Okay, so I’ve seen the HoA expansion . . I’m almost disappointed. This is, what, the fifth set to include that same Iron Man variant? Um, mech, bigger mech, 4+ Tower, actual Tower, Helicarrier, this . . wow, number six, even worse. And besides that we have what’s basically a purist custom Tony Stark, two more AIM agents, and exactly one new armour in the Mark 2. Or ‘Prototype’ but I think we all know it’s the Mark 2. Oh, and a random nanofig? I was excited for this set, but seeing it it might be a skip. The builds are cute, though I’m not sure I get the Hotwheels Hot Rod. Then again if it’s really that cheap . . eh, I’ll think about it. Better question is, if I go ahead with getting both versions of the Tower and this, what will I do with two spare Enix suits?

Yeah, I’d love Jokequin in LEGO form too but I don’t see LEGO going near that with a fifty-foot pole except as maybe a convention exclusive or D2C exclusive figure.

So I feel like we’re going to have a ‘This isn’t even my final form’ moment with the version of Nehmaar in the castle eventually.

So, wait, is this actually a real thing? I assumed it was someone’s fake custom. Looks cool! I’ve got enough trains for my city at present, but this thing does look cool. It’s a shame I won’t be able to get it (no budget and nowhere to put it . . )

‘Fairground Series’ is an official thing now. Maybe we’ll see a ‘Winter Village Series’?

I plan on getting both Avengers Towers and using the parts from the 4+ set in a custom to augment the big one. Hopefully the ‘Armoury’ works to that end as well. A seven-floor Avengers Tower . . it’s going to be the second-tallest thing in my city. And $90 USD? That’ll probably translate to $120-ish AUD, and when I can get that at 20% off that’ll be a great price. Can’t wait!

I checked the MCU wiki, either LEGO for some reason decided to rename the Hotrod and Blue Steel suits or these are completely LEGO-original designs that happen to be nearly identical to Hotrod/Mark 22 and Blue Steel/Mark 30. Because there is no precedent whatsoever for Iron Man suits named Tazer and Blazer that I’ve found.

The Detroit Steel set suit is Invincible Iron Man. Pretty sure it’s from a cartoon or comic or something. Also I thought that was War Machine Mark 2? Also. I was looking at that new Hulkbuster’s head again and thinking, “If anyone ever wanted to make a MOC where Hulk or Thanos or someone had ripped off the Hulkbuster’s head, flattened it and used it as a shield, this is perfect.” XD

Okay, so this thread blew up by five pages and I honestly can’t be bothered reading back through all of it. So we’re sure that the suits in the Tower (which is totally gorgeous and a must-buy for me) are the Mark 22 Hotrod and Mark 30 Blue Steel, right? Also, seeing that the Rescue in the ugliest Hulkbuster is a weird new variant and not the same as Endgame Rescue makes me feel better about buying that crap-tastic Hulk Helicopter set in January. I’m passing on the Hulkbuster, as it happens my existing Hall of Armour has exactly two spaces open for extra Iron Man suits so Avengers Tower is just about perfect. Also, what’s this about an ‘armoury’ set in August? I thought this was all of the sets for this year? Is it confirmed that there’ll be some kind of Hall of Armour 2? Because considering the first one was just last year and Avengers Tower basically includes a Hall, I find that unlikely . .

The sets are officially on Shop@Home, and we can finally see the interior of the Skull Sorceror’s Dungeon! . . I mean, it’s not huge or anything. There’s not a lot of detail, it looks like the lower level is some kind of loot room with the Ivory Sword and some gold bars, and the upper level is either a bedroom for the Sorceror or a prison cell for the princess whose name I forgot . . something with a V . . ? Still, it’s good and there’s an interior.

I’m actually pretty sure that’s still available at my local Kmart.

Exactly. Buying additional Joy-Cons for a Switch costs $110 AUD, and the cheapest I’ve ever found them was $90 - IE, $45 AUD for one. I’ve already put in a preorder for the Mario Starter Pack and the Monty Mole GWP, so I’m totally happy to frame this as me paying $80 AUD for a console/controller and 450-odd LEGO pieces. These suits are cute, but I don’t really see myself getting them. Maybe I’ll get Cat Mario, but I’m not attached to the others (though if they made Freeze Mario or Galaxy Flying Mario, then I’d get excited). I think it’s a bit more interesting that Maker Mario includes a couple of pieces of this new course builder set of parts in light bley. We haven’t seen that part in that colour before, it was only green and red and yellow and blue, so we can assume that those will appear in more sets. Exciting!

Cool minifigure pack! Also happy to have it confirmed that it’s the Helicarrier Black Widow with the arm printing, I’m blind and can’t tell whether it’s the game Widow or the latest MCU Widow that comes in the Taskmaster set. Falcon looks cool too!

So there’s a purported minifigure pack leaked, containing fifth-year versions of Harry, Malfoy, Cho (I think?) and . . I’m admittedly not sure who the blonde Hufflepuff is, but I almost don’t care because it’s a Hogwarts student army building pack with one uniform for each House and it’s wonderful because now my Hogwarts can have more than two Hufflepuffs! Finally! I’d prefer a proper Battle Pack but I’ll still take this, yay! Can’t wait for it to release! Oh, and there’s a printed Marauder’s Map too which . . is what everyone’s already talking about . . right. Sorry. This is still cool!

So there’s a new picture of some kind of Friends Volcano, which in itself is unexpected but kind of awesome. But it comes with all-new llamas, three of them, and they are adorable! And here I thought I might finally go a year without buying at least one Friends set . .

Ooh! I just noticed another detail about the Monkie Kid; the ‘delivery boy’ outfit he has in the Food Truck, Inferno Truck and polybag each also comes with an unprinted version of his headband wig. That’s convenient for customisers like me.

So, one question that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet; the trailer they revealed shows a fifth protagonist alongside the four in the sets; a guy in what looks sort of like a kilt with massive glasses. Who is he and why isn’t he in any of the sets?

I haven’t changed my opinion in the sets being gorgeous but the prices are just . . uwaaahhh. I can see myself getting Pigsy’s Truck and the Secret HQ. Maybe also Red Son’s Truck if I can afford it. Luckily, I know a small shop in Melbourne that usually stocks ‘LEGO-exclusive’ sets and does intermittent 20%-off discounts, so they’ll be hugely helpful. Still . . I just don’t get why LEGO thinks making a theme of mostly large sets that are out of the price range of kids is a good idea.

I can’t picture them doing two Bowser Castles simultaneously. If there is a D2C I expect a Mushroom Kingdom Castle, similar (but probably smaller than) the Disney Castle.
