Ah, OK, I see that now. The angle makes it look like the shield is printed. Very nice!

CDC2 Ancient Wonders: Standing Stones Swap Meet
Grover replied to Eyrezer's topic in Guilds of Historica
Really beautiful little build. Lots of detail here, which makes sense for foliage. The groot characters are perfect, and the rockman tree is perfect! Your use of bright colors really works here, and there are some creative parts like the hard hats and the orange half dome bricks. Good job on the story and the irregular base too! Look forward to more of your builds!- 9 replies

Excellent, thank you! Thanks for the comments and glad you enjoyed! I figured if I couldn't reach all my minis because parts were blocked by storage bins, I'd at least go for some laughs, so it seems to have worked! Maybe I will use the sandmaid in another build... And yes, hard not to bring Bob into a build that is supposed to be humorous! Awesome! Glad people are enjoying this!

CDC2 Ancient Wonders: The Fighting Pit of Kaliphlin
Grover replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Amazing. This build is brilliant. There are so many wonderful aspects to this, and I love the detail: the grass in the cracks in the floor, the lion pacing, the SNOT detail in the columns, the decorative mixel joints in the walls, the flowing tapestries to add a splash of color, the braziers on the columns... all fantastic. And so many minis to place! Wow! I really love your time lapse video, particularly with the voice-over, as I learn a lot from watching others build and describing their techniques, what worked and what didn't. The disparate styles of the big block dark grey and the light grey work. The animation at the setting sun is fantastic as well. My only nitpick would be to have the flames on the braziers going the same direction since the wind would be in the same direction more than likely, but it's such a big build it's a little hard to notice. Fantastic work and I hope to see more of these videos! -
Nice work! Love the little details like the bluebird and egg. You really have the centaurs down, and the body seems more proportional to a lego figure than the smaller actual lego centaur torso. You have a good sense of color holding things together too: the blues, gold, and purples are great! Nice builds and nice description!

Ha! The Nocturnus teacher is brilliant and had me cracking up! Love it! You have a lot of really solid builds in here, such as the Avalonian knight. Really well thought out and executed, with a touch of humor (the immortal baker!). Great job!

Nice work. Photography is really top notch, as usual. Very clear. The astrologer is fantastic, and I love the throwback to the Algus. What's the shield on the Petrean swordsman from? I don't recognize it. The cyclops cracks me up and the painted face on the satyr is really in character. Great job!

CDC2 Ancient Wonders - Bridge of Gods - Kaliphlin
Grover replied to Maxim I's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice work! Heck of a build, that must have taken a while! I love the uniformity of the troops, and the water looks good. I really like the scale/proportions. It really looks good and majestic. The column carvings are funny too! -
[Freebuild] « New Hope » Grange in Marginea (Avalonia)
Grover replied to Sympatik Brick's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow, very nice! Love the all brick border! I really like the thatched roof, too. It is fairly simple but has good texture to it. The dormer window looks good as well. You have a good sense of color and the fall foliage looks great. I'm a little surprised how well the monkey king works with the elf woman hair, but it does! Nice placement of the house at an angle to the studs, and the smoke is a nice touch. The tiles in the pig pen work very well. If I had to make a suggestion it would be to make the path lower than the grass, rather than raised, since it would normally be beaten down. I really love the front door: great use of the minecraft tiles! Keep up the good work! -
Wow! That's crazy it's a render and not a real build! Well done! The letter stamper is hilarious! My only suggestion would be to downsize the pics and then not hide them, as clicking on the spoilers to see them all got a little monotonous.

Gorgeous! I think your building style is one of my favorites on the guilds here. I don't know how to describe it, but if I were to try, I would say it is understated yet detailed. The building you have here has a lot of detail and texture, but it doesn't feel like an over-greebled wall. I really like the aesthetics. The lamps are great, the windowed overhead trellace is fantastic, and the proportions are great. Love the color choices and the detailed roof too. The only thing that looks a little off might be the narrow stairwell (maybe one stud more would make it look more natural), but then again, if you actually go to Italy, you will see old stairwells that are very narrow based on building restraints, so not unrealistic. Great job!

Il Baile di Mascherati (Collab: Part III)
Grover replied to W Navarre's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice costumes! I like the detail of the pie slice tiles behind the hooked plates. Nice use of the technic, too. I like the background, but I think it overpowers the build. I like the evening shot more because I feel it brings the build to the forefront rather than the picturesque backdrop. Overall well done! -
Oooh! Some very cool stuff here. I love the treasure chest monsters, and the use of the Ninjago blue demon horns is perfect. Love the ice guy too! I like how you have descriptions for each on an image like a trading card, too!

