Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
So many pages of moaning. A few things struck me going through the last six pages; the suits are team, not QR suits, whether they appear or not. The fact that everyone is wearing them has more to do with them being team suits and the Russos decision to have them than it is Lego being lazy. If they are given concept art to work on, they’re not going to go rogue to suit the AFOLs. Thirdly, everyone complaining about minifigure quality has missed something that has been happening for a while now. Lego do make high quality figures, but reserve them for the top sets like the D2C. A perfect case in point is Batman from TLM2. In the small set with Metalbeard his suit detail is printed. In the vast Apocalypseburg set his details are dual moulded. I know that limits who can get them, but isn’t that the idea of exclusivity? -
Yeah it must have had some purpose like that. It would have been a toss up between a gag in Apocalypseburg and him not really being seen until the end, or what they went with.

Went with my son today, who aptly called it awesome. The big twist was great fun to explain to him! I’m trying to recall when Apocalypseburg Green Lantern shows up. I must have blinked like most of the best characters/designs seemed to be.

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

A movie Shazam would be fine by me as it would differ enough from the SDCC version enough not to wind anyone up and fit in with the regular characters. If it leads to Black Adam, I will be a very happy puppy. -

That may be so, but by deliberately stating that they genuinely believe that to be a real Lego set, they are discrediting themselves as a reliable source. Word spreads quickly that these people appear to be monumentally thick as opposed to the click baiters they are, and fans will be even less inclined to trust them. Either way it’s a really, really stupid move. -

On a side note, for those in the UK the Batman comic that was shown available in (I think) Germany will be coming February 20th, which means issue #2 with a cheap to get Jason Todd Robin will be with us soon. I found it hard to justify buying that Juniors set just for him, so my patience has paid off. -

At least Elephant had the good grace not to clone a Lego set piece for piece. Having said that it’s still just nasty. -
The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

That’s fair. They’re still cool and a brilliant way of having returning characters appear different enough to covet. They could have just had minor print tweaks but they have all been taken back to the drawing board and given a good shake up. -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
What did you anticipate for the torso of a minifigure based on the black and white Mickey Mouse from Steamboat Willie ? It’s one of the very first animated cartoons, the visuals practically had to be simple in order to succeed. That and Mickey’s torso is actually solid black. It’s difficult to jazz him up without making him wildly inaccurate.- 961 replies

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

Some good images of the as yet unseen figs appearing in the usual place. Bats with a massive furry cape, a Mohawk guy with matching armour, the female vampire and disco Benny being good examples. -

The build might be but for me Jack Nicholson’s is the worst depiction of the Joker, so any minifigure of him would not be pride of place, front and centre. -

An in depth, possibly retrospective Batcave I can always welcome, but if Nicholson Joker comes in a set desirable to me then he is going into permanent storage. -

I know all of the above potential sets are just that, but colour me interested in B:TAS Batcave, Super Pets other than Super, Bat and Wonder dogs, and the Beyond suit. Having seen the SW anniversary sets I am a little more optimistic about the Batsets. -

That would be the ideal, in a similar way to the SW sets. Some through the years type sets. Original Batsuit, 1943 Batmobile, like you say the original Jokermobile. Anything like that would be peachy. -

This leaves me divided. On the one hand there’s the potential of new prints (Nygma, we’re looking at you) and something new for Clayface. On the other hand, it’s a shame that the greater DC Universe is being benched again. -

My mind went to Dr Midnight and, although not DC at the time, the Golden Age first (published) Black Hood. The rest of his costume is fairly easy after that. Whether it would be suitable for the Atom is debatable, but I like the Flash idea as it streamlines the lightning bolts and I’m no fan of Ezra Miller’s costume. -

It’s definitely not from the SV game, which broadens the possibilities of what the likes of Two-Face will look like. Still really like it. -

I like the new Riddler torso, it might get straight in to the main layout for me -
You’ll find that WB own the rights to the ruby slippers now, and the logo used is technically a new design as the original is just text. Granted they would have to gain permission to use and alter it from WB, but in altering it they have essentially shown that their interpretation of the characters is based on but not identical to the film versions. Lego have a healthy working relationship with Warner, and it’s through this they can enjoy creative flexibility. Besides all of this, there are so few minifigures that are 100% screen accurate. Even Batman doesn’t have glowing eyes, and he was a collaborative effort. They would have chosen the colour they did because it worked, not through laziness or ignorance of source.

It might be something as simple as getting the costume and the certificate to translate into Lego form. I doubt for one minute that they didn’t have visual reference as the other details are outstanding, and a big part of design is aesthetics. There’s nothing definite to say that they based off the movie anyway; in TLBM the Wicked Witch was just one of the bad guys, not cited as coming from a specific version of a franchise. The monkeys even less so. I would put money on it that the same will apply to the other characters in TLM2. I appreciate that they first appeared in Dimensions as characters from the film, but the game is now retired so there is nothing to say they have to be the same. I also appreciate that most people’s knowledge of TWoO will be from the film rather than the book. In short, be happy that they got made at all. Prior to Dimensions there was no indication that they would ever appear.

This MOC, like all of your previous builds, is awesome. I love all of the features and especially that cockpit. It sits well with the Catmobile, and is as you say, quite the monstrosity.

This prediction was made by @Duncan Young back in June when the set potential was being discussed. If I remember rightly we were debating the likelihood of a Shazam/Sivana set or a Shazam/Batson one -

Is there a precedent for what would have been new minifigures appearing in later sets? Or are they more likely to be archived indefinitely? I mean I really like the AC Batmobile, but I reckon I would have made louder noises about it to my wife if it had had Grundy and Copperhead with it.
