  1. I called yesterday. They said the sets should start going out in October. I'll believe that when I see it.
  2. Nice little story there. Always good to see some nocturnus builds! I like your use of the new weird light yellow-lime green teeth in the water/acid. Nice use of the sand green that doesn't look like Avalonia, too. The wandering line of the wall looks great, and the splash of color from the fall tree is a great contrast for the build. Nice work!
  3. Good job! At first glance, the entrance looked a little regular, then I noticed the snake head a second later! Really creative and well done. You used the parts you have very well, and the dirt path looks great. I particularly like the grey rock top used to the side of the path, and it's fun to see the old trolls again. For suggestions, I would recommend getting some more light on the piece for your camera, and if possible, putting a white or light gray sheet behind it so the background is less busy. Oftentimes what you will find is that great builds will not attract as much attention (or win contests if you compete) without excellent photography. I do like the angles of your photos, keeping the angle low at the POV of the minis is nice. Keep up the good work!
  4. Awesome! NPU on the trans clear canopy for the waterfall. Really clever choice of colors. I don't like lime green much as a color since I have a hard time finding colors that work with it, but in your case, the orange works well. Rather than a spring green, it gives more of a faded fall color. Part of me wants to see a little more growth along the river where the water is, but I think another green added would make the scene look off, and the parts available in lime are limited. The rockwork looks good, and I like the uneven elevation to the build. Kudos on a good story, too! Great job!
  5. Gorgeous. Love the colors, and your background is very nice. NPU on the dragon legs, and the white limb pieces are great. Love the idea of the carnivorous tree, and the octopus legs as roots is great. Well done!
  6. Welcome! Great story, nice fig, and I'm interested to see some of your builds and where Trevidor's story goes!
  7. Once again I find myself liking the unusual black background. The windows are great, especially the curtains, and I like how you are able to get a long rectangular hallway without making a corner picture of a room. The bat motif throughout is well done, particularly the bat mosiac, and I like the simple yet elegant lines of the whole piece, which feels very uniform. Well done!
  8. Great job on the mermaids! the sea floor looks great with all the different angles too. Good placement of the sea creatures to show movement, and nice use of the limb pieces to frame the build. Nice work!
  9. Very nice! I like the cubed technique for the salt blocks, although question their efficiency as a real life practice. If you could post a slightly larger picture on the forums it would help me. I had to click through to be able to see the picture. The minis are great, the brick built camels are fun, and I like the curved slopes for the dunes. I think I kind of see the idea of the kraft paper background for a desert feel, but the lack of contrast here detracts somewhat from the presentation. Strangely, I think a grey or even glossy black background here might have helped, but since you have white in the build, it is a challenge photographically. I'm not sure my vote counts, but +1 for university credit!
  10. Things are a bit slow around here, probably because the summer joust just ended, the pandemic has made a mess of things, and people have been building for cons, so if you don't get immediate responses, just be patient and people will get back to you. I just got done dealing with a move so have been absent a couple of months now myself. That being said, there's a lot of posts both new and old for the various guilds, so have a look around! You can absolutely do free builds or challenge builds set in Nocturnus. Many of us, myself included, have. It is my understanding that you can even have a sig fig in Nocturnus ( @Exetrius does, although he's somewhat grandfathered in), but you can't earn points for Nocty. The points (i.e., 'gold') system is pretty much just guild bragging rights, and, if I understand it right, if you have a sig fig in Nocty, you have to choose which guild your builds earn gold for instead of Nocty for this book. @Henjin_Quilones, please correct me if I'm wrong, since I think this was the way you explained it a while back when someone else asked, but I can't seem to find the thread. Enjoy looking around at the various builds and guild info, and don't hesitate to ask more questions as you have them!
  11. Of course! It's kind of a rolling sign up, so jump in when you're ready, and if you have any questions, post here or in the new member guide and you should be answered shortly. Welcome!
  12. Well done! I like the detail in the wall behind the dragon with the dark grey trash cans and the flame portal. Great to see Nocty represented in the forums again. The dragon is nice work, too. It's a stocky, beefy dragon, which is a nice look to showcase its power, and the joints look good. Thanks for sharing!
