Likewise, I can't figure out whether it's a recolor or an all-new mold myself either.

Inspirational Modular and Castle MOCs
Digger of Bricks replied to LegoModularFan's topic in LEGO Town
Here's an interview by The Brothers Brick blog with one of my favorite architectural builders, Jeff Friesen from Instagram, who's microscale cityscape creations were featured on the blog as 2017's Creation of the Year! The Brothers Brick - Interview with Jeff Friesens of Cityscapes, The Brothers Brick Creation of the Year 2017 Whoa, extraordinary in both color and technique! I mean, look at that balcony!- 817 replies

That first one almost looks like it could be an actual set! I guess, come to think of it, that it resembles a cross between Ideas' Old Fishing Store and the Winter Village Train Station sets from last year.

When it comes to train stations that fit within a modular display, I think this works quite nicely!

[MOC] Star Dust Drive-in Theatre - Lego ideas
Digger of Bricks replied to fillishave's topic in LEGO Town
Excellent choice of subject for an Ideas project @fillishave! I really like how this can fit alongside other modular building without being a modular building, as so not to clash with Ideas policy about preexisting lines. -

Certainly, just as long as parts like that more resemble bricks and less like that torso design used for Mr. Incredible in the videogame. If Lego is going to make new minifigure parts for different body types, they should at least try to design them so they can be used beyond their intended purpose, relying primarily on printing for finer, signature detailing.

Good, as at least this could give the theme grounds to travel beyond Earth, I hope at least. So, if Lego is willing to use plausibly hypothetical science as inspirational source material for City subthemes, why not use a Lunar/Martian outpost as the setting for a future exploration subtheme?

Oooh, this one is particularly impressive, as I'm always a sucker for most buildings with railways/highways running through them. Plus, it's built upon a 32×32 baseplate! What a beauty! The three complementary locomotives in this too are really cute!

But, having said what I did about the aesthetic of past constraction lines, what has been done in the past does fit better for Technic compatible parts, whereas something with a more Zoid-like aesthetic is probably more fitting for System based sets instead.
