I'd also like to add that i'm probably going to start playing: Mobile frame zero - intercept orbit.

I've been a technic guy for a long time.. Since i saw images of micro scale spaceships, it gave me a spark to build my own fleet. My goal is to have an army of space ships that fight against eachother in a warhammer type of a setting.. I do already have a large hexagon table for gaming.. But i need to get started.. Does anybody have a wishlist/partlist that would get me started? I'm planning on purchasing a batch of parts from brickowl and starting to build. Instead of painstakingly going trial and error, i'd like to get help from the experts on whats the best set of parts to get started so i'll have a strong core base to start building off of. I'm also open if somebody has a clump of parts to sell. (I live in finland) I do have the sets: 75010 75009 75006

Found a mechanism for the turret. I'll post pictures probably tomorrow. -

The turret will be controlled by simply grabbing it and maneuvering it. If the turret can point up down left right, it would be amazing. But i'm fine with only two directions.. I just can't figure out what kind of mechanism to use. The turret will be attached inside the 5x7 frame and stick out. I think you have a good point about the side turrets. I agree, it's quite narrow. I'll have to go with plan B and attach four turrets and probably shield generators at the sides. If anybody can throw out a simple turret design inside the 5x7 frame, i'd appreciate it a great deal. -
Since this is a WIP thread, i won't go in the lore. So yeah basically a massive starship. Does anybody know how to fit a turret inside the 5x7 frame? Or what kind of turret to make that can tilt at least sideways. Only criteria is that the turret will have one of those little clutch pieces as the weapon. I'm not sure which route to pick but i have two options: Option A: -Make three turrets at the bottom of the ship as orbital bombardment cannons. -Have a command center at the top of the ship. Option B: -Make two turrets at both sides by tilting the ship sideways and keeping it symmetrical. (4 side turrets total.) -Figure another place for the command center. Both are equally valid options. I simply can't choose. Engines are finished. (Might revisit that green ball thing if i find more of those 0,33 x 2 plates.)

Captains log, stardate 67433.5. During the galactic battle of sector 8. Class-44 repair stations were sent to repair our starfleet. They are equipped with four repair arms, capable of fixing massive phaser fire damage in a matter of weeks. Container ships were sent out to replenish the supply container on top of the ships for spare parts. The drawback of class-44 repair stations is that they're completely unarmed as they're mostly civilian controlled. They however have four massive thrusters in each corner to give the station enough agility to retreat if in danger. These massive thrusters are as big as the ones in our battlecruisers. Our scouts have found a wreckage of an unidentified ship that's bigger than what we've ever encountered. The massive engine has been sent to the repair station Alpha-4. Our research vessels are en route to the repair station. A ship with an engine as big as this one, we can't imagine what devastation it could bring. Captain out.

Not much progress have been made. Only that i swapped the smaller and larger gears so the legs would open up more quickly. Otherwise, i'm already thinking about disassembling it and building a carrier type starship. (The problem with this moc is that i lack the parts for more containers.) Also the ship is awkwardly shaped. I intend to disassemble this and make the carrier instead. (Don't worry guys, i'll revisit this container ship idea and build something different but similar.) Feel free to copy these building ideas for your own future moc's. I would like to see more technic based star ships brought to our community. There is so much more options we can do from technic pieces instead of your traditional system built starships. So the carrier ship will have a panel of sorts that opens up and reveals many many fighters. At first, i need to design a small fighter that can be attached somehow. Building one from technic pieces is going to be challenging.

[TC13] Mini Tumbler
Mechbuilds replied to bastie77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When they make an unofficial competition with a regular poll that let's you just pick the winner then i'll be the first one to vote. Meanwhile, i'll just stick being an observer. -

Wish the voting would be simpler.. Just have a poll and pick the one you like.. The whole points system is so confusing that i don't vote on these competitions.. It's too much hassle to learn. -

Drive shaft has: 12 tooth spinning a 20 tooth that spins a 12 tooth that spins a bevel gear 12 tooth that spins a worm gear that spins an 8 tooth that spins a worm gear that swpins an 8 tooth By hand it's smooth until you reach the max and then it starts clicking. Very little force is required to spin the drive axle and the legs start to deploy very very slowly. But it's extremely compact. Leaving this beast on it's legs will probably damage these parts: I should probably build a stand for it since it's already quite hefty.
-
8T gears are fine. It's the structure on the top worm gears. (The L beams) that flex outwards due to the overloading. This flexing causes the worm gear to jump the 8T gear. I'm going to deal with the issue by strenghtening the L beam pieces and modifying the part where the worm gears are connected so the L beams can't flap like wings.

Landing gear up: Landing gear down: View of the mechanism: Problems found with this mechanism: If you use the large motor to crank it while it's standing on it's own weight, the gears tend to click.. Cranking it slowly by hand doesn't have this issue. Problem can be fixed simply by beefing up the structure since the top parts are flexing outwards. Simply adding a beam behind the L shaped pieces would eliminate the problem. But progress is being made. Yes!

Apparently being helplessly hopelessly stuck in a dead end helps. (you guys were very helpful! Thanks!) Guess what i rigged out guys! Do you know what this means?!? I can rig up a wormgear assembly for each leg That way all the weight will be supported on the legs instead of the axle. (The legs are there just as placeholders for now.) All this head scratching and in the end, the solution is very very simple. Any suggestions on the outriggers them selves now that the gearbox is done?

Oooh the parallellogram word explained it. (i'm Finnish so English is not my first language.) No wonder i was having issues.. Well after trying to fit the mechanism, i think my best bet is just trying to get 4 small LA's It's just much much more compact and simpler.. I also was trying to figure out a single linkage worked by one gear that transfers the rotation into two vertical motions by basically lowering two legs straight down. This looks ideal: ' EDIT: i could also just be lazy and put these pins at the bottom as support legs: Just like the containers have.
