Quite, have a push-along passenger train on a circle of track (with instructions for fitting PUP, sold separately) at around 50% of the price of 60197 (as per contemporary sets with similar piece counts). Once they're hooked, the kids start begging for the super-duper all-singing, all-dancing freight set.
-
Surely parents prefer small prices. You should have a big set and a small set, that way people can choose.

Dangerous work, quarrying. https://www.peoplescollection.wales/items/11689

Any particular one you had in mind? I've just completed a Green Grocer. Most of the 1x3 sand green bricks are used in pairs so substitute 1x6s, which work out at a half the price for double the size. Do the reverse for the 1x8s, they're extortionate so use pairs of 1x4s. I substituted the grooved bricks with normal ones, I don't think it is too noticeable. The early ones used a slightly different pattern of lamp post so substitute with the current design.

Police train, you say? Yes, they really did repaint the loco (and then repainted it back a week later). A class 47 got the "jam sandwich" treatment later too, as a joint exercise between British Transport Police and Virgin Trains to deter vandalism. Firefighting trains do exist, some for fighting bush fires, others for dealing with incidents in tunnels. Ambulance trains were a wartime thing though (more patient transport than medical care) and LEGO won't have anything to do with war. I too would prefer that such sets get slots in the respective subthemes, rather than taking up the Train slots. I think that construction could be brought into it though, plenty of interesting equipment used to maintain railways.

The cab of the brand new one I was being trained on the other day had a 'new car smell'. Stuff Vegas, I'd rather wind up the Albula Valley.

If it means no helicopter, I'm not complaining.

Crosscountry and London-Holyhead services however were often loco-hauled rather than HSTs and would swap locos when the wires started and finished. Then Voyagers came along - diesels running under the wires and passengers wedged into vestibules. So it's not just the US that is a third-world country.
-
No idea why the above redundant quote box won't go away Loco swaps used to be quite normal in the UK. Then some idiot decided that they'd rather just have diesel trains running for hundreds of mile under the wires. All to save on shunters. In Switzerland though, loco swaps happen regularly at Disentis as the MGB's loco (with pinions to assist adhesion on steep gradients) gets replaced by a faster RhB one.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Interesting that the threshold is $200 or £200, even though BH is $199.99 or £174.99. Still, just means that I'll get Haunted House instead. -
Which animal you'd like to see re-moulded?

Never mind new designs, I'd just like a tiger that doesn't necessitate a second mortgage. -
I wouldn't want a re-release of Emerald Night, they could do so much better.
-
I don't buy clones. I do however buy parts that LEGO has never made, such as bigger train wheels or wider curves.

Would you rather build in person or online?

I use software for designing as it allows me to work out how many bricks I need to order. Otherwise physical all the way. -

Because people are never satisfied. I like it. I'll change bits, maybe even buy two for a bigger hotel. -
I'm not holding my breath on it being minifigure scale
-
Why does 8w have to be longer? They're not scale models, as soon as minifigures turn up any kind of sensible proportions go out of the window. I build carriages in 8w because I want minifigures to be able to sit next to each other.

If we're scattergunning predictions, I bet that it will be a hotel/hospital/post office/railway station/school/library/butcher/baker/candlestick maker/car dealer/convenience store/pub/chippy/pizzaria/kebab joint/antique store/cattle market/abattoir/mews/bus depot/fishmongers/cheesemongers/vintners/drug den... On the basis that it's got to be one of them, I'll get to sit smugly saying "I told you so..." -

If we ever get a hospital, an elevator would be a must. -
I've got to be honest, though. My wallet is breathing a sigh of relief.

We've often asked for Art Nouveau, though the curves would be quite a challenge to implement. -

A cottage hospital would probably work, it doesn't need to be an all singing, all dancing teaching hospital. Reception, surgery, operating theatre, general ward, lift, incinerator, attic nurses' accommodation should produce some interesting sub-builds. Might need to be 48w. Fitting a school into a terrace can be done, following the style of larger British schools of the Victorian/Edwardian era. You can include a Headmaster's study, science lab, music room and a couple of normal classrooms. Space should probably be found for an auditorium of some kind but I'd regard a dinner hall as optional as kids used to go home for lunch (does sound like a good excuse to depict a food fight though). I'm remembering scenes from Carry On Teacher and The Bash Street Kids - happy days! You'd want to set it back from the street to allow for a small yard in front, like this school in Portsmouth: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.7876852,-1.0937047,3a,75y,358.51h,103.1t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQWIOwhfu8E6TMLM3q1jOLQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 -
All the traffic updates I can see are fine. For Dover, Harwich and Hull. Likewise Calais, Dunkerque, Zeebrugge and Hook van Holland. This is DPD's incompetence.
