Yeah not only is he following me but has actually managed to PM me as well, apparently being the first to call him out and tell him he was a troll has put me on his radar. I will not open his messages or even respond, to be honest it is a bit funny. As long as it goes no further and it does seem like he has been dealt with.

Funny you say that, as I search out LEGO sets with studded Technic parts, I find them very useful and love to hoard them. Perhaps a bit misguided following the belief that they will somehow quit producing them and become rarer and rarer and I will be left out in the cold, with too few of them.
-
Lol, my oldest set isn't even as old as this thread, I will have to remedy that.
-
And yet Technic elements seem to find their way into virtually every LEGO set, lol.

I have enough LEGO and will never buy more.

You know, I learned long ago not to expect too much out of a set until official release pictures, or put much faith in speculative posts but in all honesty, this thing just seems to be sounding worse and worse. Hopefully we will all be pleasantly surprised but as of now it sounds like an easy pass for me, 180 degree turn around from a couple of months ago.

Great job, so many good alternative models, makes me want this set all the more. I have been on the fence lately on whether to get it or not, as much as I want it I think I should wait until I see the new Mercedes trials truck. Since it is unlikely I can get both, I will have to pick only one.

[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)
Johnny1360 replied to The Lego Room's topic in LEGO Town
Been thinking also how much easier it will be now to make stuff like race tracks and airport runways. The ideas just keep coming as I leave these new plates laying around in my build space. Trying also to work out some way of doing inclines or rampways. -
[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)

Good idea there, I was also thinking they would be good for a multistory building, under construction, thinking like steel girders. Definitely good for many styles of bridges as well. -
[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)
Johnny1360 replied to The Lego Room's topic in LEGO Town
Bought my first set of the new roadplates this week and I must say, I like them. I totally understand why people with existing layouts don't though but I do not fit into that category. Also I will say now I have none of the old ones so the release of these new ones couldn't have happened at a better time for me. One of the main reasons I never bought the old ones is mainly I felt the lanes were too narrow, with the new ones you can easily make wider lanes, if you want to. I can also envision other uses for the ramp pieces other than just on the ends of the roads, so no problems there, although I will have an excess of stop lights, other than that there should be plenty of options to use the rest of the parts. It does bother me though that the OPs biggest gripe is that the new roadplates are only 1 plate thick when they are clearly two plates thick, which I very much like. I also like the way the bottom of the plates are, should be easy to make elevated roads if you choose or just build the whole road system up with minimal extra parts. Very much like that the printed lines are removable unlike the old ones. I definitely would have liked to get more 2x4 plates though both printed and unprinted. Also would have liked some sort of curve option, maybe later we will see something like that. Anyway I am glad they switched, now I can actually start my city layout, yay. I get I am the only person in the world that feels this way and there are several valid points against them but this change is just what I needed. Thank you LEGO for finally giving me a roadplate I can use. Edit: Also wanted to mention, with the new plates you can easily change the scale of your roadways, with the old ones not so much, to me this is the biggest plus for these new ones, can accommodate larger vehicles. Many of which frankly look ridiculous on the older style. -
That is also very true and I believe I could be shoehorned into that description as well. Also not sure how much it matters but many people, like me have never seen the associated media tied to specific sets, although I have seen the original Star Wars and the Empire strikes back, so many star wars sets, I have no clue what the characters are supposed to be "doing". The same for almost all other sets. Never seen any Super Heroes movies, same with Ninjago, Harry Potter any Lego movie whatsoever. So for me anyway none of those characters have any predetermined role whatsoever. Also I get I am probably the only person in the world that has that experience, lol. I would like to believe though there are many children out there that may not have seen all the media that is associated with certain sets and actually do use their imagination when playing with their LEGO. And again, when I was a child, there was no minifig, probably why I enjoy building with Technic so much, no characters. I also display my LEGO sans minifig, they are all in tubs in the closet, with the exception of Speed Champions, I do put the driver in the car.

That's the way it was for me too, in fact yellow was reserved for asians. I am old, all my lego was red and white and there was no minifig, I will never forget how excited I got when blue and yellow hit the scene. Probably one of the reasons why the whole minifigure mania thing still puzzles me after 5 years of being out of my dark age.

Fair enough, I generally just buy the sets/parts I like without trying to be to critical. I mean there is so much out there and I feel no need to have everything, so I am okay with stuff I could care less about but I do enjoy hearing others perspectives and ideas. I am happiest with LEGO in hand and like many here, I have more sets/parts than a normal person should have. For me it's all about fun and building, everything else is secondary and I can take or leave it. With so much out there though I believe, perhaps a bit naively, that there is something for everyone.

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation

In all fairness you don't have to watch the video and pictures of the set were shown on the previous page, however I do respect your honorable intentions.- 755 replies

Yes, I agree if anything it seems quite the opposite, I have never noticed this "Rule" written or unwritten, in fact it seems to me at times people can actually be hypercritical of TLGs decisions.

Not real sure, I often just check the calendar for double point deals or the LEGO website. As far as knowing in advance of that, maybe someone else can help

Well done, fun to look at, unfortunately a little to close to home, lol. I think that his "brown thumb" is a great addition too, gave me a little chuckle, mostly because my only house plants are all cacti.

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
I know I will buy this set anyway but the more I look at it the less I like it. I know the real car isn't really very curvey or shapely but to me anyway, from that box art it just looks square, boxy and with surfaces flat as an ironing board. Hopefully the real set will not look so uninspiring.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
This does seem to be a bit higher price than expected, unless there is a significant side build. The funny thing is the whole reason I got into Speed Champions was the relatively low prices, like $12, then the prices went up, like $15. Still I thought it was a decent value so I stuck with it, then they switched to 8 wide and again the prices went up, like $20 and although SC was no longer such an inexpensive theme I still bought them because I enjoyed them so much. However I do have my limits, no matter how good the theme is, so if they jack the prices up again so soon, I will likely just forget about it, as with Star Wars. I used to really enjoy SW but the prices were just too much for me, now I see they are trying to address that issue, unfortunately by reducing part counts. So I really hope that price is wrong or the set has more to it. I really enjoy smaller less expensive sets and it would be a shame if Speed Champions no longer fits the bill.- 755 replies

Effe's MOC Corner
Johnny1360 replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So looking at that loader, it seems like the bucket arm is lowered as far as possible, resting, on the fenders, can go no lower. Which is crazy because obviously the bucket is unable to scoop anything up off the ground, which is what a loader does. Possibly I am just not seeing it right, does anyone recognize the moc or set? That is so crazy they can put those models out as complete sets so quickly, mind boggling to me anyway. There is so much wrong with the way they are doing business though, I will never even consider buying one. What is even more mind boggling though is how an entire society sees it as totally acceptable and in fact the norm, for conducting businesses. All's fair in love and war and making money. -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes there are improvements that could make it better but even with only twice the parts it would be huge, so I may pick it up anyway too. I had no idea the part count was so much higher. I actually liked the last one, especially with the pod attached on the rear end. -

We want the amazing 60278 Crook's Hideout Raid!
Johnny1360 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Yep, definitely got to wonder what happened, who dropped the ball and how could it happen. I guess it just goes to show, large corporations can and do make poor decisions, just like I do, on occasion. The thing is, it is possible it has nothing to do with of the reasons set forth in this thread. Hopefully at some point it is resurrected in some form.- 21 replies

Johnny1360 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Now that it has been cancelled, it's the only set I want. Seriously though, I did like the set and I am sorry it got cancelled but I do see how it could be in bad taste to release such a set.- 21 replies
