I am torn on the subject, because the movie figs are really nicely done but don’t necessarily fit next to comic-based figs. I didn’t like movie Flash, and the only things I really liked about JL were the Batmobile and tactical suit. On the other hand this may well be the one and only time we see Mera. I don’t know whether they figured that there was only one sets worth in Wonder Woman, which is a shame if so, or whether they felt that it wasn’t going to be the hit that it was, which is cynical and a bit wait-and-see. I get the feeling that we are only going to see Shazam appear in a movie tie-in set, which would be odd if they carry on down this path and we eventually get Black Adam, but in comics guise. My main concern is that the new/revamped Batman sub theme is intended to supplement the main theme rather than replace it.

It certainly looks that way. Wonder Woman only got one set, which was a big step down from MoS, BvS and JL. I guess they Legofied Orm for the movie and couldn’t waste an opportunity. I would have been happier with a set showing off the amazing sea creatures, a bit like a grown up version of the SDCC set.

I’m not a big Marvel fan, but this is amazing stuff and takes me back to the cartoon. You’ve got the look and scale spot on in my eyes.

I overheard someone ask as much in the Cardiff store and the staff member said (in so many words) that if it comes, it comes, but it looks unlikely. He said that with the closure of TRU it left things up in the air, but maybe we’ll see a variation next year. The way he answered suggested that they have fielded that question a few times.

I agree with your first two statements but I think the third is debatable. I would say that the Marvel designers are fine, but we all know that the Superheroes line will always play second fiddle to Star Wars, and as such the budget is never going to be big enough to incorporate things like new moulds, a character face that isn’t Lex/Bruce/Joe Everyman, and limb printing. From their point of view it must be frustrating that there are hundreds of characters in both lines that would work well and be appreciated, but will never see the light of day, when simultaneously there are SW figs that no one cares about getting their own head mould. On top of that the company has just invested a sack of money on a new license with loads of new parts. Superheroes fans are going to have to weather the storm for a while.

I’m glad to see a comics based fig over a movie one, as it will fit in better with the rest. Don’t get me wrong, I intend to get Mera, and if the only Shazam fig we see is movie based, I’m still getting it.

If the rumour is true, I will be annoyed and surprised. Annoyed for the very obvious reason that it would bring the collection to a grinding halt. I thought we were onto a good thing with the JL sets from earlier in the year. Surprised because they are on the brink of releasing a DC Villains game. To come to an end now seems odd. Perhaps as @BrickSantorum suggested, they see Batman as a more sustainable brand at a time when every penny counts.

Ocean Master will be welcome. If it’s another new Batsuit then I’m doubly happy. Likewise, as suggested, if Aquaman is updated.

I’d be happy to see a range of faces, like some Gotham Knights, Signal, Batwing, the Gothams, old faces Booster or Captain Atom, a War World set with Mongul and Jonah Hex, Red Hoods Outlaws, some comic rather than Arrowverse characters, and most of all I would like to see Sideways make the jump.
