  1. I wouldn't read too much into that tweet. They wouldn't give too much away. Why is everyone insisting that a doughnut shop be fitted in to a hypothetical police station? You don't really need much in a police station: front desk, a couple of cells, interview room, line-up/mugshot room, duty room, office. Many police stations used to have their cells in the basement so you could even omit the cells and have a dummy basement like with the Pet Shop townhouse.
  2. Remember that Fire Brigade got so much hate when it was released just because it was different. Now, it's a classic.
  3. Good job I went for it a few hours ago at full price then.
  4. I think my bank manager would rather like a 16-wide modular this year.
  5. The minifigs in FB are modern uniforms which would indicate that the building is set in the present. I, though will be replacing the uniforms on mine with those in the WV Fire Station when I get around to ordering the latter. I thought PR would be the next to go for that very reason. So I bought a second set (to expand the first) rather than a DO or a second BB. Doh! Luckily I'm starting a new job and can afford to buy them now.
  6. Indeed it was but that was quite a while ago and the run was rather short so prices for dark orange bricks are going up and up.
  7. I'd rather have something in Dark Orange. If only because the colour is so rare. There are plenty of inspirational red brick buildings around. Gothic Art Deco Italianate
  8. I use a load of these: https://www.therange.co.uk/diy/tool-storage/organisers-and-cases/xl-organiser#443967 Sort by brick, then (if common) by colour.
  9. I hope we will see much more of the medium legs, having functional legs for the vertically challenged has been my wish for some time. Before some dismiss it as an "AFOL concern", even when I was a child I used to dislike the fact that Dobby had to stand on chairs (though in retrospect the opportunities for house elves to sit down are probably pretty few and far between).
  10. The former does have an advantage over Pirates/Castle in that among all these lines trying to get a slice of the boys' market, police cars are the most relate-able. The latter is backed up with a TV series and caters for a market that has relatively little competition from LEGO's other products. I'm afraid that in England where I grew up, kids know little more about history than that the Romans invented plumbing and that Henry VIII had six wives. Here in Wales it may be better as we are surrounded by fortifications, some built by the Welsh princes defending against invading armies, others by Edward I to keep the conquered masses in check.
  11. I suspect that the reason that non-licensed themes such as castle and pirates don't sell as well as they might once have done is one of marketing. Licensed brands already do most of the promotion for Lego, non-licensed brands have to be sold from scratched. Kids will play with pretty much anything you put in front of them but when the kid is writing his/her Christmas list or the parent is browsing in a toy shop, both are more likely to go for something they recognise, whether from a film or from an advert.
  12. Quite right, the residents shouldn't be rotting their minds watching the TV when they have a Cafe Corner set in their apartment above the bakery.
  13. If it was Taj Mahal style (in addition to, not instead of the annual release) then it would be great. Bringing the interior up to modern standards would be nice too.
  14. Not an issue I have, I move the pavements onto road baseplates and extend the building to suit (using a second set). My Palace Cinema actually looks big enough to be a cinema now.
  15. Even most rack-and-pinion systems can't do that steep.
  16. Does it? Sure, the purist collectors would be unhappy but the rest of us who just want a building that looks 99% like the original would be fine.
  17. The city line has had plenty of fire stations. Whatever the city line does is no indication of what the next modular will be. Why don't you think a hospital will fit?
  18. I can shed some light on prices. I used to be a warehouseman at Legoland Windsor. One that sticks in my memory is that 60051 was being bought for 50% of its RRP. Obviously VAT at 20% will be in the equation.
  19. Blimey, if it looks better by eye than it looks in the photos then it must look amazing.
  20. Cheers, found the thread now.
  21. Zanthera, I wonder if you could show/tell us what sort of structure you have inside the boiler please? I've been trying to do a boiler that size for a while and could never quite work it out.
  22. On Bricklink there are inventories showing what's in the set and what's a spare. It's always worth stating "extra parts not included" or something.
  23. If someone can do a working log flume then I'd be really impressed
  24. Bumper cars usually have a pole at the back. Simply attach this pole to a rotor hidden in the ceiling.
