These sets are awesome? This show is awesome? I think we need to elaborate a little here...

I agree, the Asteroid Belt just seems off. Coruscant does look fantastic though!