  13. Awesome! I love all the details and humor. This reminds me of some children's books I used to read as a child, where each page showed another scene in a tall tower of whatever was being explained. All the little scenes wrapped together in here are fantastic, from the Van Gogh to the plant creature (which is fantastic). I like some of the details like the barrel winch, and how you illustrated a ladder with the grill piece to save space. The spider webs are well done, too. Totally awesome build from bottom to top!
  14. Green is a great choice for this contest. Excellent use of the trans yellow-green to extend the color palette. Love the portal and the little details on the shelf, plus the hilarious expression on the guy's face! Where is the splat piece from? I don't recall it, but I've been out of the game for a couple of months.
  15. Gorgeous! I love seeing your builds, not only because they are fantastic, but because you share your techniques for building, lighting, and photography. Some of the very realistic touches, like the LED in the fireplace, are so natural your eye doesn't catch them right away. I really like your attention to detail in the floor wood work, the shields on the walls, the stonework, and even part of the exterior build even though it won't be seen beyond the spoilers! (Bonus for the seagull!) I particularly love the fireplaces. They are simple and elegant in their design. The decorations on the walls and the furniture at top notch. All of this, and you have a great story. I'm enjoying reading about embervale! My only regret is that I can't see all your builds together in one giant castle all at once!
  16. Now this is one for the ages! Tons of details packed in here, as it should be for a farm. The overall color scheme is very clever, and the lime green is a bold choice that screams fantasy world to me. Love that you have an interior on the house! The use of the various hair pieces for plants is great, and even though they're from the disney sets, the roosters don't look terribly out of place. At the front door, the stones look great, at or below the level of the walkway. Out in the garden, the stones are raised a plate above the grass, which seems a little backward. The detailed plants everywhere are gorgeous, and I love the story, both present day with the archers, and the flashback. Great work!
  17. Really well done. The half pressed down round for the underside of the mushroom really sells it. The winged critter on top is fantastic. I like all the little details in the tools and the use of the bike helmets. Nice job!
  18. As I look at this again, it occurs to me that the red/orange background may be pulling that color out. Maybe a white, black, or grey background might change the colors? It's kind of nitpicky since you and all the others on here build so well, but I try to give the comments I like to receive, which is to help me learn new techniques, so hopefully this helps!
  19. This thing is crazy! What an amazing build! The bridge is fantastic, but the fact that you took time to detail the underside of it with plates and tiles is fantastic. The curve looks great, and I appreciate the size. The fortress looks nice on the other side, too, and that first perspective shot is great. The model bridge is perfect, and I like the melted wax candle beards! I love the fact that you built an interior, and the story is well done. Love seeing your work!
  20. The woodwork here is great. The crown molding and baseboards are well done. I like the chair detail too! Fun use of the violin on the wall. Nice job!
  21. Very cool build! The colors work, the different heights work, and the use of the hero factory parts is great. What is the fern part? I'm not familiar with that. The rockwork, particularly at the top, is awesome, and I love how the stairs are uneven and not connected at one part. Great job!
  22. Another great Albion build! Love the rooftop. I'm hoping to do an Albion build once I get my bricks out of storage, and may steal that roof design so the city of Albion remains consistent! The bookshelves look great, and I like the cellar. I really like the interior and the way the shop opens. The brilliant long, thin design makes a lot of sense when you consider the dense urban setting of Albion. I look forward to your next builds!
  23. Now this is a huge build. I like that you took the time to write a story with it and didn't just toss a huge build up here without context. The round thatched roof is awesome! I like your layout and the stone building on the hill. The feasthall with the shields on the wall is great, and the fact that you have an interior to the build is amazing. The stained glass looks good, too. Glad to have you back building for the guilds again!
  24. Sorry, I think I commented on this on W Navarre's thread. I really like the chair design here, and the baseboard details look good. The tapestries/shields brick built into the wall are a nice touch as well. Keep up the good work!
  25. Great build! Lots of detail here, and the cheese slope use is awesome. Even better, that lighting with the sunlight coming between the buildings is superb! I like the detail at the building rooflines, and the use of the white flowers pressed into the decorations looks great. The dragon handles on the dark door looks great, too. Very nice work and thanks for including a pic without figs so we get to admire the build!
