You're welcome! My dad always says that putty and paint makes me what I ain't!

Thank you! The shaping took quite some time to perfect. I believe that Corrington's largest sailing ship is currently @Mesabi WTC Judgement, which is a class 7. I believe that this is our first class 10 as well as our first ship of the line. I've got plans for several more ships like this in the coming months so stay tuned!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II

I was looking at the property index, and it said that government buildings like town halls and such weren't classed an Arts & Culture. So what would a town hall be classed as then? -
[TSotEP] 13 - The Wreck

Another thrilling chapter! Wasn't expecting the diving suit, but it a great touch. I went back and read the part 1 to the story, it all blends together very nicely! -
Nicely done! Great shaping of the hull!

Class 10 Third-rate Ship of the Line "HMS Dominance" HMS Dominance 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The largest ship to come from the Quinnsville shipyards - rightly dubbed the "Dominance" - is a third-rate 74-gun Ship of the Line. HMS Dominance 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr She is crafted from the finest timbers found on all of the Island of Cocovia and is well equipped for any occasion, whether it be sinking enemies of the Crown, patrolling dangerous waters, or transporting important dignitaries. HMS Dominance 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr She is even equipped with some experimental mortars on top of the stern castle for the purpose of besieging settlements. HMS Dominance 4 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Before being launched into the Brick Seas, she was fitted with a copper covered hull to allow her as much maneuverability as is possible for a ship of her size. HMS Dominance 5 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr While the big 48 and 36 pounders are stored in lower gun decks, she has two small batteries of 9 pounders to make her a force to be reckoned with on the open sea. This is a ship that I have been working on for quite some time now! I put it aside for a while but decided to bring it back out and finish her up right. Many thanks to everyone that gave me advice on how to make it look like a proper ship! C&C are welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking! For reference here is the journey that this ship went on before she became the "Dominance" -

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
LM71Blackbird replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another revision of the behemoth ship! I lengthened the masts. The mainmast is as tall as the ship is long. I'm not sure whether or not I will add sails. I may add some rolled up sails just to complete the look, but still undecided on that. Right now she sits at just under 5k pieces and is definitely the biggest ship I've ever built. She is pierced for 74 guns HMS Dominance 7 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr She has an upper gun deck (for a total of three) and the ships wheel as well as stair leading down to the first level below deck. HMS Dominance 8 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Above the stern castle there is a mortar deck for besieging cities and such. HMS Dominance 9 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Lastly, I redid the stern castle and tried to integrate it into the hull better. I like how it turned out so far. Here is the revised mast placement and spars for the ship. I also lengthened the bowsprit to make it more proportional. Now on to the stern! HMS Dominance 6 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr -

Thanks! I'm glad I could finally get the hull shaping down! Now to refine some other building tactics! The masts so far are just place holders (probably should have mentioned that! ) I'll do some research for a triple masted ship of the line. I'll work on the cabin as well, you're completely right that it doesn't quite flow yet. Thanks! I'll be working on that next! -
Very well done upgrade Mesabi! I am looking forward to these new skills shine even more in new ship builds! Keep up the great work!

Lol. The people of Quinnsville would be willing to assist in the exportation of the saltpeter to Mesabi Landing for further refining into the WTC preferred form.- 6 replies

[MOC] USS Poseidon - Minifig Scale First Rate Ship of the Line
LM71Blackbird replied to shiplover's topic in Pirate MOCs
I think it's safe to say that if this ever sailed the brick seas of BoBs that every single ship and settlement would be in danger of being decimated... We would probably need to make a special class just for this ship... -

I've brought back the behemoth that I dry docked for a while and after working on some smaller ships, I think I have figured out how to properly curve a hull! I am quite happy with the results so far! Here is what she currently looks like: HMS Dominance 5 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr For reference here is what she looked like before: -
