  1. Thank you fuzzy, that is exactly my point, just far more eloquent. Captain Morgan had to rethink his engagement for the Eslandolan course. He worries about his reputation when fighting for a nation that encourages piracy against merchant fleets. Therefore he has taken the view that L'olius' action of privateering deserve his support. Benjamin Morgan revokes his contract with Eslandola and joins Mardier.
  2. 4) As far as I know this rule is not yet made public. Maybe most people around here already know, but I can only trust the rules I can find in the index. And so far nobody has offered us a new faction ship. And I know that MKJosha asked about that. On a sidenote, the rules say that an NPC ship that was captured must be moced before it can be used. So am I right that the faction ship is a NPC ship? Nonetheless my suggestion would be to except the standard three faction ships from capturing. If every faction always gets a new faction ship if one is lost, it doesn't matter to them if they lose it. But on the other hand it would be an infinite ship generator for other factions/NPC. even if it is unlikely, it could happen that a faction loses one or all faction ships, gets new ones, loses them again and so on. And somebody else would get a bunch of free licenses for cllass 5 ships. Or even worse, Bloody Bill captures faction ships, can use them immediately because he doesn't have to moc them, uses those ships to capture more ships and so on. Soon you would have an invincible NPC bot.
  3. Be careful. I'm tempted to change sides just for the chance to win a challenge against you. Again.
  4. You may understand that I have doubts accusing Eslandola at an Eslandolan court. And june is too far away for my taste. I would feel acting unfair to change sides now because I'm already involved in the planning for the Eslandolan entries. When I get paid, I always follow the job through. You know that.
  5. Because they are members of the leadership team and therefore out of concurrence. Congrats to all. It's a pity that I wasn't able to participate. But wait for the revenge of the Sea Rats!
  6. Well then my interest in building for eslandola is melting away. Now building for Mardier would have been far mor attractive for non Eslandolians.
  7. Why is everyone thinking in baseplates (=squares)? The license fee difference between small and medium property is 100%, while the size of a medium is four times as large as the small. I think therefore something between 16x32 and the full 32x32 should be totally fine, as long as there is effort put in it. And of course everybody loves irregular bases. I would lovd to see more of them here.
  8. As far as I'm informed we are already at the point of knowing where we stand. The problem remains that at the moment nobody of us knows who decides on court cases. Neither in Eslandolas case against Mardier nor in our own against Eslandola.
  9. Then I wonder why Eslandola hesitates to make a build off against Sea Rats to give them the chance getting their lost ships back. Please leave that whole letter of marque/legitimation of privateering out for a moment. It has nothing to do with game balancing and should be only a matter for ingame story. Sea Rats should have the same rights as any other faction. We lost one of our big big 5A faction ships and a 3A vessel during a trade run when being attacked by Eslandola. For me that's piracy. Eslandola did lose its ships to an NPC faction. That means bad luck, ships out of game, but in our case it means both that we get weaker and another faction gets stronger. Not that that's unfairness in general. But when you get the chance to win your ships back from an NPC player, we should at least get the chance to get it back from a real faction. It's hard to find a proper balancing here, but my opinion is that Sea Rat faction is in disadvantage in many EGS things against the better structured Empire factions. And our advantage should at least be piracy in times without war being our domain. No, Sea Rats are not automatically pirates. We are a bunch of anarchic soldiers of fortune, traders who don't want to be oppressed by companies, trying to avoid taxes, outcasts, and yes, even some scoundrels. We have no direct government and therefore of course no court system. And that means for game balancing that we have no option of representing our interests. I mean, who decided that Eslandola can do a build off against Mardier? I really have no idea what the rules actually are for that. But do we Sea Rats really have to beg for Eslandola's mercy to get the small chance of winning back our ships? We are already outnumbered and struggle to keep up with the other factions. I do not complain about the amount of members and such, it's just that the whole game is certainly thought to last more than a few months, and feeling beaten right at the beginning really spoils the fun. We do not cry and go whimsy because someone wins a fight against us, but without those two ships we can't even participate properly at the MRCA, because we have too few escorts. And if you think this further, you will know that that will continue. After two or three months we would have no ship left to defend ourselves and everyone would be pissed of. I'm sorry to post this here, I know this thread is not made for discussions. But I just had to address that subject.
  10. There's enough basic information in the background thread. Rest is up to you. But it's likely that Mardiers architecture and culture is very similar to Eslandola, since Eslandola is a former territory of Mardier.
  11. Aye, the problem is that Marsier is an NPC faction. Nobody has the duty to sign up for them. If it was between two player factions they would be responsible to find volunteers. If they couldn't it would be a victory by default.
  12. So is there anyone willing to sign up for Mardier or do we call it a victory by default?
  13. Ahoy! Another day, another question: The settlement rules say that every settlement must have its level worth of each type of property (except fort, education and culture), but it is also mentioned that the shown levels are wrong. Any idea what the real levels are?
  14. I fell in love with the Margot! Tremendous ship! Looks like class 8 or so :D
  15. Looks very classy! Brings me back on my mind the origin of all this: classic pirates. I love to see this from time to time.
  16. This is just beatiful. That level of detail shows every visitor the tremendous wealth of your colony. I especially love the use of the grill tiles, works perfectly. Ant cheers for that doorhandle!
  17. Or maybe Davy Jones is sitting in the shrouds of the rules thread, pranking game leaders by hiding and throwing overboard rules
  18. No one to blame for not seeing this earlier; MKJosha edited the rule a few moments ago.
  19. Definitely! But sadly Z hasn't shown up for a while now. He seems pretty busy in RL so we have to wait. Until then..feel free to share your favourite pumpkin recipe! I can say I have tried out everything with pumpkin: pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pizza (my family hated this).. I'm thinking about pumpkin cookies right now.
  20. Thank you! That point about SR settlements always being squatter colonies was the missing link.
  21. Sadly not. There are no limitations mentioned regarding the first license for free rule. Also nowhere I could find about the half price for property licensing for sea rat thing. I mean, Kai said a few posts earlier that SR have to pay full license fee in a non squatter settlement. But I don't really understand that point. I mean there is no real no man's land where you could establish a squatter colony; every island at the moment is going to be rewarded to a faction, and I guess we are not allowed to build a settlement on an isle already claimed by another faction. And since sea rats do not pay taxes, shouldn't that mean that every property of a sea rat in sea rat settlements is half price?
  22. I'm a privateer! I thought that would something typical sea ratty, to fight other nations wars to earn some DB
  23. Amazing work. The idea itself is above ingenious. And the execution is superb. I wanted to give lord Osric a coat of arms for a while now, but my thoughts were about making custom stickers and clothing etc, but this is just so brilliant. Stunning!
