So this has been on my to-do list for two and a half years but now that the Newbury Abandoned Prison is out I’ve finally turned my attention to installing a proper police force in my city. The first step of this has been accepting that LEGO will never again make a police station that actually looks good on display and ordering a pre-owned edition of the 2012 Forest Police Station on eBay (which I personally believe is the nicest-looking official police station in LEGO history) that I plan to modify the hell out of and attach to the Newbury Jailhouse. I already have a police helicopter from 2017 (I had a ‘collect named characters’ phase and got it for Chase McCain, which I suppose was a good idea because we’ll probably never see him again). Unfortunately I scrapped the associated car but the current Highway Arrest set with Duke Detain is only $20 at Kmart and it complements the police truck that’s included with the Forest Police Station pretty nicely. So I’m going to have two police vehicles and a helicopter with matching predominantly-blue-with-white-highlights colour schemes. The one thing that I feel is missing is a ‘prisoner transport’ truck. What I have is good for first response and just general transportation, but as far as taking crooks to the jail the only options are ‘Let them ride in the helicopter’ or ‘stuff them into the back of the truck’. With the absolutely ridiculous number of Police sets LEGO releases yearly, I’m sure there’s a predominantly-blue prisoner transport truck somewhere in the last ten years or so. Can anyone point me to a good one?

So, has anyone been able to find these anywhere other than Shop@Home and LEGO Stores? Because normally, even with D2Cs and such exclusives that don’t go to the main retailers, they pop up in local hobby stores. But I haven’t seen so much as a hint of Monkie Kid anywhere other than Shop@Home.

Well there’s a theory going around that, since his title is ‘The Harbinger’, he’s actually more like the herald of some bigger threat. Also, he’s supposedly from another dimension that isn’t the Hidden Side and technically not even a ghost. Sooo . . we really just don’t know yet.

Okay so I was considering getting the IT-S Transport but now that we have pictures . . as a troop transport it is shockingly useless. It fits maybe four minifigures? That is a lot of bulk for not a lot of functionality. Hard pass and I’m severely disappointed.

Just2good has a review up of a single bling bag he received for demonstration purposes, the Spiny. Actually, there are instructions on leaflets inside the bags. But yeah, army building will be fun with these guys. The Spiny is my favourite, it’s so cute! I’m going to get at least three or four of those for the display I’m planning. The Pokey is nice. I still can’t pick out a favourite, they’re all very cool. ^^

The full line’s been revealed on The Brothers Brick! And there’s two extra retail exclusive sets, a Thompson Course and a King Boo Haunted Mansion, that we hadn’t heard anything about previously! And also . . oh my gosh, so many of these sets are so wonderful and gorgeous. The only one I dislike is the Piranha Plant Power Slide, all the rest look great and I’m going to have such a hard time not simply buying every last one of them. I can’t even pick out a favourite . . wait, yes I can. The Toad Village is so incredibly cute, day one purchase!

So last year when the Hall of Armour originally came out, I bought a custom Iron Man Mark 22 online. Which I honestly think looks better than the ‘Blazer’ Mark 22. I clicked through the other Iron Man armours we haven’t gotten yet, and now I’m thinking that when I get the Tower I could swap the arms and legs with dark bley or silver ones for either the Mark 29/Fiddler or Mark 32/Romeo. Can’t decide which yet. Does anyone know any good dark grey legs with printing that would match the suit reasonably well? I got the idea from this, nice work! Might just do that.

EDIT: Also! I can’t believe I almost missed this, but the ‘ghost head’ in the Prison set is totally new! I thought it was just a reuse of one of the common ones from last year, the one that comes in the Juice Bar and a few other sets. But it’s a totally new ghost face with a moustache! We can make mafia ghosts! (I don’t know why that was the first thing I thought of but now I’m going to do it.)

