  1. When the first vague details started coming out late 2015 regarding a "big bang" fantasy castle theme, I originally visualized a World of Warcraft style theme, especially since some sources were describing it as somewhat "steampunk". But instead, we got a type of space/castle crossover styled theme. Yes, it sort of is hard to think of it as a castle theme, I see it as somewhat more of a space theme. I almost think a lot of fans might look back at this theme in retrospect and reconsider it as actually a pretty cool theme, irrespective of it not being a true space or castle theme.
  2. Well, the Iron Giant interview with creator Brett Cuviello has been posted on the Ideas blog, so perhaps the review results are not long from now. https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/008b0604-5eea-4834-a90a-1224a3fb7bbb
  3. Well, you knew Superman would be confronting Batman over his trespassing and burglary, but the film has so many villains of Batman's and of the multiverse, that it should have warranted a Villain Pub segment. In a way, TLBM was sort of a cinematic version of HISHE's Boss Battle Villain Pub episode.
  4. Didn't notice it the first time, but someone mentioned that Superman is a bootleg in this HISHE. I kind of wish the Super Cafe was brickfilmed like in The Lego Hishe, and they really should have done a Villain Pub. Oh well, maybe we will see a separate Villain Pub episode, but it was fun seeing HISHE Batman and Superman playing with Lego.
  5. I've been waiting for this a long time.
  6. Of the three most recent "big bang" themes, Nexo Knights is my favorite, and I think you've helped design a most imaginative theme. I think this theme has helped greatly with the absence of traditional castle and space currently, and fans of both can find some useful minifigures and parts (THE PARTS! ), even though it may not be the theme they wish for. The good guys offer space fans some great minifigures and pieces (Trans. Neon Orange galore ), while the bad guys gave castle fans some ominous fantasy army builders. And regarding your last point, I'm definitely grateful for an original theme, since I think we are way too saturated with licences themes. Also, since Exo Force, your set designs are best within many of the themes you have worked with! 8635 Mobile Command Center, 5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit, 5974 Galactic Enforcer, 7066 Earth Defence HQ, 9448 Samurai Mech, 70008 Gorzan's Gorilla Striker, and 70315 Clay's Rumble Blade are absolute favorites of mine!
  7. Hi, are "theme revival/future speculation" threads or "new theme ideas" threads acceptable to bump from dormancy if they haven't been touched in more than a year, or should a newer topic in the same vein be started instead?
  8. Sure, count me in, but I would message the mods and ask them about it.
  9. It been pretty slow on Ideas for awhile now, but I see The Wonders of Peru project has jumped ahead of the NF-15B project in the race to the 10K mark. It looks like we have only one more 10K club interview, the Iron Giant project, before maybe we we'll hear of the review results.
  10. I actually like that she has no prints, like many of the MOCs many have done in this style. By the way, that lasso does not look like gold. Instead, it looks either like brown or a metallic copper. If it's brown, that would be nice, because I think it was only made in that color for the S6 Cowgirl. I couldn't see Wonder Woman not being done, since she is in not one, but two DCEU films this year, and we all know how well her solo film has done so far. One unrelated thing, at a Walmart today, I saw they had a display of TLBM and POTC Brickheadz. I was rather surprised, since I remember seeing the theme branded as a brand store exclusive. Has this just changed just recently?
  11. We'll see, I do like seeing new colors introduced, just as long as they are not too similar and unnecessarily bloat the color palette. But like I said, I'm honestly not really expecting a new color to come from this theme, but the tank in the trailer was curious in that regard, so I just had to ask.
  12. This is embarrassingly good! Quite the wacked out mixture of 1930s deco style and 1950s atomic madness! Love some of the railcars too, old Popular Science magazines make for some hilarious inspiration.
  13. I think a monorail (either above rail or hanging) would work well within the look and feel of the theme, with a certain sleekness and efficiency. It's somewhat a futuristic concept, but it has been adopted as a mode of urban transportation by cities in both the past and present. Come to think of it, perhaps the theme would be our best ticket to the development of a new monorail system. As far as color scheme goes, the combination used by set no. 41109-1 (pictured below) I think would work nicely.
  14. The blocky, imposing front on this locomotive is very cool! Also, that monorail locomotive inspiration from The Legend of Korra is a very interesting design, something I know @LegoMonorailFan would be most interested in.
