  1. Same. :P (I got the idea when I saw ‘Skye’ on the map which stood out to me because I have a recurring character named Skye, looked it up and discovered the S’kytri race, went, ‘Hey I have the parts to make a minifig like that!’ then I found the spreadsheet and noticed Skye is currently occupied by the Triumvirate with only 5 points, and . . well, I hope you’re not too attached to that planet. I’m coming for it. :P )
  2. Question. Do we know if LEGO not selling licensed parts is LEGO’s own policy, or a policy it adopts for the sake of its partners? Because I can definitely see Nintendo going, “Oh, yeah we don’t care about forcing people to buy entire sets just for a couple of pieces, feel free to sell Mario parts on Bricks and Pieces,” where Disney goes, “MUHUWAHAHA MONEY MONEY!”
  3. In the wake of the collapse of the Empire, the S'kytri people of the planet Skye have found themselves being occupied by a (comparatively minor) force from the Triumvirate intent on maintaining Imperial order, to the detriment of its citizens. Self-elected ambassador Astrid Speccroix has taken it upon herself to petition the Confederacy of Independent Systems for aid in freeing her people so that her planet can officially join the Confederacy, and has donned a dark blue shirt as a show of her allegiance. (I wanna take a crack at this game! Seems fun!)
  4. I assume he means the arrow printed tiles.
  5. Oh! I discovered something interesting and quirky with Mario when I was messing with different colours to provoke a reaction; he reads Lime Green (the colour they use for grass in the Friends sets, which since 2009 I have thought of as ‘Power Miners Green’) as being ‘desert’ rather than ‘grass’. Interesting and strange for sure.
  6. Well, I don't see any reason why they couldn't have power-ups that depress more (or less) than two switches. But when I tried pressing just one switch or any other combination, it came up with a Bluetooth symbol and some other strange shapes, which I suspect is Mario's 'error message'. Still, I think fifteen (of which we currently have five) is plenty. Hoping for Ice Mario, Tanooki Mario (or Flying Squirrel Mario, whatever) and Cloud Mario! Also, I agree RE Luigi. If this series survives more than a couple of waves, eventually they'll need to make a 'Starter Course 2.0' or similar set, which will be the perfect time to introduce a recoloured and possibly modified version of Mario as Luigi. (Assuming they haven't ditched the course-builder design in favour of actual minifigures by then - though I think they'd see greatest success if they did a combination of both; preserved the course system and interactive tiles but included minifigures in the sets, so that the course is a secondary function.) Also, Princess Peach when? Come on we need Peach. Ideally Daisy and Rosalina too!
  7. Oh, ouch. I only got two so far, intentionally picked randomly because I wanted ‘the experience’. Got a Bullet Bill and a Buzzy Beetle. I love the little Bullet Bill (so much nostalgia for Mario Kart when I was six and always came last), and the Beetle . . wouldn’t have been my first choice but it’s cute all the same, so I won’t complain. Definitely want a couple of Spinies and Peepas, though. Maybe I’ll get an Eep Cheep as well, they’re cute and I don’t plan on getting the Toad Treasure Hunt. (Of course, Cheep Cheeps are the ubiquitous water enemies so there’ll probably be more across the next couple of waves.)
  8. Mario has six switches on his stomach. By depressing them in certain combinations of two using pins (or as I did, spare katanas from Ninjago), you can trick Mario into thinking that he’s got specific power ups enabled. By doing this I was able to unlock and ‘complete’ all four power-ups in the app. If anyone’s interested, outer-left/outer-right is normal Mario, middle-left/middle-right is Fire Mario, inner-left/inner-right is Propeller Mario, outer-left/middle-right is Builder Mario, middle-left/outer-right is Cat Mario.
  9. Seriously? Only at Shop@Home? That can’t be right, Just2good did a video showing the King Boo set at Target in America. They’re probably retail exclusives, sure, but I can’t picture them being Shop@Home and LEGO Store exclusives. (Though, most of the General release Mario sets have popped up in retailer websites here and I haven’t seen either Thwomp Drop or King Boo anywhere . .)