Very cool. Thanks! It’s a gorgeous figure, even if I think he’s a bit out of place in the prison. Speaking of, I just finished building the prison and it’s a pretty gorgeous set. I like it a lot, especially the transformation feature, which I think is the best ‘possession’ feature in the whole line except for last year’s High School. Toothdominoes deserves credits especially for using a rare colour like olive green. Shame I’m going to have to rip it apart to convert into a jailhouse that’ll fit into the available space in my city. Heh.

So I vaguely remember @just2good saying something about how the ‘Rami’ figure, with the teal and purple jacket, in the Prison set is the sigfig of a LEGO designer? Does anyone have more information on that?

I like the idea, but I don’t think Day of the Departed is the best example. Sure, the Ultra Stealth Raider is awesome, but what exactly is the Titanium Ninja Tumbler supposed to be a reimagining of? And you could argue that the Rock Roader is, in a very loose sense, a reimagining of the 2012 Tread Assault, AND I’ll give the Salvage M.E.C. a pass because I know it appeared in that Ninjago video game before it was a set, but I really don’t think DotD is a good example. I’d prefer to see something more akin to the ‘Classic Space Legacy’ sets they made in the TLM/2 line and the Ideas Mech from a while back. Revisiting the old stuff but building on it. The Serpentine Train would be great. (So would finally getting a Pythor with the Anacondrai tribe staff, but I know that’s a long shot.) Maybe even an updated and accurate Garma-Tron? I mean, look at the set, then look at how it was depicted in the show. There are Star Wars sets that could be considered more accurate than what we got in 2013. Though I think absolutely everything pales next to the idea of finally getting an Overlord Dragon. I sorta hope the Overlord returns for Season 13 just so that we can get an Overlord Dragon.

I did hear a rumour about a Nya focused season. Honestly I just want to finally get a water dragon. Please. As far as Legacy goes? More than anything I want a Legacy NinjaCopter. It was the best Ninja vehicle in Rebooted and it’s the only one they haven’t made from that wave (weird coincidence personally). Plus, as a Zane vehicle, it would mean Legacy Pixal, and/or (dare I say it?) a figure of Dr. Julian? Maybe? Though I guess if any set was going to contain Dr. Julien it would have been the Legacy Bounty.

You mean there isn’t gonna be a $10 4+ Razorcrest? But that sounded so incredibly believable . . On a serious note, though, the ‘Outland TIE Fighter’, which I assume is supposed to mean Gideon’s folding-wing TIE from the Mandalorian, would make a really great set. I hope that happens. (If only because I want a LEGO Darksaber . . .)

Open question for anyone who has an opinion; which version of the ‘Golden Trio’ should I have displayed in my city’s Hogwarts? I got the Great Hall, Whomping Willow, and will get the Astronomy Tower, so between those three and Dean from the CMF (who I put on a spare Hermione uniform to match the Year 2 Trio) I’m going to have Harry’s entire Gryffindor year group sans Parvati. Not to mention Susan Bones, Draco, Cho, Luna . . I’m basically trying to decide whether to have them all be second-year versions with short legs or fifth-year versions with long legs (in which case I’ll use the RoR versions of Harry and Hermione and the AT Draco, switch the short legs on Ron, Dean, Seamus and Susan with adult legs, and use the vacated uniforms from the Great Hall Harry and Hermione with the heads of Neville and Lavender and black adult legs for fifth-year customs of them). Does anyone have strong opinions?

So, does this have to be a location vignette? Or can I enter a MOC spaceship with a detailed interior? (Or is it acceptable to just use part of the interior of the ship as a location vignette?)

Really? That’ll be interesting. Quick update for anyone down under; Amazon has all the new Hidden Side sets in stock except the Mystery Castle. I’m trying to put an order in for the Prison but having trouble with a bugged promotion, but don’t let that stop any of you.

