  1. This may bring the value of #275 up a teensy bit I always figured that when Bill Finger wrote “magnetic field” in the costume description, his artists had just come back from a day trip to the zoo for inspiration. I’m getting sidetracked by a SDCC fig I really want, this is a rare day.
  2. Dang it, I want it. With any luck I will be in the minority and it won’t get an absolutely hideous secondary value *satire*
  3. Here
  4. For fear of dragging this thread off on a tangent that I enjoy exploring, characters, deities or whatever have been ripped off since the age of empires. Does anyone genuinely think that the Romans had the exact same pantheon as Greece by coincidence? There is a reason why we have the word trope.
  5. A bit like this guy you mean? Bad timing and all, with Slade on a comic book hiatus right now.
  6. I would say as long as you are honest about it, because as I’ve seen across various parts of the forum people use them as place holders. @Mat099s collection is still pretty sweet and looks good with them. On the other hand someone like Donnie the Lego Dude on IG has an amazing collection of DC figs, but they are nearly all custom printed because there aren’t that many legit ones. Having said all of that, I don’t make the rules
  7. He is not a variant. That is the wrong word as it would imply the same brand.
  8. @Mat099 dang, this makes me annoyed with myself for not getting the Batsuit display going. Is the Zur-en-Arrh legit?
  9. @Aanchir this is comparable to the use of the empty threat of “if Lego doesn’t give us X we riot”. This stemmed from the days of ECW wrestling when you would see a banner with that on and believe it, which then got repeated later in another promotion without any rioting, which dilutes the meaning and makes the fans look ridiculous. The language being used in this forum isn’t as bad as the example you gave, but I have seen the riot ‘threat’, demands for resignations and continually see dislike and disappointment for a set being taken as a personal slight by some. Sorry to veer from the topic but it resonated with me.
  10. Start to fill the void. Four more sets sounds like it should do the job. That’s kind of what I meant. Lego aren’t expecting us to buy every set from every line. You’ve got to be a real completist to get everything. Must be hard if you’re a SW completist. Fourteen shelves of the same X-wing in varying styles They would have designed it at the same time and not had the luxury of a time heist to adjust things. They couldn’t have finished it, watched the film and gone “come on lads, we’ve got work to do!”. Doesn’t work like that.
  11. My son really wants an Infinity “goblet” of his own (I don’t think he wants a real one, I’m not ready for the consequences) and seeing Hulk have one will blow his mind. Yeah, even flipping the piece will cost money.
  12. And now I have to be patient to get that giant hook of Roadhog’s for Lobo to wield. Really not a fan of Overwatch as I don’t have the game and know nothing about it all, but these sets are really good. As a DC fan I’m jealous of the quality, the variety and the general look of the sets.
  13. I do love the weird hypocrisy of some AFOLs bemoaning the Endgame sets and how bad a hand Marvel gets dealt and the lack of certain figures, then bemoaning Lego when they start to fill that void. I always thought the A was for Adult not Angry. My five year old son will love this because it has Hulk in it. Alright he loves the compound but that’s your target audience for you.
  14. I really like this build, it’s compact and the trompe l’oeil effect plays nicely. Good use of technique and alternative methods. The only thing that bugs me is that his eyes look flesh colour, but that might be lighting. Must be narking for the Marvel fans that the figure isn’t exclusive.
  15. As much as I welcome a new Batman set, especially a UCS, I may be in the minority when I say that would rather see the ‘50 Batmobile in this scale. As iconic as the ‘89 is, it spawned so many variants that Lego have been putting out for the last few years and the only other vintage car is the ‘66. Just me, though.
  16. It’s not a cult, but its not necessary to only criticise. The are aspects of the hobby that I don’t like, the size/price of some sets being one of them. But I don’t think Lego is elitist because of it. I don’t agree with the whole Comic Con figures thing, but just because I can’t acquire them without spending a lot of money or robbing someone doesn’t make me think it’s elitist - it’s exclusive, yes, and the people lucky enough to get them are shills when it comes to the secondary market. This comment was brought to you by a very cynical person.
  17. Surely that depends on what you as a customer buy. Lego have always done a varied amount of set sizes for this very reason. Inflation/cost of living/wages don’t make Lego elitist, it is as a toy a luxury item anyway, i.e. you don’t need it like you need food, water and shelter. We all “need” it because it’s our hobby, or in some cases livelihood. Their production costs will naturally go up as the world becomes more aware of the decreased longevity of the planet and changes have to be made, hence the trial eco-friendly green pack. Change for the better always costs more to begin with, because the change has to be implemented. It’s the way of things, not elitism.
  18. @Digger of Bricks this looks like something better suited to Big Barda, but hey, it’s a welcome far cry from the old red and blue.
  19. You and I must have seen different movies. I’ve seen Minions a couple of times with my five year old and I didn’t see a stream of fart jokes. Sure there’s the fart battle in one of the short movies but that isn’t the main movie. It’s a sad day if a five year old isn’t allowed to laugh at a fart joke. It was never meant to be highbrow. As for value, keeping kids engaged has value. And story, well it’s about three of them heading off to find a new villain to control them. Spoiler alert: they find one. I’m not personally their biggest fan, but if they entertain my kids with jokes about bananas while being understandable in multiple languages, I’m good. If it means people buying Lego who hadn’t before, even better. If it leads to more varied pieces, better still. If it gets more business partnerships for Lego, alright, we’re cooking on gas. No one has to buy it, but we do.
  20. @Lego-Freak thanks for those pictures, they give a good idea of what we’re getting. Looks like a few will be useful for MOCs. I agree, though, why put a massive part in the accessory pack and not give it a role in its debut?
  21. I couldn’t resist. I have absolutely zero inside information but that joke has miles left in it.
  22. Picture of Doomsday from an upcoming trading card game brings hope (with a side of irony). A Supes villain who isn’t Lex would be a welcome change.
  23. Trawling through my collection has reignited a desire for a bit of Jack Kirby. The Sandman, Hawk and Dove, Etrigan, a New Gods line, as well as a few others like Rip Hunter and Swamp Thing
  24. Batwing can land in the Batcave in another nice nod to the original wave. These pictures do make the sets look more appealing, I have to say.
