LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
The_Chosen_1 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself there. But it is a good sign that Lego is willing to test the waters with large D2C Lord of the Rings sets.- 7,499 replies

I'm hoping for the latter; I feel that there could easily be an "Ent Attack" set that would act as an add-on, leaving more room for minfigures with Orthanc.- 7,499 replies

I agree, Fives. It looks like part of a larger catalog page. In a lot of my Lego catalogs, UCS sets have a "main" image, with a smaller image like this that shows dimensions. Seems pretty legit to me! (And it would explain why we're only getting 4 sets in the main wave).- 7,499 replies

Is there any way we could get some "official" word as to how the theme is selling? It would definitely ease a lot of our concerns...- 7,499 replies

I completely agree!!! Jurassic Park is one of my few favorite franchises that hasn't yet been made as a full-fledged Lego theme. I'm definitely crossing my fingers that we'll see one for Jurassic Park IV.

Welcome to Eurobricks! It sounds like you've already got a head start on one of the best licensed themes out there (LotR/Hobbit). I love hearing how that theme has brought so many new fans into the hobby. I agree with Teardrop, you can't go wrong with the Superheroes theme. I'd say that the DC sets are currently my favorite - especially the new Arkham Asylum set.

Jackattack7, the building instructions should be up on Lego.com soon as well. -

Those eagles look pretty good! A bit undersized, perhaps, but the look is spot-on.- 7,499 replies

I have to agree with dwarf-brik on this. There are better ways to go about army building, especially for a minifigure that's currently in production.

This won't happen. The hunt for Gollum actually takes place during the events of Fellowship of the Ring. In the novels, there is a long gap (14 years I believe) between Bilbo's birthday party and Frodo setting off on his journey; it's during this period that Gandalf tasks Aragorn with finding Gollum. All of this was omitted in the film version, though, and won't be portrayed in the Hobbit films.- 7,499 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

I'm pretty sure the 'mystery minifigure' in the Sail Barge will be Ree-Yees. The shape of the head in the preliminary pic gives it away to me, along with the relative length of the minifigure name compared to the others in the lineup. And don't forget that Ree-Yees was included in the preliminary pics of the Jabba's Palace set, which means that the minifig has already been developed to some degree. -

I didn't realize that these sets are so similar to their appearance in the game. I guess it's safe to say that the game acts as a good jumping-off point for what future sets might look like.- 7,499 replies

Just because the sets aren't widely available yet doesn't mean they're sold out. There's a big difference. But I agree, I think the Lair will be one of the more popular sets from the first wave. Spongebob sets have taken breaks, right?
-
If Spongebob can get several years worth of sets, I think TMNT can... Besides, the show itself is very popular and the toys were hot sellers this holiday season. I'm not sure why Lego didn't try to time their release for the holiday shopping season, but I'm sure they'll sell well regardless. I hope we get a second wave, if only to cover upcoming characters on the show like Leatherhead and Casey Jones.

That's definitely an arguable point, since there are many characters that some might see as "essential" (myself included) that haven't been made yet: Eowyn, Faramir, Old Bilbo, Wormtongue, Treebeard... just to name a few.- 7,499 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
The_Chosen_1 replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
^ If you read my post, I was referring to the front of the Sail Barge. There seems to be a lot of complaining about that, when in actuality it's more movie-accurate than the first version was. When it comes to the rest of the vessel, yes, there is some room for improvement. I'm not entirely disappointed with it, though. -
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I believe the new Snowtrooper minifigure has a slightly updated torso print from previous versions.

I can't understand the hate for the Sail Barge. Go look at some movie imagery, folks - the front end of this one is much more accurate!