  10. Finally, we have another ghost! . . I’m the only one who thinks Moaning Myrtle is the most exciting inclusion, huh? Still, James and Lily? Whoa. Unexpected and awesome. And aww, baby Harry! Other than them, the only real standouts IMO are Dumbledore and Kingsley (who looks awesome and I want to get a bunch of him to army build Ministry workers wearing that exact outfit). Griphook is a cool addition, especially with the Sword of Gryffindor (even though I do feel like Harry should have it). As for Fred and George . . Yep, pretty much covers it. I’ll hold out for a more accurate version of the Twins . . though I could see reinterpreting one of them as Bill or Charlie.
  11. Also, it turns out that each of the ‘pants’ on the Power-Up Packs is a matter of internal shapes depressing certain switches on Mario’s stomach. So each of them are a unique mould, which further explains the price. By fiddling with it I managed to get the combinations to trigger Fire and Propeller Mario without actually owning Propeller Mario (I did get Fire when I got the Starter Pack because I wanted to try at least one Power-Up, which is how I discovered this). I don’t know which ones to depress for Cat or Builder Mario yet, but . . interesting that Mario can be duped like that.
  12. Now that I actually have it in hand . . nope. The hands can’t be removed from the arms, and they can’t even rotate at the wrist. Literally the only posability LEGO Mario has is in moving the arms at the shoulders.
  13. There wouldn’t happen to be anyone else in Melbourne who pre-ordered the Starter Course from Metrohobbies, would there? Because they advertised having the Monty Mole and Super Mushroom set at a pre-order bonus, but I just went to pick it up, and they gave me the Super Mushroom polybag instead and went “What’s the difference?” Only a hundred and fifty parts and the whole reason I ordered from you . . Well, they’ve lost my business permanently. On a related note, did I hear something about official LEGO shops having the Monty Mole set as a GWP? Does anyone know if this applies to the Lego Shop in Chadstone?
  14. I don't have and don’t plan to get the Race Car, but the Fire Truck has no extra stickers. Also, so far as I can tell there are no bonus stickers in the Summer Ninjago series. It might have been a one-time thing, unfortunately.
  15. An Elf Clubhouse? Okay, not what I was hoping for but still sounds interesting! I’ll look forward to seeing that.
  16. Can he swap hands, though? Because those big glove hands could be great for people making custom Looney Tunes or similar figures.
  17. Fair enough. Plus I can see his hair getting darker as he ages (now I’m picturing a ‘Nexo Knights: Fifty Years Later’ with elderly versions of all the characters and grey- or white-haired Lance. Hehe!).
  18. I was really expecting a “Jack’s Haunted House” or “Parker’s Possessed Camper Van” or even a “Terrifying Treehouse”, yeah. It’s kind of weird that the only ‘good guy base’ set we got in this theme was the tiny JB’s Ghost Lab set.
  19. Depends on what you're looking for. Honestly I'd say it comes down to personal preference . . but I think 71721 looks cooler on a shelf.
  20. So we have official AUS prices for the three new sets and it’s bad . . $80 for Sandy’s boat, $100 for the Could Roadster and $230 for the Foundry . . I mean come on LEGO I can’t afford $230 for a set with less than 1500 pieces . .
  21. I don’t count the Golden Master, and sure, that was the Overlord in the Temple of Light, if Garmadon with an extra attachment to his helmet and a staff that neither Overlord nor Garmadon ever actually used is the Overlord . .
  22. Don’t forget the Preeminent from Ninjago: Ghost Story (I know it’s technically called Possession, but come on, Ghost Story is a much cooler name for that arc). And we didn’t get The Overlord until the Legacy sets . .
  23. Ooh, exciting. I love that you’re continuing with this series! I should say, that’s not a very good wig for Lance. I use part 87991 in tan, because that’s more accurate. (I have Lance set up as my superhero team’s PR expert and part-time actor in my city.)
  24. Okay, so I had an idle thought after noticing that the two spiky tufts of fur on Bowser’s head are on a 2x2 area, but can anyone think of a good way to give Bowser a moustache? Because now that I’ve realised how easy it would be to put Mario’s hat on Bowser I kind of really want to make a Super Mario Odyssey-style Mario-possessed Bowser.