Oh you pampered Americans . . in Australia, there’s almost always massive shelf upheaval every Christmas. As a general rule, by February you can’t find anything from even the previous August. There’s sometimes a couple of exceptions (I’m still seeing the Katana 4x4 everywhere and Harry Potter sets seem to have more longevity than most) but typically if you haven’t bought a set by New Year’s be prepared to pay aftermarket prices. I’m not sure whether it’s LEGO’s fault for not supplying retailers or retailers’ fault for not ordering stock from previous years, and Amazon sometimes has lingering supplies (so happy that Amazon finally came to AUS a couple of years ago), but sets that release in August here or heaven forbid September (remember the TROS Star Wars sets last year? I haven’t seen any of those since January), Australian AFOLs have a very narrow window to get them.

I love Mortal Engines and this is awesome! Amazing work! For a second when I saw it I thought it was minifig-scale. Pity but understandable, I can only imagine how impossibly huge London as a Traction City would be at minifigure scale . .

Yeah, it’s really cute! I’m just not sure whether I should add it to my monastery or my amusement park . . I’ll probably break it up across both. Hehe.

So, um, I’m not sure where to post about this, but there’s a new leaked set that’s some kind of Ninjago-themed Legoland ride. It’s cute! I can’t remember seeing LEGO blend themes like this before, ever, but I like it! There’s a lot of exclusive either prints or stickers (possibly both), and some nice builds. I’m just not sure whether to put it into my amusement park or my monastery. I think my favourite part is the ‘Green Ninja’ shirt that the child in the set is wearing. It looks vaguely familiar, I’m not sure whether it’s new or if it appeared in maybe Ninjago City or something. But I’ll be excited to have it! Can’t wait to get this set . . now I kinda want to see about getting some of the other Legoland sets that I’ve been passing on up til now.

Also, I think someone mentioned interpreting the Enix suit as the MCU Mark 10? I looked on the MCU wiki and that’s pretty accurate, it’s certainly no less accurate than LEGO’s version of the Mark 22 or 85. I think I’ll do that. Thanks for the tip to whoever suggested t.

Yep, there are pictures on Shop@Home. The Tower looks good! I can’t wait to mod and upgrade it. I’m going to replace the Iron Man section with a Spider-Man suit rack. I’m not sure whether my favourite part is the Orb (even though it should contain the Power Stone, not the Space Stone - easy fix though!) or the stickered video game console. Also, they reused that video game controller part from the CMF a while back! I wondered if they’d ever do that again!

Does anyone have their hands on Wu’s Dragon, the Dungeon, or Zane’s Mino Creature yet? I have an idea cooking about combining the new goblin colour of elf ears with heads like Widowmaker’s or Taserface’s or the minifigure version of Thanos’ to make custom ‘night elf’ figures for my fantasy layout (I am not doing anything with Taserface or that version of Thanos right now and the Tracer vs. Widowmaker set is still available for only $20 around here.), but I’m not totally certain whether they’re the same colour. Can anyone confirm? EDIT: Okay so I’m an idiot and Widowmaker is actually a different colour to Thanos and Tassrface. Which one do the goblins match, ‘Lavender’ or ‘Medium Lavender’?

Ooh, new leaks. Finally! Finally! Finally! A new Ahsoka! I’ve been waiting for that for two years, and she’s in a smallish set too. The AAT does indeed look ugly, but it has some good parts. I’ll get it, scrap it, and revel in finally having a good-looking version of my favourite character. The 501st trooper with the Ahsoka-painted helmet is just the icing on the cake - I don’t think I can justify getting more than one of those AAT sets but I loved the ‘Ahsoka-troopers’ in TCW so I hope there really is a battle pack or something. Extra props for sharing an identical torso with the 501st troopers, since I fully plan on getting that Battle Pack as well. Normally I’d complain about reusing prints but in this case it’s perfect. That and the 501st are really the only ones I care about of the new reveals. Probably going to get the Razorcrest too, if budget allows, but money might be tight this year so fingers crossed I guess. The Night Buzzard is cool and would look awesome next to Kylo Ren’s Shuttle from last year, but I don’t think I can justify getting it. Do we have a confirmed release date? August?
