Nice progress, it's also nice to see a decent WIP topic showing every step along the way, interesting stuff. Same here . I don't see a quick fix either, but it should very well be doable to make it 'legal' somehow. I think I would try to make the entire back side of the wing angled to the front (as seen from the top), so the individual flaps etc are perpendicular to their connection points. Only thing left is to connect the controls at the same angle somehow.

That's really good indeed, and very well explained too. Nice presentation also with the light brick. But when you are at this level of perfecting a LEGO build, I personally think the stationary gear should be a lot less wobbly, and the curved housing could be more accurate to represent the slight 'waist' in the middle of the oval chamber... Nevertheless, this is way above my level of ingenuity... Akiyuki indeed is a genius!

Thanx @Hinckley (and other staff) for picking this up! For a moment I thought my Internet-connection was being hijacked, but I'm relieved to see it was just the certificate after all...

Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion
Rudivdk replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm certainly not 'expecting' or 'knowing' anything, but wouldn't it be cool to have a double build option, where one could choose the current or ancient version? It should very well be possible to do so with that insane amount of pieces... or they just made all the walls from little 1x2 plate 'bricks', stacks up to thousands of pieces very fast...- 259 replies

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
Rudivdk replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks @roland! For now I'll just use 2x 165.dat as a quickfix solution. Edit: Actually I did a slightly different thing, I removed the line of code with the skin for the mid-section from the subfile, so indeed only the endcaps are left, but with all other template related grouping still intact. Works perfectly. -

[Software] LDCad - LDraw cad
Rudivdk replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@roland I might have found an issue in LDCad 1.6d (or I have just corrupted my file somehow...): When I mouse-over the "I" (info) button in the lower right corner of the model view window, I get an instant CTD... It only happens with 1 specific model, which has A LOT of pneumatic tubing in it. I never had this with version 1.6c which I had installed until a few weeks ago, or with any other models I am working on in 1.6d. All tubing was made inside LDCad using the templates in nested mode and sub-models. I can send you the file over PM if you want, as I do not want to share it publicly (it is not my design, I am only making the instructions for another EB-member). -
@Lebostein although I do not have this specific set, I did have the same issue with this gear combination in other sets. It's a production flaw for SOME of the tan 20t double bevel gears in the last few years. These gears also exist in black and have also been produced in light (bluish) grey. The grey ones are the oldest, and most smooth ones. Try if you can get a hold of a different colored version and your problems are almost certainly over. And of course as howitzer mentioned before, contact LEGO customer support for a replacement tan gear, they provide them without issue. From what I have read around here, the replacements are (almost) always better quality than the flawed ones in the set.

42113 Osprey V-22 [VIDEO REVIEW]
Rudivdk replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No doubt indeed, but that still isn't really the same... anyway, I already burned my yearly LEGO budget on the Lambo and Charger and some non-Technic display pieces, so it's not like I was actually going to buy it anytime soon... -

This is awesome, thanks a lot for the work and kudo's for making it for free! -
Well, if people are 3d printing their parts, why not use these kind of electronics. I know I would do neither (I'm an oldschool purist...) but I sure can enjoy these builds. It's only cheating if you don't like it yourself... This bike is just MAD: very fast, nimble and the movements of that driver are really cool. His facial expression too btw...

[MOC] scynox's workshop
Rudivdk replied to scynox's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Awesome indeed! I love these kind of retro-futuristic cars, and this one is done really well! I'd change the yellow camshaft parts for light (bluish or old) grey ones, grey blends more easily with the rest of the design. Perhaps change all white accents to light grey even. The white is a bit too bright imho for a car with a 'dark' look. Looking forward to the digital file -
Fixed it. I downloaded and unpacked the latest complete.zip and ldrawunf.zip from ldraw.org to my parts folders, copied the still-packed zipfiles into the local user folder referenced by LPub3D for PLI and BOM rendering (so both places have the exact same set of parts) and all works correct now. So a thing to remember: keep the zipfiles 1:1 in sync with your downloaded parts and all is good.

Thanx man! Gonna be a long night tonight... I use LDCad, together with LPud3D for generating instruction PDF's (with LDView as internal renderer). LDCad is not the easiest program to master, but I think it is the most versatile and powerful LDraw CAD tool. It's (again) a matter of personal taste I think. Plus: the creator of LDCad Roland Melkert is an active member here on EB ('roland') and still expanding the software, also on user request.

[MOC] Motor grader CAT 120M2
Rudivdk replied to Jundis's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you want to share the .io file, I can have a crack at it. I'll have to convert the .io to LDraw format, never done it but there are plenty tools and tutorials out there. I've gained some experience with flexible parts in LDCad over time, so I should be able to complete the build. I've done multiple instructions too, so that should work out as well. Will take some time though to fit it in between real life happening, so it's not done in a week... You can sent me a PM and we can discuss further if you like.- 42 replies

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Rudivdk replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We have a dedicated topic for future set wishes and speculations in Technic forum: Let's keep the '2020 set discussion' on the currently known 2020 sets... -
Well that didn't work out... Next option: I found this thread in EB forums It points me to refreshing two zipfiles with a local copy of the LDraw parts libraries specifically used by LPub3D for rendering PLI and BOM. This would explain why the parts I manually updated to my main folders are shown in LDCad, and rendered correctly in the assembly pics in LPub3D, since these use the shared parts library. Update time...

Hi there, I have another (noob?) question... When I am creating instructions for an LDCad model, I can see all my parts showing up nicely in the respective steps PLI. But when I generate the BOM at the end of the instructions, I found that some parts are missing. I have double checked, but for these parts I did not include any PLI IGN statement (I did use that for some bent parts, replacing them with straight ones in PLI and BOM, so I know the drill...). I'm using LDview as preferred renderer (LDGlite and POVRay are also installed). 'LGEO is available' is not checked. Is somehow LPub3D and/or LDview using a different path/file for rendering PLI and rendering BOM? LDCad 1.6c LPub3D v2.3.13 r113 LDview64 4.2.0.2 I have downloaded the latest complete.zip from inside LDview's update functionality, but that didn't fix it... Update: I generated the instruction PDF (without the BOM), but now the exact same parts are also gone from PLI of their respective steps. They still show up in the assembly though... Looks like a part related issue, could it be because I have updated those parts manually to my parts folders. I know there was something like 'mklist'(?) to generate a partlist file, probably those added parts are missing from there. I'll search around further but any help would be appreciated.

It only works between two consecutive steps. In my case it was very easy: show an assembly on one page, don't show it on the next. Usually it is used with floating parts and pointer arrows, and assembled parts in the next step. This makes it way harder because for every floating piece you need to add a 'final' identical piece in the next step, and remove those parts from that steps parts list. It's a bit of precise and repetitive work, but manageable... I can generate some example code later if you'd like to study further... We could also continue in PM if you want.
