Yes, the person I got it from said most of his prototypes are from you. I’ve seen only a small portion of your collection, it must be amazing!

Recently got this awesome prototype part in a trade (yes, it’s genuine LEGO): I wonder what possibilities this would allow in building that we don’t already have. I only know of 2 in the world, this one in white and another in light gray. I want to post some more prototype Technic parts but this is the only one I own, but all the other prototypes are from other people.

Personally, I would rather lose the bar hole than have my pins break whenever accidentally stepped on/bent/twisted.

The picture is broken for me, and if by ‘not hard to find’ I guess you are referring to clone bricks. Real red half bushings are almost impossible to find, they are most likely mold tests and are usually destroyed.

I’ve seen it by searching “LEGO whiplash race face off” and indeed it looks like there is a red half bushing behind each front wheel.

Very creative alternate model! By the way, how did you find the helicopter polybag? It seems impossible to find in the USA.- 784 replies

I want this too so I can make a more compact suspension, this would be perfect! I can’t use the regular axle hole version for this purpose.

I don’t think it was designed to be used in Technic. For example the new large yellow Technic hoop was reportedly developed by the Friends team. I can see this being used in a few cases like large exhaust or thick pipes.

It’s been removed from USA LEGO webpage, I bet it’s to switch manufacturing to the new battery box. -
Oh, you’re right! I forgot the 4L came in red. It’s still great that we get a long frictionless ball connector.

New part(s) in the Zetros? In the New Elementary interview with the designers, they talk about a new universal joint (mostly referring to the one used in 42099) but mention it allowing to ‘slide on the cross axle’ which the 42099 one does not. Photo(unfortunately blurry): Look in the top center. The grey ball end looks longer and the red part may be new. I could be totally wrong.

Isn’t this just regular Dark Red that’s been around for years? Agreed though that we need more than three Technic parts in that color.

Agreed. Personally, I am not terribly annoyed by the color issue on this set specifically. Sure, it's a little off, but the parts fit together as intended (unlike a certain new part) and you can tell it's supposed to be in the Lime color. It's not amazing that we have to deal with this issue at that price point, but I'm not going to ask for replacements for such a minor issue. It could possibly be the problem of the plastics manufacturer depending if this specific compound is pre-dyed by the plastics company or mixed by LEGO themselves.

Personally, I think the probability of this part existing is almost zero. It's fundamentally flawed in design. The cutouts in the back used for pulling it out of the part would be useless in a 1L axle because there is no side to pull it from. Also, there is no stopper between the axle and the stud which would lead to it getting jammed in pinholes. Most Technic parts have hollow studs, and the logo on this stud is crooked which may or may not affect its legitimacy.

There was discussion on this part a few years ago and people deemed it as a photoshop. Nobody is sure why it is added to the BrickLink catalog.

I've seen those before, usually with BrickLink it's a leap of faith on whether they have the color correct or not. Most of the time I have been lucky but I ordered two 4L axles in Reddish Brown but they arrived as old Brown. No big deal as they weren't important. My favorite part from BrickLink that I got was this prototype:

Thanks! Yes, it is a bit different then LEGO sets of that era, but I am okay with that. Luckily, I bought those transparent connectors a long time ago for $2 a piece. The more expensive parts were four blue half bushings ($6 total) and one red 14L soft axle ($8 ) Thank you, I just looked up the 8880 EVO and it is similar! I didn't make a video yet because it is very slow and has few functions and I lost my video editing app (easy to replace though). I will consider making a video. Thanks! I wish standard blue was more available, especially the 5x11 panel which is very expensive right now. I agree with you on raising the sides, that is something I can try to do. Thanks! I had to use loose toggle joints in blue since the #4 connector does not exist in blue. Stressed me out for a bit because I wasn't sure if they would be structurally sound enough! My rare part collection definitely got a boost from ordering parts for this MOC. The real rare 2L axle is in old Light Gray, it appeared once in an old Bionicle accessory set. They exist as a non-production part in Orange as well. I don't have either, but I have a very rare Trans-Clear 4L axle.

I see Technic plate 2 x 8 in Medium Dark Flesh as well as the medium tread sprocket in Light Bluish Gray in the new Mario set 71390.

Hi! I present my favorite MOC to date: Blue Fury RC. I really wanted to build a car using Blue and Dark Turquoise parts since MOCs using these colors are relatively rare. It only took around a week to build, but a month and a half for some rare blue parts to arrive from BrickLink. I used a Power Functions XL motor for drive and a servo motor for steering. The front has independent double wishbone suspension and the back has swingarm suspension since I could not fit a driven double wishbone axle in the back. I also wanted to use the futuristic wheels from the '90s which I got three years ago, but hadn't used until now. The doors open as well as the hood. This MOC was a joy to build as I finally feel like I achieved a more retro style and I love using rare parts in my builds. I probably won't create instructions unless several people ask. The car itself is pretty slow but there is no gear clicking or slipping axles. More photos: I used some fun Bionicle parts in the rear suspension, here is a photo of one that limits the rear suspension travel: I loved building this, and I am glad to be able to share it! I am still working on my other MOC, Utility Vehicle, but the floorspace is occupied with items from a cabinet I am replacing. -TechnicRCRacer

I wish it was in normal blue, and if I recall in 2017 the Speed Champions set of the truck was blue. I’m building an entirely blue car right now and I’ve had to make some compromises. Sand blue would be neat but only the large Technic panel appears in it already and the palette would still be very limited. That being said, it would look pretty cool.