  15. Definitely? I sort of was hoping it would be some kind of new transparent bluish-green color, though I know Lego would probably not introduce a new color for an occasion like this.
  16. I would love a streamlined steam locomotive, particularly an American one, but perhaps a British one like the LNER Class Mallard would be more widely accepted among both American and European audiences. The set would not need to be a direct copy, but an inspired one. If so, I would hope it would come with color matching large and small train wheels in Bright Blue, since we already have both in Bright Red. Granted, I'm biased, since I just want them in that color for a custom tank engine Thomas.
  17. Not bad, I've never seen a tank treaded polybag build before, but perhaps I'm just not aware of one. By the way, what transparent color seems to be depicted on his tank in the movie?
  18. In a mixed Lego/Mega Blox bucket collection I found at a thrift store, there were some interesting 1 by 2 sloped macaroni type bricks in speckled red from some Halo set that came in the mixed bucket, something similar to what you are describing. I tried finding a picture searching different ways, but could not find it since I don't know what Halo set it came from. But yeah, sloped macaroni bricks of different sizes, slopes, and corresponding inverses would be most welcome. What is color is LBG an acronym for?
  19. Lego just might piggyback Mr. Fantastic into a Spiderman or Avengers set just as an excuse to reuse the new torso again, and Human Torch is definitely a candidate for Ghost Rider's head/hair meld mold, who would likely be given the same piggyback treatment. Much like that long, stretched out Green Lantern wait, piggybacking these characters in a set here and there would end up giving us a five to six year wait until the four can assemble as minifigures.
  20. As far as the "every other year" pattern, I was only speaking of Expert/Advanced train sets, excluding City and other themes. And the thing is, the set is branded a Creator Expert set, but like you said, that may not make it part of the Advanced Train subtheme. But some of the points I mentioned regarding the rerelease of the Toy Store, and the mini train set released that same year, seem like they couldn't be simply dismissed as coincidence.
  21. I have a theory regarding the lack of any Expert/Advanced train sets for 2015 and 2017. The first Expert/Advanced train we got was the Emerald Night, followed up by the Maersk Train two years later, and the Horizon Express two years after that. So we had a Expert train expected every other year, meaning that presumably we should have had successors for 2015 and 2017. While many here have concluded that Creator Expert just simply gave up on the subtheme, I actually think that 2016's Winter Holiday Train was supposed to be both 2015's Expert train and exclusive seasonal set. But it perhaps was developmentally delayed, hence the reason why we did not get a Expert train for that year, and a rerelease of the Winter Toy Shop. As for 2017, since a train was just done for 2016, perhaps Lego will wait for 2018 for another Expert train. Interesting note, 2015 did give us 40138 Christmas Train, which perhaps is a miniature take on the Winter Holiday Train for its hypothetical original release date?
  22. These are very nice, I love streamlined locomotives! There are unfortunately not very many MOC examples of them, but Anthony Sava's 4-6-4 is a favorite of mine!
  23. To me, the minifigures aren't that bad, it's the scaling down of some of the builds that bother me. Kai's mech, the hammerhead mech, and Lloyd's dragon all are too large to translate as is into moderate priced sets. Instead, they should have designed the film counterparts as smaller, but heavily grebbled builds that would have transitioned into minimally altered sets, much like many of TLBM's sets. The Scuttler, Batwing, and Batmobile were all great sets. TLM also had this problem with Emmett's mech, a build just to big to translate into a moderately priced set. Now maybe, just maybe, we could see actual scale reproduction remakes of these scaled down examples as D2Cs in the near future on anniversary dates for their films, such as TLM's tenth anniversary in 2024. Having said all that though, the Destiny's Bounty makes me forgive all those issues, since that's one AWESOME ship! Hopefully the rumored D2C blows us away just as much.
  24. A Superman set with both Toyman and Mr. Mxyzptlk could be very creative and fun, with an eccentric, comedic vibe like that of Batman's rouges.
  25. Well seriously, maybe we could see castle incorporated into the City theme someway, though not as a actual castle theme, of course. I think an medieval archaeological dig site subtheme could be plausible, with sets revolving around the excavation of castle ruins just outside of the city limits looking for medieval weaponry and throne room treasures.
