  1. Speaking of supercars, are we in for a new one in 2022? I thought they are released every two years.
  2. I have a somewhat controversial opinion (compared to System builders): I feel like Technic should be a LOT more supported by TLG in terms of sets and parts. For being one of the three distinct systems, it should be a lot more publicized and expanded. Heck, even Duplo gets more sets per year than Technic does. The casual fans of LEGO I talk to have never even heard of/acknowledged Technic. I also noticed that System gets a LOT more recolored parts than Technic does. The BMW bike has been a blessing with many new parts, but if LEGO pushed Technic more, we would have much more. I would think LEGO would not just focus on vehicles, but instead expand to other constructions, which would make Technic more popular among casual fans. I feel like Technic has a lot of wasted potential. On the other hand, I really appreciate the "mini-revolution" in parts that we have gotten in the past 4 or 5 years, like the mini-panels, flip-flop beams and pin/axle connectors. I hope that someday Technic can get 40-50 sets a year.
  3. Honestly, I’m impressed! Lots of new parts, I will definitely buy many of those smaller shock absorbers. I’m surprised the new curved panel isn’t in this set.
  4. Turns out the new City sets are introducing a new color! It seems like a “highlighter yellow” type of color. Maybe it will appear in Technic someday, I sure hope so! It could be used for accents on vehicles.
  5. I haven’t visited this subforum in a long time, but I couldn’t help but notice in the hospital and helicopter upcoming City sets, is the yellowish color new? It doesn’t seem to match any existing LEGO color, and bright light yellow isn’t green enough to match.
  6. It’s nice, but we probably won’t get this in the States like the green helicopter. Still waiting for it to be released here, looks like it never will.
  7. A local thrift store had the parts in a wall grab-bag for $5, I couldn’t believe it when I got home!
  8. Hard to tell, but the pistons look like half-pegs with 1x1 round tiles on top.
  9. WOAH!!! 2x5 panel extenders is DBG! Finally!!
  10. Interesting model! I like how you built the front steering, very strong and clever. I've never seen a remote control with that type of steering linkage, neat! I would recommend usign a differential gear in the real axle and slightly larger wheels would not detract much from the motor's strength.
  11. @P McCatty Solid point! I haven't had any issues with the wheels falling out yet, but I will have a look at strengthening it. I still need to figure out the aesthetics of the rear of the vehicle.
  12. Finally made some progress, I have been pulling my hair out on a special transmission on an upcoming dark green car... I am missing 3 pieces in the correct color. Every bit of bodywork is complete, minus possible revisions. The main problem was the back, which has gone through 4 revisions. Can anyone share advice on the back? It still is a little too flat. New parts have become available since I built the front and sides, therefore I should consider the new options. I will not be making instructions for this model; the chassis uses many subpar building techniques and steering is poor. I am overall happy with the bodywork.
  13. Don’t bother printing ABS. It’s difficult to print, produces unhealthy fumes, and can be brittle. PLA works fine for Technic. PLA can scratch LEGO bricks when forced against each other, but that only happens when the part has the wrong tolerances.
  14. @2GodBDGloryMy $400 Prusa Mini can create usable Technic parts. Prusa’s machines, quality control, and customer service are FANTASTIC. For parts with thin details like tow balls, printing will be very difficult no matter what printer you buy. Parts like beams and gears work well. I was able to print a differential I found online and it worked fine.
  15. Is this magazine/polybag ever coming to the USA? I’ve been waiting for almost a year.
  16. No bargains super recently, but I got a sealed universal kit from 1996 for $40 (it was small but in great shape, can’t remember the set number off the top of my head). My favorite finds are still the Williams F1 (85% complete and dusty) for $55, 8366 Supersonic RC for $50, and a like-new 42077 Rally Car for $5!
  17. Definitely true. I just finished building this set and can confirm that there are several instances of “illegal” connections, mainly with parts placed at weird angles. It was still a neat build and a decent parts pack, and the clear cylinders do not have as much friction as I anticipated. The front light brick is pretty lame, while the back one works very well.
  18. We could put GBC in the title of this section of the forum a la “Technic, Scale Modeling, and GBC”
  19. I would not trust any clone brand as there could be missing or mangled pieces, torn instructions with missing pages, or the parts may not fit together at all (90% of clone pieces I have encountered barely fit or don’t at all). LEGO has done some decent Formula 1 models like the Williams F1 (expensive though), the Silver Champion, and the Ferrari one that I forget the name of. 42100 is a decent and newer unlicensed model as well.
  20. So strange, I ordered many of all colors of that part from B&P 6 months ago and none of them are misaligned. The only misaligned ones I have are from the small hovercraft set.
  21. I’m a bit worried, this isn’t replacing a new UCS 1:8 scale car, is it?
  22. Agreed, the rules already exist and are pretty bulletproof. I would be excited to participate in such a contest, too bad it doesn't seem likely.