CDC2 Ancient Wonders : The Forgotten entrance of Kaligem

Really beautiful lighting! I like the circular drain in the floor and all the attention to detail you have in the 'dig site'. I keep wanting Indiana Jones to burst through the door! -
CDC2 CMF : Sympatik Brick [It's all about Power]
Grover replied to Sympatik Brick's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice work! I like the small builds to house the minis. Great job with incorporating the guild colors! The overall shots could use a bit more light, but are quite usable. The angled shots are the best in my opinion. You did a good job with parts selection and keeping themes among the various guilds. I think the orcs are my favorite, but I also like the use of the old school head on the Nocty wizard. I usually dislike those heads, but I think it works well with the undead style wizard. Well done! -
Thanks! I had some fun with these, despite not being able to access about half my pieces due to junk in the way! I think the Dessert King is probably my favorite. Awesome! I was waiting for someone else to do an invisible mini like this! I agree, we'll have to make references on the sly to the 'Dessert King' in future builds! Glad you enjoyed the empty plate. My goal was just to make people laugh!

In the fantastical Historica, there are times where magic can have unexpected consequences. Some of these are random, while other times the unscrupulous or unwitting can bring changes on themselves… Avalonia Bunny Swap Too near a nexus of magical energy, this adventurer had his body swapped with a nearby Avalonian Giant Hare. Pig Headed “Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.” This king found out what the wizard thought of him after causing grave offense. Elarf An Avalonian elf and his Mitgardian dwarven traveling partner were unfortunately part of a magical explosion. The elf got the short end of the stick. Mitgardia Dwalf The Mitgardian counterpart to the Elarf. Reaching new heights. Stoned This warrior agreed to fight a ‘Meh’ Doula in a crowded bar one night. Too bad he had prepared to fight an average midwife and not the serpent haired demon he did. Now he is a bird garderobe. The Vanished Cursed to be ignored after taking advantage of a tribal priestess, this popular playboy slowly faded from sight and is largely forgotten now. Kaliphlin Mermaidman Having failed to kill a sea-witch, this old triton was transfigured into the body of a mermaid. Sandmaid The sandman is a mythical being who brings sleep to the weary. A tryst with a mortal produced a daughter who puts people to sleep when she is not sleeping herself! The Dessert King Never a good speller, the erstwhile ruler of Kaliphlin angered a minor goddess and was forced to bring pastries to his subjects for a month he wishes would be forgotten. Nocturnus Orctaur One of the few beneficial mishaps, an enchantment gone awry from the local shaman melded the body of an orc warrior to his horse, bringing greater speed and stamina. He's also faster on foot and can run for longer periods without getting winded. The One Eye Love Captain of the Nocturnus cheerleading squad, Carrie was not popular with the other cheerleaders. She was criticized for lacking any depth of field and was always unable to see the other side of an argument. WTF? Yeah, it’s Nocturnus. Don’t ask. Varlyrio Snakebuckler This swashbuckler prayed for fast, smooth moves. Prayers answered. Slimfast™ This overly vain DiCarlo daughter felt she was overweight so drank a potion to help her slim down. Lawyer “You are ssssserved!” Literally cursed by an unhappy client. Philadelphia Bob Cursed by a gypsy after drukenly vomiting on her, Bob found himself in Historica and traveled about, finally settling in Avalonia.

Wow. This thing is impressive. The stone bird is magnificent! The time you took to build it was well worth it! Love the story that goes with this. Lots of imagination, and it compels the reader. The fall scenery is gorgeous, and I love the symmetry and detail you have in the stairs. Nice touch with the painting background as well. What is that lute piece in the library picture? I don't recognize it. And the heart piece? I didn't even know they made that. I think the spell casting scene is my favorite. Lots of implied action! The minis are awesome, as usual. You have a great eye for them and some nice parts! Keep up the great work!

Well done! I usually discourage two tone backgrounds, but in your case, using the carpet as a sea works. Amusing take on Anton's bait shop. I like the use of the shark mini as a caught shark. Some of the later close up shots are actually more appealing than the overall, possibly because of the point of view (eye level shots tend to be more spectacular although they are less helpful to the builder for determining how something was built). The wall is particularly good, especially with the spilling bucket! I like the depth implied in the water through the use of dark plates underneath the trans light blue, and the anchor tattoo sticks out here. Kudos to getting some interior into that house! The groot character is seamlessly integrated into the tree, although the tree is a bit chaotic. It might need to be that way to disguise the groot character, though, I don't know. I think you did a good job with the roof and it fits into the little build quite nicely. I also love the side builds. The story is well done, and I look forward to reading more! I like how you take the time to read guild lore and incorporate it into your story and builds. Oh, and thanks for the elven stag cavalry shout out!

Nice work! I really like your inclusion of small builds with the figure that enhance the scene. Love the genie and the Lizardman priest!

Wow! This build is awesome. I love how you were able to put so much into it without making it crowded by using varied elevation (something not particularly easy to make look natural for anyone who has not tried it). The stonework looks great, the roofing is uniform, and the whole village scene has a cohesive feel to it. The only part that I find confusing is the two layered dark green/black border since it appears to be water throughout. Great use of some minifig parts and the eye-level photography throughout!
